Welcome to The Chairlift House, a 6-minute walk from Mountain Top Inn, with views across the Chittenden Reservoir, the horse pasture, and the Green Mountains beyond.

BUILT FOR WEDDING WEEKENDS
Most of our guests come for a wedding or event at the Inn, and the house is set up for exactly that. Walk to the ceremony and walk home after the reception, with no driving and no shuttles. Two queen suites hold the couples, and the bunk room fits the kids or the groomsmen. The night before, gather around the fire pit on the stone patio overlooking the lake.

Winter: Walk to one of Vermont's best cross-country ski networks:

25 miles of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing
12 more miles of backcountry trails
A 1.2-mile snowmaking loop for reliable early-season skiing
Terrain runs from easy to advanced, with real elevation. For downhill, Pico is about 27 minutes away and Killington about 33. The house also sits directly on the VAST snowmobile trail network, which runs north into Canada.

Spring and summer: Kayak or fish the Chittenden Reservoir. Mountain bike, road bike, play the area's golf courses, or visit Hathaway Farm.

Fall: Peak foliage, with the reservoir and mountains as your backdrop.

No parties or events at the house. Wedding guests are our favorite guests; the celebration happens at the Inn.

The view from this house is absolutely incredible and it’s so close to the Mountain Top Inn if you’re there for an event- it’s the perfect spot to stay.

Fall wedding weekend

My family and I stayed at this beautiful home with incredible views of the Chittenden Reservoir just up the road from the Mountain Top Resort. It was the perfect location for our friends wedding. We loved the huge deck. The house was very comfortable. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great stay

The owner was very responsive with communication. Told us all the info about the house we would need (WiFi passwords, etc). The house was clean, and plenty of space. The house is about 20-30 mins away from Killington Recommend renting from her if you’re in the area.

Our family is based in Rumson, NJ, and sometimes in Delray Beach, FL, but our hearts are in the Vermont mountains. We're outdoor people: skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, and anything that gets us outside. We love hosting because this house has given our family so many great memories, and we like knowing other families are making their own here, especially for weddings at the Inn. We take care of this place ourselves; my brother and I built the stone patio and fire pit by hand.

Why they chose this property

We came up to visit friends on the mountaintop and fell in love with this spot. It's quiet: lake views, horse pastures, and dark skies with bright stars at night. Yet Mountain Top Inn's restaurant, tavern, and spa are a 6-minute walk away. In winter, you can walk to miles of groomed cross-country trails, and the house sits right on the VAST snowmobile network, which runs all the way into Canada. It's the rare place that's peaceful and convenient at the same time.

What makes this property unique

The location you can't replicate: walk to Mountain Top Inn for a wedding, dinner, or the spa, and walk home. Wide views of the Chittenden Reservoir and mountains from a big second-floor deck and yes, there's a vintage chairlift chair on the grounds; that's where the name comes from. A hand-built fire pit for evenings outside. Sleeps 8 comfortably, with room to spread out across two living rooms. Cross-country ski and snowmobile trails at your doorstep, Pico about 27 minutes away, and Killington about 33.
