Named after the local Ellis River, the Ellis yurt is tucked in a stand of evergreens within a 128 acre parcel that is home to our two yurt villages. Access to the front door is via a gentle inclined path just steps away from parking.
Inside the yurt you will find a kitchenette complete with a draining sink, insulated Stanley water jug, propane camp cook stove, enameled dinnerware set, Stanley cookware and coffee french press, silverware, and serving utensils. It is fully furnished with a bar table, 6 barstools, couch, 2 arm chairs, coffee table, and a timber frame loft area! The loft area has a lower queen bed and an upper queen bed. *Note* BEDDING IS NOT PROVIDED. Up to two dogs are welcomed with a pet fee of $20/night per dog. Doggy bags are provided for pet clean up and are located at the front door. Ample hooks are placed throughout the yurt for hanging jackets and drying wet gloves and hats near the fire. The yurt is equipped with a small solar system that powers the 12v LED lights and 4 USB outlets for charging phones, laptops, and iPads. *Note* guests should bring any adapters needed to plug into USB ports. Inside the guest binder guests will find instructions for the stove, solar system, windows and more, as well as a site map and Bethel area guides for dining and things to do. Solo stoves are provided for outdoor fires year round. Along the stone seating around outside, guests will find 4 adirondack chairs under strings of lights along with stacks of firewood and cast iron fireplace tools. Baskets of fire starter and kindling and lighters or matches are located inside. All provided at no additional fee!
Guests have convenient access to the nearby bathhouse. The interior of the farmhouse style bathhouse feels warm and inviting. Stained concrete floors are throughout and guests will enjoy the radiant heat on their bare feet when getting out of the shower in cold weather. The bathhouse has large rustic tub sinks for washing dishes and filling the water jug provided in each yurt. It houses a ladies’ and gent’s side, each with 2 private hot showers and 2 toilet stalls. There is a handicap accessible toilet stall available in both bathrooms.
Guests will enjoy the surrounding forest and trails that we continue to expand. Our primary goal at Western Maine Yurts is to provide our guests with a four-season lodging option that is as connected to nature as possible. We aim to give a more luxurious and convenient camping/glamping experience where you can enjoy a hot shower after a day of outdoor activities. We hope you will enjoy unplugging from the demands of daily life and pause to listen to the rain on the roof, birds singing in the morning, and the breeze blowing in the trees. Take the time to enjoy a cozy cuddle on the couch with your favorite beverage, and get out and explore all that Western Maine and the Bethel area have to offer.

Beautiful area and Yurt was clean and cozy. Only negative was the small canister for outside fire pit and no early check in. Overall great stay and would do it again
Easy check in, bathhouse was immaculate, clearly communicated what to expect of the place. Adorable trails to wander down too, only 5 minutes from down town but feels like your secluded.

Amazing property my dogs had a awesome time exploring the trails in the property
The Western Maine Yurts stay was a fun experience. It was clean and comfortable-- even in the coldest part of the Maine winter. I stayed 4 nights with my dog and we had a great time!
My friend and I enjoyed staying in the yurt! It was such a peaceful setting, the yurt was so interesting and the bathhouse very clean.

So cozy and clean! Loved staying in the yurt. The area is well taken care of , and we would love to come back. Close to skiing and plenty of trails to explore on the property. The yurt itself was spotless and very cozy
I own a home in the area but it was rented, so I booked the Yurt via VRBO. My friend and I loved the location and the yurt accommodations. It was such a cool experience to stay there and I would definitely stay there again!! The owners really put thought into the details and it showed!
This was the second time staying here. Had a great time.
We were a group of 3 friends who snow shoes and x- country ski, it was perfect. Just “ roughing it” enough but the bathrooms and showers were perfect. Yurts are well made and beautiful. Also kudos to the addition of Solo stoves. We will bd returning next year. Thank you
This property is almost brand new with beautiful woodwork throughout. We were so taken with the artistry that we were very careful with our food and any water usage not to leave a surface wet or with the potential for staining. Western Maine Yurts is like a 5 star facility for us because the yurts and the bathhouse are so cool. We did not have ANY issues. Perfection.
Western Maine Yurts is a small, locally owned and operated business. Owner, Alex, can be found on site doing anything from property maintenance to cleaning. He dreamed up the vision for Western Maine Yurts and personally designed and built the property from the ground up; from excavation and site work to raising the yurts and furnishing the interiors. He has a passion for fly fishing and exploring the rivers of Western Maine. His love for Maine rivers inspired the yurt names. A artist at heart, he also enjoys creating art inspired by his fly fishing adventures. Now a Registered Maine Fly Fishing Guide, he is excited to offer guide services from the yurts, connecting guests to his favorite spots on local rivers.
Why they chose this property
As a local Western Mainer, Alex chose Bethel, Maine for the glamping villages with the goal of creating a launching point for outdoors enthusiasts, artists, fly fisherman, skiers, snowboarders, etc. to base their adventures from. Bethel is the gateway to the Western Mountains and rivers of Maine! From here you have close access to the White Mountain National Forest, Grafton Notch State Park, the mighty Androscoggin River, Sunday River Ski Area, Mt Abram Ski Area and Bike Park and so much more. We pride ourselves in helping put clients in touch with the best nature has to offer. Bethel Village has a variety of delicious local eats, small shops, and independent local entertainment to offer.
What makes this property unique
Our yurts keep guests close to nature and Bethel Village and are furnished to be the coziest most comfortable "camping" experience. The property was designed to have as low and impact of the local forest as possible. Guests may spot local wildlife like nesting hawks, deer, and occasionally moose! Our bathhouse is not your average campground bathroom experience. The facilities are modern, kept very clean, and designed with your comfort in mind (on demand hot water, adjustable shower heads, heated floors!)
