Our preferred short-term rental platform is the other major booking platform. We will cautiously accept reservations for this property through VRBO due to a technical error on their platform that was not satisfactorily resolved.

**Please note for trip planning:** The cities of Napa and Sonoma are each about a 50-minute drive away. We recommend exploring northern Napa and Sonoma Valleys, where there are many wonderful wineries much closer to the property. We’re happy to make recommendations!

## LOCATION + THINGS TO DO
**Calistoga is only 5 miles away**, with wineries, restaurants, spas, shops and the Vine Trail. Bikes can be rented in town.
Kenwood/Sonoma Valley and Healdsburg/Alexander Valley are also within easy driving distance, giving you access to several of Northern California’s best-known wine regions.
Nearby hiking includes **Oat Hill Mine Trail, Trione-Annadel State Park, Spring Lake and the Petrified Forest.**
**Please note:** Due to the property's steep ridge terrain, there are **no walking or hiking trails on the property itself**. Guests must remain on our property and the shared private road. **Surrounding land, fields, yards and driveways are privately owned and are not available for guest access, walking or exploring.**
## COUNTRY SETTING
This is a secluded rural property surrounded by nature and neighboring farm animals. A small working farm is located next door. **Please do not approach, pet, feed or disturb the animals.**
The farm has a **working livestock guardian dog** that protects its animals from foxes and other wildlife. Depending on the time of year and activity in the area, you may occasionally hear the dog barking, including at night. Closing the windows keeps outside sounds to a minimum—the home's **double-paned windows do a very good job of reducing noise**, and fans are provided in each bedroom for additional white noise.
## IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
- **Well + Septic:** The house has safe, drinkable well water with a slightly earthy taste. A Brita filter is provided, and guests may prefer to bring bottled water. We are also on septic, so **only toilet paper may be flushed** and we ask guests to conserve water.
- **Road + Terrain:** The property is located on a steep ridge and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. The area surrounding the house is primarily gravel. Children should not be left unattended outside. Our private access road is rural, narrow and uneven, with some potholes and ongoing erosion repairs. Guests should drive slowly, remain on the asphalt and avoid pulling onto the road shoulders.
- **No Pets:** Pets are not permitted. The owners' pets are occasionally on the property, so the home may not be appropriate for guests with animal allergies.
- **Service Providers:** Our regular pool/hot tub technician, gardener and pest-control technician may access **outdoor areas only** during your stay. Because of our remote location, exact service times can vary. Vendors are instructed not to enter the house or barn.
- **Uber/Lyft:** Rideshare service can be unreliable at our location. For wine tasting, most guests prefer a designated-driver service rather than relying on Uber/Lyft between wineries.
## TWO HELPFUL TIPS
**GROCERIES:** Most guests arrive from the south via Hwy 101. You'll pass Costco in Santa Rosa and a Safeway on Calistoga Road approximately 6 miles before reaching the house. We recommend picking up groceries before arrival.
**WINE TASTING:** Consider arranging a designated driver in advance. This is especially convenient when visiting several wineries and purchasing wine along the way.
## HOT TUB + PLUNGE POOL SAFETY
The plunge pool is **not heated**. There is no lifeguard on duty, and use of the hot tub and plunge pool is **at your own risk**.
For everyone's safety:
- Children under 14 must be directly supervised by an adult. - No diving, running, rough play or glass containers. - Do not use the pool or hot tub while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medications that cause drowsiness. - Guests with heart conditions, high blood pressure, pregnancy or other medical concerns should consult a doctor before hot-tub use. - Limit hot-tub soaking to **15–20 minutes**. - Do not use during lightning storms or if the water appears unsafe. - Replace pool and hot-tub covers after use.
By booking and using these amenities, guests acknowledge and voluntarily assume the risks associated with their use. The host/property owner is not responsible for accidents, injuries or illness resulting from their use.

Amazing place with incredible views! Our group of five had a great time, found the house comfortable with plenty of space. Lisa was a great host! Would definitely stay again.
Absolutely fabulous place! Would go back again! Great views, jacuzzi, play areas including very cool “barn” which had big screen TV, games, pool table, etc. Couldn’t have had a better time!
The views are just as described, absolutely stunning and it’s a great spot for a getaway! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for families with very small children, but older kids and adults will have a blast. Between the pool, hot tub, pool table, bocce ball, and variety of other games, there was plenty to do without even leaving the house. It’s close to downtown Calistoga and tons of wineries, making it a great home base for exploring the area. Just be prepared for some steep, winding roads getting there! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed, and the hosts were responsive whenever we had questions. Overall, it was well worth it, and we hope to be back sometime soon!
What a great property!! It was so beautiful— a magical view wherever we went — inside and out. The house was very clean and well stocked. Our host Lisa communicated quickly and provided extra local info to help plan our trip. I would highly recommend this lovely property.
From the views to the warm welcoming feeling of each room. Extremely comfortable beds, kitchen with all the things! Seriously serene and so relaxing!!!
We loved this rental. It was perfect! It was so relaxing! We soaked up in the hot tub as much as we can. The view was amazing! It was clean and had all the amenities we needed.
We had a wonderful stay in this perfect home on the side of the mountain. Anything you could possibly want or need is provided - kitchen is fully over stocked, toiletries (shampoo etc), games, etc. We loved using the hot tub while gazing at the stars at night and the porch was a great place to have breakfast every morning. Lisa was super attentive and answered my questions immediately. We can't wait to book another week in the future.
We loved this property!!! The views are spectacular and everything was perfect!!! We were a group of 6 women celebrating our 50th bday!!! We went from the house to Napa, Sonoma, Calistoga and St Helena. The house is near Calistoga were there are a few spa and spring water pools. It is 45min to 1hr to Sonoma and Napa . We didn’t mind driving. We went one night to eat
We had an amazing time for my Bachelorette! Lisa is a gem and very communicative. The views are even better than the photos and the space was very comfortable for our group. This place has everything you need and more for an unforgettable Wine Country weekend. We were in and out of Calistoga a lot and it's location was very convenient to get into town. Definitely have a brave person drive up and down for you (we are from the Midwest and it is very flat!). Thankfully, my future MIL helped drive us up and down as she is used to driving on steep grades. All in all, I would definitely recommend for your group if you are planning to visit Calistoga or any of the wine areas north of Napa. I would love to come back for future visits!
Loved the property! Excellent location and perfect place to hang out!! We really loved the barn adjacent to the house where we enjoyed pizza and watching the US in the World Cup!! The views from the deck are amazing!!

About the host

We are a family of 3. Our son is in college, so we are empty nesters. We lived in this home for 2 years before VRBO. We hope it shows. We love hosting guests in our home and sharing the beauty it provides.
Why they chose this property
355 Bodmer Lane is a spectacular property with easy access to Calistoga (Napa), Kenwood (Sonoma) and Healdsburg (Alexander Valley). The property feels extremely remote, but you are only 5 miles to Calistoga! Please note that the city of Napa and the city of Sonoma are both about a 50min drive away.
