Private Retreat on 10 Acres Minutes from Monticello, Wineries & Charlottesville!
Nestled down a half mile gravel road you will find a peaceful serene home surrounded by the great outdoors without another house in sight. Conveniently located only 6.8 miles from downtown Charlottesville this charming 3 BR / 3.5 Bath country retreat comes with all the amenities of modern life. There are four wineries within 6.5 miles of the house as well as historic sites such as Monticello & Ash Lawn which are each about 5 minutes away. The house is bright and airy, features all hardwood flooring throughout, a large kitchen, screened in porch and separate outdoor seating area by a babbling fish/frog pond. Below the house is a fire pit surrounded by 8 Adirondack chairs as well as directly accessible walking and horse trails through bordering land which is under conservation easement.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The master is very spacious and bright with a king bed, large, padded headboard and its own full bathroom and tub and 65 inch Smart TV mounted on the wall. The second bedroom features a queen bed and is very bright and airy surrounded by windows. The third bedroom features two twins and both of these bedrooms share a full bath which features fully tiled and glass enclosed shower.
Finally, in the walk out basement there queen-size pull-out sofa bed, gaming/poker table, 65-inch Smart TV, dart board and complete with its own full bathroom with glass enclosed tiled shower. All bathrooms are supplied with salon grade shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, towels and washcloths.
On the main floor there is a 65-inch smart TV and sitting room with a large bay window looking over the yard to the woods. Also in the room is a piano and wood burning fireplace with two cozy wingback chairs.
The kitchen is bright and large and well equipped with a large sink, dishwasher, disposal, gas range and an assortment of high quality cookware/knives. For coffee lovers there is Keurig Machine (several K-cups provided) or a 12 cup Cuisinart drip Coffeemaker. Also provided are a large variety of spices and basic cooking necessities such as sugar, flour, salt, pepper, cooking oils, vinegars, etc. The kitchen has its own breakfast seating area or you can wander out the back door and relax in the screened in porch. The dining room, visible from the kitchen, comfortably seats six, although you could squeeze eight.
Much of the nearby land behind the house is all under conservation easement and you may enjoy taking one of the many walking/horse trails which are quite extensive. There is a full vegetable garden and small orchard on property which I maintain. You can relax in the outdoor seating area by the fish pond to the sounds of babbling water in the background or lounge in comfortable Adirondack chairs under the tall surrounding oak trees while enjoying the fire pit. This is truly a ‘get away’ retreat and you will leave feeling relaxed and recharged!

The home was well outfitted; the large fireplace and access to firewood there was really appreciated. The boat was very responsive to questions about the property or need for minor household items. We loved the quiet setting and places to walk in the woods.
Rental was even better than expected. Kitchen was a great size and fully stocked. The home is clearly loved by its owners and well taken care of. Awesome private lot with a very private feeling. The rooms were comfortable and there were plenty of nice bathrooms and sleeping areas.
What a beautiful relaxing stay. We enjoyed the property and generous supply of firewood for a cozy bonfire. And, thank you for the bottle of local wine! Yum!
Site had everything we needed to make our stay the perfect place to renew good friendships and relax inside and outside. James was most accommodating and sincerely cared that we would have a wonderful visit. All of us were very happy with this site.
Beautiful home and property in a quiet peaceful setting! Convenient to downtown but in a small, quiet wooded neighborhood, which we really enjoyed. Lots of deer in the mornings. We had a perfect stay and wish we could have stayed longer.
My three sisters and I stayed here for a long weekend. The location is excellent for touring Monticello, wineries and Charlottesville. Large kitchen was well stocked. Great screened in porch with quiet sounds of nature. The house lighting was a little dim for four old ladies but the hot water showers were great. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit. This C is a very hospitable home.
This home in the woods is well-equipped for a comfortable and fun stay. Lots of places inside and out to enjoy. The host offers thoughtful details (toiletries; a bottle of wine to welcome you; a well-equipped kitchen with spices, condiments, etc.) My pet was welcome and she had lots of grass to roam and sniff and deer to see. The house is located in a remote area but still close to Monticello, wineries, orchards, and downtown Charlottesville. We are recommending it to friends and would return if in the area again.
I grew up on a farm in very rural eastern tidewater VA (northern neck) learned to find pleasure in life of very simple things. After graduating from college I left for the big city down south (Atlanta) where my eyes grew wide as I approached the skyline and knew this was going to be home for the next phase of life. There I stayed for a very fast 8 years and did a quick stint out in San Diego for 2 years before feeling the call to return back to the home state of VA. Charlottesville was a completely new experience but one that I was quite certain would be a very welcomed change which it was. Since moving I have completely fallen for this town, the way of life here, the culture, people and the proud sense of community.
Why they chose this property
As I approached my mid 30's I couldn't disregard the calling to return to a rural setting and embrace slowing things down a bit. I was anxious to get my hands in the dirt and grow my own food and hear the crickets and frogs at night and leave the lights of the big city behind. After buying the property I quickly realized this was exactly the perfect fit!
What makes this property unique
Spending just a few days here always recharges my batteries for new challenges or traveling for work. Whether I am working in the garden, cutting wood, cooking a fresh grown meal or just relaxing outside soaking up the afternoon sunshine this place is the perfect getting away and enjoying the simplicities of life.
