This is a wonderful old Taos adobe home. The original house (now bedroom #2) was once the home of a family of 9-kitchen and bath then were outdoors. It is thought to be 250+ years old and is considered an historical property. Like many Taos homes it was added to in the ensuing years.
This home is delightful for a couple. It is a spacious home which is unusual for an old adobe. The layout is perfect for a couple and would be especially comfortable for two couples since the two good sized bedrooms each have full, private baths and are separated by the sunroom and great room. There is a queen sofa sleeper in the sunroom and in the great room is another queen sofa sleeper. Both have new gel foam mattresses Both have all bedding. Cost for these sofa sleepers is $25 per guest per night which can be left at departure or added at time of booking. The house is cozy in the winter due to thick adobe walls, two operable kiva fireplaces and very efficient gas heaters in great room and each of the two bedrooms.. There is always a good supply of firewood under the carport. Summer is delightful and cool inside with screened operable windows and ceiling fans. There is a tabletop fan in 2nd bedroom. No ceiling fan here with low ceiling (6’). Great for outdoor living with a covered deck off master bedroom and a wonderful front flagstone patio/ covered portal with table and chairs, BBQ and outdoor fireplace with firewood provided. The house is furnished with interesting antiques. sculpture and original art. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready to produce those gourmet feasts or a quick snack for two. Bathroom #2 has a washer and dryer for those chores that call out even on vacation. The yard is fenced and well behaved dogs are welcome at a small additional fee. ($10 per night per dog. which you may leave at the home."Mutt Mitts" are located in a decorative box outside and "Dog Sheets" provided inside for sofas and beds. I offer a generous 50% discount for stays over 30 days and a set fee for 30day plus pets This home was featured on this summers Taos Home & Garden Tour in August for 500+ tour goers. This is my fourth home to be featured on a Tour! Too much fun and such a great compliment to my style! We just finished re doing both baths with tile and new tubs and great tilework around all kiva fireplaces as well as new flagstone hearths and bancos (benches). If my calendar shows this home as booked please look at Vrbo 273116 or Vrbo 860840. These are two and three bedroom homes that I also own in Taos.
The house has a wonderful, peaceful feeling and yet is only a few minutes from all Taos has to offer..good restaurants, shops, galleries, the Taos Pueblo and many great outdoor activities).

The property was pet friendly, I am not sure if there was a mountain view from inside the house. Honestly for those wanting to experience an authentic adobe home instead of a new contemporary house this is one of the coolest houses I have ever stayed in. If we could I would have stayed for a couple days. Very comfortable to just hang out in.
Our stay was awesome! The home was eclectic and cozy. A fire in the pit was perfect to come home to after a day on the mountain. Being able to enjoy the private yard with our fur babies made our stay extra special. Thank you Melissa, we hope to be staying again soon!
Nice little Adobe home, perfect for small family or two couples with 2 bedroom and 2 bath. Rustic, but clean and convenient to downtown Taos. Easy check-in and check-out.
We loved our historic adobe. The fluffy robes were a hit, the sofa bed I slept on was so comfortable. I made a fire in the kitchen fireplace every morning.and mostvl evenings. We enjoyd the sunsets on the back porch and the rainfall at night. We took our time to study all of the art work, probably years in collecting. The home had soul, and felt it was a labor of love on.Melissa's part. She had all the little things we needed in toiletries.

Thanks so much for your review.
I try to furnish all my homes with things I’d like to find if I were staying
Glad you admired my art. Yes, lots of collecting and all from local Taos artists!
This place is Totally Taos. Such an enchanting home and space. The trees and surroundings provide a peaceful oasis that's filled with the sounds of birds, frogs and coyotes, and incredible mountain views. The fenced yard was perfect for the two dogs. The location ideal for anything happening in Taos or nearby. We love it.

Such an awesome place. Very unique and charming and lots of history. Melissa was very accommodating with a last minute request to bring a dog with us (also a very friendly pet policy) and easy to communicate with as well. Would stay here again.
This home was awesome, the art everywhere was a nice reminder of where we were. Beautiful gate that opens to a pretty sweet sanctuary-like area. We were mistaken on our booking (totally my fault) and Melissa was so nice and understand, I really appreciated that grace!

Thanks so much for this nice review. So glad you enjoyed my home
This home has the original charm of old New Mexico. It is very clean and well kept. The beds and linens are very comfortable. All in all a terrific place to stay when in the Taos area.
We loved the stay in this classic adobe home with so much character. We had everything we needed. The place was clean and we loved the kiva fireplaces that were well-stocked with wood. Our dog enjoyed the backyard as well.
The home was a unique old adobe home that we really enjoyed. It is old, so comments about uneven floors and low doorways come with this. It was part of the charm for us. We enjoyed the rural area & the fenced in yard was perfect for our pets, and the cute porch off the master bedroom was blissful in the mornings. The home was clean and very comfortable. There were some ants in the kitchen, but for a 250 year old house, this is not unexpected.
This was such a sweet place! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to coming back!

About the host
Hosted by Melissa /Taos mgr.
I was a California landscaper who wanted a simpler life so I moved to Taos. I fell in love with an old adobe home by the river and bought it. Then I fell in love with another old adobe and bought it for a vacation rental. I now own 11 vacation rentals in Taos. Everything from one bedroom apartments, one two and three bedroom homes. All are listed on Vrbo.
Why they chose this property
I love old adobe homes. They have such substance, personality and character This house has a cozy and welcoming feeling that everyone who has stayed here comments on and yet for an old adobe is amazingly spacious. The house has a private enclosed yard, is nicely landscaped.
What makes this property unique
This home has the charm of an old adobe (original room 250 years+) but has all the modern amenities we expect. It is in a quiet location, yet only minutes from all Taos has of offer (i.e. restaurants, galleries, the pueblo and outdoor adventures) I love the deck for sunsets and the outdoor patio, the 2 working kiva fireplaces (Great room and Sunroom) the wood and brick floors and the 46 (count them!) overhead vigas as well as the 14' thick walls. I live in town and am available to answer any questions or provide information.
