About this property

Stay in an authentic Cotton Gin

Our 3 bedroom private cotton gin has beautiful views of the Texas hill country and your house is bumped right up to the cattle pasture and next to our horse pasture with scenery everywhere. Relaxation and serenity is what you will find here at the ranch. Fish our privately stocked pond from the dock (catch an release only), watch the cattle, horses and deer in our pastures. Take walks throughout our property and gaze at the stars as only seen in a country sky near a warm camp fire toasting s'mores or have a relaxing drink. BBQ on your own pit in our outdoor setting area while the kids enjoy their own equipped playground.

Great location

The property was convenient for the Round Top shopping/experience. The property is safe. There were 5 of us, and it accommodated us appropriately. The house is a bit dated, dim lightening, kitchen glassware etc. sparse. The property could use a good cleaning and mirrors. The porch is magnificent to have cocktails and conversation.Jeff is a great host.

Busy Weekend

Because we were in town for a family wedding, we didn’t have enough time to really enjoy everything the property offers. Hope to go back one day & really check things out!

Peaceful country place

Spacious and clean, surrounded by beautiful countryside and horses. It’s a guest house on a working farm, so the family that owns the farm is around for help but are not intrusive. It’s out in the country on a dirt road and we did get lost a few times. So quiet and you can see a million stars from the front porch!

Lovely stay at Skull Creek Ranch

Our stay at Skull Creek ranch was perfect! We were a group of 5 women who were going shopping in Roundtop Texas and old Brenham Texas on our 4 day trip. Our hosts were fabulous! They were on call at all times....coming over to fix the TV a couple of times so that we could watch the Astros in the playoffs. Jeff was charming and full of information about the ranch, left us fixin's for mimosas in the fridge, made us a fire to sit outside at night, even cut the fields to make it easier for us to walk the property. One of the owners surprised us when she invited us to watch her train her arabian horse. It was a perfect stay. Book it! 5 STARS!!

Awesome Place with Awesome Hosts

If you want a quiet vacation from the hustle and bustle then this place is for you! It is also just a 10-minute drive to Round Top for shopping so we had the best of both worlds. The hosts were amazing and super friendly. The house and area is awesome. We spent most of our time out on the front porch. There is a playground area for small kiddos. Ok, honestly, I sat on the See Saw. There is a corn-hole and other games to play outside with a Charcoal BBQ Pit and fire pit. Inside is a split floor plan with 2 bedrooms on each side of the home with a Kitchen and living room in the center. We will definitely be back!

Absolutely beautiful!

Such a beautiful getaway in the absolute middle of nowhere! the house was very cozy and great for our crew. The hosts live on the property so were very attentive to any needs or questions that we had. The closest town and store is 20 minutes away which was excellent for us because that is what we love. We love to do our own cooking and just enjoy our time with friends and family. The kitchen was well equipped for the most part but a few more serving and plastic cooking spoons as well as serving bowls would have been helpful. The playground was amazing for our youngest daughter and she spent LOTS of time with the donkeys. The hosts definitely went above and beyond to make sure our three teens also enjoyed their stay and had a wonderful time as well!

Hello guests,
My name is Jeff Wilson and I am the manager of Skull Creek Ranch located in the hill country of Shelby Texas. The ranch has been in existence since the mid 1800's as a cotton plantation and cotton mill. After a devastating fire burnt the mill to the ground in the 1900's our beloved patriarch Carl Isgren rebuilt it from the original blue prints in 2020 to preserve its historic value to the Shelby area. The ranch covers 139 acres with an abundance of wildlife, scenic views and great fishing ponds. Our ranch also consists of a seed cottage house. Adult one bedroom RV’s and a RV park out of view and very private. A great child’s playground a horse arena that runs behind the guest house so you are right up and personal with the horses, the cotton mill and sorts/game house. We want you to feel at home here and enjoy the beauty of Skull Creek Ranch.
