Great place
We loved this place. There were 11 adults and 2 teenagers. We had plenty of room to spread out in the 3 cabins yet there is a wonderful large room in the main cabin for gatherings. It is neat, clean and quiet. Would recommend for any large group. All of the cabins have significant updates. We would definitely stay here again.

Multi generational family
We had a perfect stay. The pictures don’t do this property Justice. The additional cabins allowed for private/quiet sleep times for kids/babies. The game cabin allowed indoor fun during some rain. Plenty of yard space for corn hole and hanging out. Sunsets from the deck were amazing. The use of the Kayaks were icing on the stay! The responsiveness of the hosts was greatly appreciated. This rental has everything you would want.

Great Place for Big Gathering
This place is a great place for a big gathering, without feeling like you are right on top of each other. We had 14 people, and it could have handled more. With 7 bedrooms (with doors) plus a small cabin living room hide a bed, across 3 buildings, plus a standalone game room cabin that is isolated for late night games, it’s great space. The cabins and house have been updated well while still having great character from some of the classic elements that have been kept around. The kitchen is pretty well stocked with pans, utensils etc. The beach swimming area is relatively shallow and a bit weedy, but the kids enjoyed it greatly. The kayaks were in good shape and there was a good selection of life jackets, and the lake was surprisingly quiet for a holiday weekend. There was a big selection of puzzles and games, many of them brand new. The availability of snow shoes would be fun for a winter visit. We didn’t have any luck fishing off the dock, but didn’t try much, and there were a number of people fishing nearby. Lots of space was available for for frisbee, bocce, and outdoor gatherings, and the big fire pits was used multiple times. A golf course and supper club were both walkable from the property, so lots of WI charm. A few things worth noting: there were only 6 outdoor chairs, so we brought camp chairs -this is pretty important for hanging out outside. We also brought a card table and chairs for the game room, a crockpot, a full size coffee pot (Keurigs are in all cabins), and a few extra pillows and beach towels. I’d recommend all of those if those fit your expected needs. It should also be noted that this is an classic, but updated, older set of buildings and has some of the problems you might expect - - sticky doorknobs, creaky hinges, and slightly weird temp distribution (4-5 fans were included) - but it’s also a big part of the classic lake resort feel to it. Overall this place is really great, and I would love to use it again when we have a big group. It’s an incredibly unique property, and one we’ve been telling friends and family about.

Great winter getaway
We had a wonderful long weekend at Green Canoe Landing. The house was spotless, and the spaces were even better than the pictures. Accommodations were excellent for all six of us. The snowmobile trails were accessible from the lake right at the Landing which was a huge plus. They had snowshoes available, and we loved trying them out for a walk on the lake one morning. There was good food nearby. We agreed that we will come back in the summer and enjoy the cabins, too. Thank you, Tom and Sarah!

Perfect place to reconnect and enjoy nature!
We did so much in our short time at the Green Canoe Landing! Snowshoed, shopped, played games, watched movies, ate lots of food, and, most importantly, we reconnected! Tom and Sarah are wonderful hosts! They made sure that we had everything we needed. Thank you so much for making our stay memorable!

About the host

Hi! We are Tom and Sarah, and we have two great kids to whom we have imparted our love of the Northwoods. Sarah loves kayaking on our lake and skiing Granite Peak, just a stone's throw from here in Wausau.

Tom grew up spending summers all over Northern Wisconsin and knew he was "home" as soon as we walked on the grounds at Green Canoe Landing. In addition to fishing right here on Halfmoon and the Nokomis chain of lakes, Tom loves casting a fly at the trout streams in our area.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with this historic property when we first walked its picturesque grounds the Summer of 2020. There were projects to take on everywhere we looked, but the old time Wisconsin resort charm still shone through and pulled us right in. We think you'll love the newly spruced up Green Canoe Landing, which combines elements of the throwback resort vibes you will remember from your childhood as well as the best of today's modern luxury travel essentials.

Whether you aim to catch a fish, take a dip, paddle a boat, swing a golf club, hike, bike or blaze a trail, peep some leaves, eat some curds, read a book, hit the slopes, rekindle a flame, toast a friend, or simply unplug we are sure you will create memories to last at Green Canoe Landing!
