Great place for family time. Just not for lake time in March.
We loved the property, and the house was lovely for what we wanted and needed. We took our grandchildren and allowed their parents to tag along with us. ;) In spite of the wind and cold, everyone still had a great time together. March is not a great time of year to go to any lake in Texas; we Coloradans are finding out. Since it is unpredictable in March, we will go someplace that is guaranteed not to be cold and windy for our spring break next year. You cannot take advantage of being on a lake in March, but come May, it's where you'll want to be for fun, sun, and family time.
The weather didn't co-operate but that was no problem! The screened in porch made an amazing hangout and Leslie was on top of everything! The only issue we had was that the cleaning lady was at the house at check in time and we had to ride around a bit....and that was no fault of the home owner! We are planning a time to go back in the summer and can't wait! The bottom of the lake is sandy and slopped at the dock and will be PERFECT for swimming and water activities!
This property was as advertised. It was a bit tight for 8 people (4 adults + 4 children), but everyone had a comfy bed to sleep in. The neighborhood was not as expected, but the property itself was lovely with a great view and access to the lake (lots of fishing!). I would stay at this property again with fewer people. Were happy with our stay!
Everything you need to have a great long weekend or extended stay. Beautiful home on a gorgeous lot! Great dock to fish from with pretty views. Thanks again for the wonderful weekend!!
This group of four ladies have been on many trips together over the last 15 years, and this was by far our favorite location. The lake house was spectacular - clean, comfortable, plenty of room to gather or have individual space, excellent amenities, well appointed kitchen with EVERYTHING we could have needed. Appreciated the welcoming touches of signage/instructions - even S’mores makings, though sadly we didn’t partake. We initially were drawn to the property because of the many relaxing outdoor gathering areas, and these didn’t disappoint - screened in porch for morning coffee, outside deck for lunch, fire pit area, and adult beverages on the dock watching the sunset. Wow! The weather was perfect and we all agreed this was one of our favorite adventures. We also got tickets for the last Wine Train of the season on the Texas State Railroad. If you have a chance to go, you won’t be disappointed. Thanks for sharing your lovely home, Leslie. It was definitely the getaway we all needed!
Great place for a weekend getaway for the family. Enjoyed our stay, good fishing, beautiful scenery, and memories made. Communication with the host has been fantastic.
This house was very peaceful and perfect for us. Our favorite evening spot was at the table in the screened in porch.

Great place, but you’ll be watched.
The house was great, right on the lake with its own dock and all the amenities were there. Our problems were with the owner. She’s got notes ALL over the place, which most times can be helpful, but this time it felt intrusive. “Don’t use too much toilet paper!” Put it all in a book of house rules. Our 1st convo was her instructing us to limit showering and not to use the washer due to recent high rainfall. It’s hot& the lake smells like fish and you’re asking us to not take showers? She then said that there’s an extra lockbox in case the electronic lock on the front door doesn’t work. It didn’t work, and it took her almost 30min to get back to me to get the code for this lockbox “i haven’t used in a while, I hope the code’s correct!” The lock didn’t respond multiple times throughout our visit and at one point the code itself wasn’t working, which made it difficult for the 5 of us to have our own plans with just 1 key. She then used her smart thermostat in the house to change the temp we had set it to without our knowledge! We woke in the night sweating and uncomfortable b/c of that. I can’t believe that someone would do that to their guests. Apparently, in her house you’re not allowed to go outside of 73-78F, which wasn’t posted in her many notes throughout the house. I we did have it pretty low, but it seems she’s concerned w/ saving $, not her guest’s comfort. Have fun with that.
Peaceful and beautiful. The ONLY thing that could have made this experience better was more time there! The house had everything you could need. It was cute, comfortable and very clean. The back porch and deck and boat dock were awesome. I caught nine fish off the walk to the dock in less than an hour. We sure hope to become regulars at this spot. Leslie is an excellent host. Thank you so much.
We loved this home - it had everything we needed and we loved that it was right on the water! Communication with Leslie was easy and helpful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat if we are back in the area. Thank you!
If your looking for peace and quiet, this is the place. Spent our anniversary weekend here and enjoyed the taking walks, sitting around the fire and on the porch overlooking the lake. Leslie was a great host with awesome communication.
We really enjoyed time out on the dock, very relaxing. Home is very nice and updated. Great location. It was actually cold enough to enjoy a fire in the fire pit with smores. We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area.
We absolutely loved our stay at the beautiful, peaceful home! The dock was amazing to just sit out and watch the water and feel the breeze! My kids caught 15 fish!!! That was so fun! We kayaked, paddle-boarded, and floated around! My kids loved the Sandy- bottom beach! The beds were very comfortable and the home was beautiful, clean, and offered so many things that made it feel like we were at home. The owner was extremely responsive and helpful during our entire stay! It was just the trip we needed before school starts!
Reasonably nice property that is somewhat dated. Bunk beds are apparently counted as sleeping accomodations for 6 people (3 in each). My grands are young adults and there was no way they were able to use the upper bunks or 2 people in the lower bunks. Should be detailed info on weight limit for upper bunks. All that said we had a great time and enjoyed our long weekend.
We enjoyed our stay here. There was 2 paddle boards, an adult kayak, and 2 kids kayaks. The water was amazing; clean sandy bottom and warm. There was a lot of seating indoors and especially outside, that we enjoyed utilizing.
Our host answered all of my questions and needs right away. Even with the 17 hour car ride we'd consider coming back!
As a VRBO Property Owner by default we set a very high bar when we stay at other properties.
With the above said, I recently had the pleasure of staying at a beautiful house on Lake Palestine, Texas, and I can confidently say that it was a truly wonderful experience.
The house itself was a haven of comfort with tasteful decor that exuded warmth and charm. The owners had clearly paid meticulous attention to detail, as every amenity one could desire was readily available.
One of the highlights of my stay was the breathtaking view from the house's windows. We spent many hours on the deck, having morning coffee and enjoying the nature. The house also featured a private dock, allowing easy access to the water for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the gentle lapping of the water.
In conclusion, my stay at this Lake Palestine house was a terrific experience. From the stunning location and well-appointed accommodations to the warm hospitality of the host, everything was simply exceptional. I highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat in the heart of Texas.

Mom of 3 boys. We have so many wonderful family memories at this home. We come out as often as possible in between the kids crazy extra curricular schedules. I hope you find as much enjoyment here as we do!
Why they chose this property
With such great open spaces and so many places to relax, this is the perfect spot for family and friends. The screened porch is so nice in the rain or to escape mosquitos. The open deck is wonderful for an open air dinner by the grill. The firepit landing is perfect for late night lounging and star gazing and the dock is the SPOT for sunsets. We fell in love with this home right away and have never looked back.
What makes this property unique
This property is in a wonderful spot on the lake - near deep water and the dam- and we would be happy to recommend boat rentals or jet ski rentals as well.
