Warm, inviting house on a lake, clean and organized as well. Stayed for a long weekend ski trip with my kids, who loved the downstairs pool table. Newport is a really nice little town, and Jay Peak is just a 20-30 minute drive. Probably even nicer in the summer!

We are so pleased you enjoyed our home and pool table and were able to ski! Yes, it's extra beautiful in the summer...if we decide to rent it then, we'll let you know! Thanks so much!
About the host
Hosted by Karla Haynie
(Photo: We are Buffalo Bills fans and travel often to Buffalo, NY, for games. Turns out we don't have any photos of us on the lake because we aim not to drop our phones/cameras into it. Hence, the football photo.)
We are Robbin and Donald Sawyer, married 39 years, with three grown children and two grandkids, plus a Bouvier des Flandres dog named Dessa. Welcome to our home!
We are still own a home in Cooperstown, NY, as well and decided to live there for the winter to be closer to our kids and grandkids. We rent that one, our Craftsman House, in the summer so if you love baseball, ask us! And this year, we are sharing our beautiful lake home with you! It is our actual home, not a prepped location to rent and we hope you love its peace, quiet, and beauty as much as we do. There is a story behind almost every item in it, many of them antiques, and if you want to know, just email Robbin.
Besides watching and attending football, together, we love to curl, cross country ski, walk and swim our dog, paddleboard (D) and kayak (R), eat out, travel, scuba dive, snorkel, hike, visit family, play board games. Donald also loves downhill skiing, golfing, mountain biking, playing pool, and race car driving. Robbin also loves to antique, talk with family and friends, walk the dog, watch for eagles, garden, take pictures of Donald doing scary things, and organize all of this!
Keep your eye out for our resident bald eagles! We see them begin nesting in March but have heard they dive for discarded fish of the ice fishermen all winter! We see them almost every day over Bluff Farm, the lake, or our house.
Don't miss the sunsets...the moon and stars...the deer...the squirrels and birds...the quiet. Enjoy the peace! Enjoy your stay!
Why they chose this property
We are in the woods, on the lake, under the moon and stars...while five minutes from stores, restaurants, downtown Newport, the golf course, a bike path to Canada, mountain biking and cross country skiing. We are 5 miles from the border of Canada and 30 minutes from Owls Head (please check border requirements if this is your plan!) and 30 minutes from Jay Peak for skiing.
This house is the perfect location for the natural flow of both being together and being apart, time alone and time together. All are accommodated at this property! Enjoy!
What makes this property unique
However redundant, we would like to reemphasize the peace, quiet, together, alone, games, movies, sleep, read, outside, inside, snow, ski, walk, bike, dinners in, dinners out, up time, down time, TIME. Best wishes!
