About this property
Relaxing Arroyo Seco Vacation Home with Beautiful Views
Location! Our home is a peaceful retreat to conveniently enjoy the culture of Taos, adventure of the mountains, and access to the Rio Grande. This is a classic New Mexico home with adobe walls, kiva fireplace, vigas, tile floors, and arched doorways. 10 minutes to Taos, 15 min to Taos Ski valley, and 15 min to Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. Great location to access winter skiing and summer hiking, including Wheeler Peak. Expansive mtn. views from front patio and sunset valley views from back deck.
There is a front patio with an outdoor dining table and views overlooking the mountains. There is a back deck with a small table and chairs, which overlooks the valley and provides beautiful sunset views. The house stays a few degrees cooler in the summer than Taos because it is a higher elevation.
Inside the house, the living room is a great place to relax after hiking or skiing. We have a kiva fireplace to get warm by the wood fire. This room also has a HD smart TV that has Netflix, amazon prime, and other apps if you have your own account for these. We have four bedrooms, two of which have queen sized beds and one of which has two single beds. In this room, there is a pack and play (crib) if you have a little one. We also have toys and kids books. The master BR has a master bathroom attached to it. The hallway bathroom has a tub. The basement can be used as a fourth bedroom with a single bed and trundle bed, while also being a game room with a pool table and TV. Kitchen is well stocked with all the cookware that you need to make meals, coffee, and tea. We have a family room/sun room that overlooks the valley and provides an additional sitting and relaxing area. Ample parking is in the driveway out front, as well as in the two car garage.
The village of Arroyo Seco is 4 minutes away and has a few dining options, best breakfast burrito you will ever have at Taos cow, and a natural grocery store. Taos has ample dining, art museums, and a city park. See separate section on our recommendations.
Enjoy the art museums and restaurants of Taos, the plentiful hiking trails near the ski valley and Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, and the swimming and hot springs near the John Dunn bridge.
IMPORTANT: HOUSE RULES AND EXPECTATIONS
This is our second home. If we are to welcome you in as guests, please send me a message stating that you understand and agree to respect the below rules and expectations and that you would treat our home as if it were your own. Please tell me who would be coming and what the purpose of your trip is.
Skis and equipment should be stored in the garage, not in the house. Make sure you store all food inside and do not leave food outside or garbage cans open. Please keep both front gates to the patio closed when you are not using them. No smoking is allowed inside our home. No unannounced guests. Dogs are welcome for a $50 fee for one dog and $75 total for two dogs. We expect that pets are house trained and will leave no trace in the house or outside. This includes remaining on the floor and off the furniture (particularly the couch), wiping paws with the towels we provide under the bench inside the house, and not peeing or pooping on the front patio or in the backyard. It is very important to us that dogs and guests treat our home with respect. Noise level outside the home should be kept to a respectful level to consider our neighbors. Please lock doors, close windows, and turn off lights when you leave. Prior to checking out, all dishes should be clean and put away. The $350 deposit is for protection against damage from guests/pets, breakage, complaints from neighbors for excessive noise, or violation of house rules. We want you to enjoy the house and your experience here, while respecting the things I described above.
Our neighborhood has limited cell phone service. We have high speed wireless internet. If you enable wifi calling on your phone settings, this is a reliable way to make calls and send texts. We have two security cameras outside of our house, for our protection and yours. One is above the front door and one is above the garage.
