We stayed here for the close proximity to the Kris Kindle market. This historic house was very cute, comfortable beds, and large living that our party of five could just sit back and unwind after a long day of shopping.
The location of this place was great! We were able to walk around downtown. We loved the living room spaces downstairs.
One comment is that it is listed at 10 beds, but a handful of these beds are couches and sleeper sofas. It worked for us because we used air mattresses, but please beware of that (it does say this in the listing, just reiterating).

We arrived at 10:00 at night and ended up not staying at this property due to what we considered an unclean property with a very pungent animal urine smell in the upstairs area where the beds are located. Anyone knows what this smells like and it has probably seeped into the hardwood flooring. The furniture in the living area was old, broken down and stained. The photographs on the listing are enhanced and are not a true depiction of the space which in reality would appear to look like run down college student housing at best. The freezer was full of frozen dog treats. One of the "beds" appears to be just a green chez lounge. Parking is around the block on the street or around the block in a pay to park lot. The front door landing and railing is raw plywood that is starting to give way when stepped on. We advised the owner who denied any odors, claimed he lived there a few days a week and that the dog treats were in the freezer because he makes and sells them at a local market of sorts. Maybe he is used to the smell. The owner also claimed the front door landing was currently under repair. Online Google photos dated 9 months earlier (Aug. 23) show the same front door landing in disrepair. We asked for a refund which was never received. We ended up paying for 3 hotel rooms at the Hyatt Place a few blocks away. We have stayed at many VRBO properties and this one was easily the worst. It is advertised for what it is not.

It’s inevitable in the customer service industry, that you’ll have someone who picks apart every little detail & makes things seem like the worst ever.
Let me say that I have almost a 5 star status on my property on multiple platforms.
I’ve already addressed the above items with the homeowner shortly after he messaged me with his concerns, But I’ll reiterate it here as well.
Yes the front porch has been under construction for a while. That’s because a contractor took money and never finished the job, so i now have to finish it myself. The porch, although not the prettiest right now, poses no safety concerns & doesn’t directly affect your stay inside of the house.
The yellow chair, again i acknowledged with the guest, does have some permanent stains from previous guests, but has been thoroughly cleaned & is being replaced.
The freezer full of frozen dog treats are treats I make & sell at farmers markets & occupied a little over 1/4 of the freezer space, not all of the freezer space like the guest claimed.
Finally to the most important complaint in my mind, the odor in the house. One, I do not allow guests to bring pets of any kind in our home, so animal urine smell inside is not the case. Also, I stay at the house a couple nights a week and we there the day before their check in & noticed no smell. To be on the safe side, i asked my cleaner if she noticed any smells inside of the house & said the house smelled fine. Furthermore, we had guests prior and after, and no more complained or made any mention of any smells in the house.
Also in the photos & details of the listing and details of check in/out info, it states ahead of your stay that 2 of the “beds” are fold down couches that turn into beds.
For all of these reasons I did not approve a full refund, but I did offer a partial refund which was not responded to. I did also offer to have a VRBO representative come inspect the house if they thought these complaints merit a full refund.
We stayed here for the Celtic Classic. It was a manageable walk to the fairgrounds with plenty of restaurants along the way to take care of any meals. The property was charming--the front porch was especially relaxing! Only one bathroom, but that's typical for these houses. We had a lovely time.

Why they chose this property
I love Bethlehem. The downtown area on both the historic & south side is vibrant and bustling & unassuming.
What makes this property unique
Our property is close enough to the downtown area that it’s easily walkable, but far enough away that most of the times parking is not an issue.
