Ruth was a wonderful guest. We had had a terrible snow storm with ice covering our driveway which we were still working to clear. She was so patient and kind. We loved having her here and we definitely would welcome her back
Pam (and the sweet cats and dogs) were very welcoming! The apartment was clean with everything we needed. The beds were comfy. We enjoyed walking around the farm and strolled down to the pond, the river, and up and down the beautiful blacktop driveway. We'd love to return
We spent almost a month at this property and enjoyed our time there! The hosts were excellent and made us feel at home. Would highly recommend and hope to visit again.

This was our second time staying. We really enjoy this place. It is such a Beautiful farm with lots to explore! My 8 year old and 4 year old had a blast and wished we could have stayed longer! We will be returning!
Was pretty much perfect for what we needed. Have several food allergies so was great to have a kitchen and it was very clean. Bed in the one room is a little high for the wife but overall a great place to stay
We absolutely loved our time staying here. The hosts were so accommodating and helpful, the location is gorgeous and convenient, the animals were adorable and we had everything we needed! Such a great stay for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. We would definitely recommend staying here! :)

From the moment you pull down the drive way it is absolutely peaceful and beautiful! The house was very clean and exactly as described. Our family really enjoyed staying here. The walk to the pond was amazing!! We would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend!
Every aspect of our stay was nothing short of magical. Ms Pam was a top tier host and the rental was gorgeous. The views, the river access, the sweetheart dogs, cats and cows. We are already trying to figure out a trip back. The apartment was perfectly stocked with everything we could think of, and was decorated and taken care of with so much love. Thank you for an absolutely perfect stay, and we can’t wait to join you again soon, Ms Pam!
This property was only 5 miles from the rest of our family so the location was ideal. It was clean and comfortable. Even saw and pet a newborn calf that was born only hours before.
Peaceful and friendly escape doing wineries and weddings.
Booked for proximity to wedding at Mt Ida and wineries, and delighted we did. Super well appointed, peaceful, friendly host family, and equally friendly host furfamily! Highly recommend for a very comfortable stay while taking in the peace of the acreage, paths to James River and property pond, fire pit, proximity to great wineries, and beautifully kept guest home. Would have paid 2x for this experience, so great value!

About the host
Hosted by Pam, Charlie, and George
I was born in Maryland and moved to Virginia where I attended college and received my B.A. I worked for several universities and for a Congressman on Capitol Hill before moving to the farm. I met George, my husband, in college. Several years later I came to see him where he was living on the farm. The farm seemed so peaceful and very tranquil and its natural beauty with the rolling hills and river overwhelmed me. Almost 40 years later I am still on this wonderful farm, full of animals, a pond, river view and the majestic 100 year old oak trees that surround our home. I enjoy gardening, rescuing dogs and cats that live here and seeing the wildlife that is abundant. I enjoy meeting our wonderful guests and hoping they enjoy the scenic views and natural beauty as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
This farm has been in my husband’s family for several generations. He inherited this wonderful farm and we hope to pass it on to the next generation. The 106 acres is bordered by the scenic James River. Our river entrance enables people to wade, tube, kayak, and fish in the river. We have over a mile of roads and trails for you to walk for drive. The property has a pond with a dock where you can sit and enjoy bird watching, seeing Mountain Laurel and wildlife. The panoramic view from the guest house is beautiful and our loving animals are available to pet and enjoy.
What makes this property unique
Once you are here on the farm, you feel so relaxed and it seems like you are miles away in the country, but the Town of Scottsville is less than 5 minutes away offering multiple restaurants to dine, a local brewery, small shops to shop, and a grocery store. Some wineries are only 10 to 20 minutes away. Charlottesville is 25 minutes.
