About this property

Tranquil waterfront near Rockland, Fall is booking up!

Please note- we offer a FULL RENT REFUND for cancellations IF we can re-book your time slot (this is separate from VRBO policy).

A perfect spot for family gatherings, this light-filled house is right on the shore of a tidal salt-water river with access via your own dock in the summer. We are on a quiet, dead end road, but only minutes from the best of mid-coast Maine. Great area for biking, birding, kayaking and hiking and exploring. The house is also an excellent spot for remote work, complete with high speed Wifi and desks. For those occasional hot days, we do have AC if you need it.

Hayden Point is a very clean and comfortable house situated on its own private waterfront with steps and a floating dock (in warm months) for direct access. From our dock, you can paddle down a peaceful river to the Gulf of Maine. Large windows give unobstructed views of the water from most rooms and there is plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. Hayden Point is a relaxing retreat that makes access easy for anyone with limited mobility. Our large deck overlooks the lawn and water.

The kitchen contains everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, but you also can get some of the best lobster in Maine 5 minutes away, and you are only five miles from downtown Rockland. Camden Hills State Park is a short distance as well.

This spacious craftsman style home built in 2004 has 2.5 baths and sleeps 8 adults in three bedrooms (children are welcome, too!). Everything is on the ground floor except the third bedroom and bath. On the ground floor, a private master suite with water views has a king-size bed and sitting area, a large bathroom with a custom walk in shower, and two vanities (one within the bathroom and one in the hallway to the bath). A second bedroom on the ground floor has a queen-sized bed and small sitting area, and a nearby half bath. Upstairs there is a second full bath off a very large bedroom with a big sitting area, games table and 180 degree spectacular water views. The king-sized bed in this room can be separated into two extra-long twin beds and there also is a queen sleeper sofa. A portable crib is provided as well. The house has a great deal of closet space and drawers for storage. All linens are provided and are 100% cotton. A washer and dryer on the ground level provided as well.

The ground floor has the main living space with an open dining room, which seats 6-8 people, and living room overlooking the lawn and the water beyond. The kitchen is fully-equipped with solid-surface counter tops, cherry cabinetry, an electric oven, gas cook-top, dishwasher, trash-compactor, microwave, double-door refrigerator and dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. The kitchen has a breakfast nook and double French doors leading to the wraparound deck. The deck has a sun shade, table, plenty of seating and two grills.

The living room and den area is outfitted with comfortable and stylish furnishings, flat-screen television, Roku and fire stick for streaming, and high speed Wifi for internet access. In addition to heat pumps for air conditioning, there is a whole-house back-up generator, so no need to worry about power loss. Large windows overlook the deck and the expansive lawn and waterfront. Novels, local guide books and maps are also included.

South Thomaston is located just five miles from downtown Rockland, 15 miles from Camden/Rockport and five miles from the St. George Peninsula and the villages of Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde. Hayden Point is less than 10 minutes from Primo, one of the best restaurants in New England. There is also a boat launch open for public use about one half mile from the Hayden Point House, and beautiful Birch Point state park with a beach about five minutes away.

We have a professional caretaker on call during your stay should any problem arise. Dogs are allowed with owner permission and additional pet fee.

We had a wonderful time staying at Kay's lovely home. The home is spacious and comfortable and the kitchen has everything that you need. There are beautiful views of the water. Even on the hottest days (which reached into the 90s) the house was cool and comfortable and there were lovely breezes down near the water.

This is a very nice house with lots of space and comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped. The house is right on a tidal river so the river empties out at low tide. Paddling at high tide was delightful. We love that it was dog friendly. The owner gave us a wonderful list of nearby restaurants, food shopping, hiking and biking options. Rockland is just up the road and is a sweet town with lots of galleries and shops. Don’t miss the Farnsworth Museum. I would definitely come back.

The house was very comfortable for us. Kay was helpful with good information about the area and even helped hook us up with a local birding group. We loved the location for access to the water, restaurants, lobsters and oysters, and spectacular sunsets. We spent a month and it went by quickly. Hope to return soon.

This is a beautiful house on a tidal river near South Thomaston. We enjoyed the spacious, well-equipped kitchen, big dining table, and comfortable bedrooms. We launched our boats from the floating dock in front of the house. We had to be mindful of the tidal level to paddle, as it was a mud flat at low tide. We also had wonderful biking trips on the quiet roads in the area. A bike trip over to Clark Island to swim in the quarry was a highlight. Also visited Ash Point and Owl's Head by bike. There was a big deck to sit out on. A big rhododendron blocks the view of the ocean from the deck, but there are great views from all the rooms. The sunset is stunning. The upstairs suite has a beautiful sitting area and fabulous views.Overall, it was a roomy, comfortable house for our group of six.

We thought our stay was ideal. The house is spacious with comfortable furnishings, good beds and an easy to cook in kitchen. The location is so picturesque with a nice yard, water access although in snowy December we weren’t taking advantage of that.Kay is very helpful and responsive. It was a lovely spot for our family Christmas.

Kay was so easy to communicate with. The house is so comfy and relaxing. Hardly heard any noise while in the house, except birds chirping. So close to everything. 15 mins to Rockland, 30 mins to Camden. We will visit again!

Why they chose this property

Our house is quiet and away from it all, but only a 10 minute drive from Rockland, which has an abundance of shops, restaurants, galleries and lots to do. We have been going to Maine for more than 20 years and this is our favorite area by far.

What makes this property unique

Gorgeous sunsets over the water and beautiful morning and evening light. You can walk down onto the dock for your morning coffee. Most rooms have a water view through large windows. Clutter-free house with spacious, peaceful atmosphere.
