The Space:
***Great Holiday Spot - Road Access - No Storm Damage. The Town of Blowing Rock is Open and Thriving!***
The View is true to it's name, offering the gorgeous, long distance, layered mountain vistas that make the mountains of NC a popular tourist destination. The home is the perfect spot for the whole family to gather and enjoy rural mountain living in a casual environment. The home sits on 14 acres in a semi-remote setting, accessed by a long and narrow mountian driveway that will require a high clearance vehicle for most travelers. You will definitely know you are adventuring in the mountains. This comfortable, no-frills home offers privacy and room to explore, as well as access to the shopping and restaurants of downtown Blowing Rock, a 15 minute drive away. Recently, the owners have completed tree removal to keep the View beautiful, and have added new living room furniture (table, sofa, recliner) for your comfort.
When you enter the front door, view the mountains through the ceiling to floor glass windows of the great room, where you can enjoy Sattelite TV, Wi-fi, or a game of pool. Walk out onto the deck for an evening beverage and soak in the mountain air or enjoy your first night in the sparkling four man hot tub with a view. Hot tub towels provided. Enjoy the evening by the firepit with chairs and a picnic table.
The kitchen is fully equipped with standard range, oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, cookware, dishes, glassware, and utensils for whipping up a quick snack or cooking and serving a full course meal. New refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave are ready to make meals even easier. Breakfast is a snap with all the necessary small appliances on hand, including blender, toaster, and drip coffee maker. The dining table in the great room seats up to 10, plus there is bar stool seating for an additional four at the kitchen bar.
The main level offers a King Master Suite with sitting area and deck access, television, closets, night stands, dresser and comfortable bedding. The ensuite bath includes a jetted tub, glass block shower with tile, and his and her sinks. There is a second King bedroom, with a hallway bath, also on the main level, where your guests or parents will feel equally at home with their own television, dresser, closet, night stand and comfy bedding.
The upstairs includes one Bunk Room with a full bed and bunk beds, plus a trundle under the bunk, and also a Queen bedroom, each with a moderately sized ensuite bath with shower/tub combination. Just outside these upper level bedrooms is a Foosball table, and a sitting area with bookshelves, where you can spend some quiet time reading or enjoying the view over the balcony. Every bedroom has it's own television. A sofa bed adds sleeping space for an additional child or two.
Guests who stay longer are sure to appreciate the laundry room with full-sized washer and dryer, the many closets for storage, and the spaciousness of the house.
It bears repeating that Mountain views of this kind are pretty hard to find without mountain driving and the road to this house is no exception. The road is a narrow, gravel, mountain road, with some drop offs, pot holes, and potentially ruts after a rain. However, the road is not unduly steep. A 4 wheel drive vehicle with some clearance is recommended year-round to navigate ruts and potholes created when there is inclement weather and is definitely required from November through March to handle any frost, ice or snow. Low clearance vehicles are not advised at any time of year.

I enjoyed the remoteness of the home and the warm comfortability of our stay. The home checked all our boxes- view, comfy beds, wood burning fireplace and solitude. Will stay here again.
Wonderful, spacious deck for viewing the mountains; fun to have pool table right in the main room; felt so far from everything and yet the drive into Blowing Rock was easy.
We stayed at the view for my parents 60th wedding anniversary. It was perfect- secluded enough to want to stay - the view was absolutely beautiful- sunrise! The variety of birds kept us motivated to see more! Lodge itself was as comfortable as home. Thanks for the great stay. And ample parking - we will be back!

we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! You and family are welcome back anytime.
Cabin and view were very good! Family enjoyed back deck and fire place in great room. Very secluded stars were bright. Sunrises were perfect. Although the description of the driveway up to the cabin is mentioned it does not prepare you for what you get. Obvious that it can be better maintained. The rest of trip was great! Would definitely return for another stay!
We stayed at this property with our two toddlers and our friends with their toddler. We loved this house! Great views, nice room set up, and it was possibly the cleanest rental house I’ve ever stayed in. We stayed for 3 nights and the garbage bags/paper towels/toilet paper provided were enough. The road to reach it isn’t too bad most of the way — hilly gravel. The last stretch of driveway is bumpier and steep; definitely need more than 2WD in icy/slick conditions. Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay!

Thank you Alyssa! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Thank you for the accurate description of the road in!
We give you 5* across the board---I hit enter before the last two, so I wanted you to know you were a great guest and hope to host you again!
The view is spectacular. We didn’t have any complaints! Everything was clean and orderly and easy to find. We would go back in a heartbeat and have already recommended the property to friends.
House and location are as advertised. If you are staying longer than a few nights, you will need to bring basic supplies. Otherwise, everything is read to go for a mountain getaway.
We would have given it five stars and would love to come again if the owner would work on just their own part of the driveway. The rest was not too bad but once you turned onto 4242 the drive has not been maintained. Fabulous Sunrises!
The home was beautiful and perfect for the three households to get to spend time together. All the bedrooms were equally nice and comfortable and the gathering areas generous and well equipped. Our family particularly enjoyed the pool table and outdoor decks. The road and driveway were a bit of a challenge but were clearly described in the listing. We would enjoy staying here again.
Our parents flew in from Chicago for a long weekend visit with the grandkids. It ended up being the weekend Hurricane Ian hit. We were so warm and cozy in the house during the crazy wind and rains. The house had everything we needed to hunker down and enjoy time together. Wonderful stay!
The home, property, view, amenities, cleanliness, everything about the home was OUTSTANDING but the access road was the WORST! If not for the access road we would return and we would recommend to others. But, because of the access roads to the property we will NEVER RETURN nor do we recommend to others. Fix the access roads and we would gladly return.

Thomas, so surprised to see this review. I am glad that you found the house itself to be outstanding but obviously you were not happy with the access. We spoke before you even arrived and I mentioned the gravel driveway and that the turn up to the house was a little rocky. You said everyone was driving SUV's so it would not be an issue. All of the roads up until you turn up the driveway are state maintained roads which we have no control over. The terrain is mountainous and roads are not broad boulevards and many times gravel and curvy. It's just a fact of life here--perhaps it would be wise for you to inquire in detail regarding the type of access you wish rather than booking a very popular home and then being so unhappy driving our roads that you give such a negative review. You did mention that you had read the guest reviews before booking and that that contributed to your booking this home so you fully understand how important a review is but hopefully our guests who understand our mountain twists and turns will just enjoy the "prize" at the end of that .4 mile driveway and continue to enjoy this lovely home.
I was very disappointed with the fact that the rule stated “ No Smoking” on the premises yet when we got there, there was an ashtray outside with a bucket for butts on the porch. My friend came with us, but her boyfriend stayed home because he could not smoke, so unfortunately, he was not here with her in which he should’ve been so that he could’ve been here with her and enjoyed himself

Hi Deborah, I’m very sorry about that. Smoking is definitely not allowed, and there should not have been ashtrays on the premises. We hope your stay was peaceful otherwise. Thank you for letting us know.
Perfect relaxing weekend, we ate in each night played cards , billards and watched football. Great fireplace and we did venture into town on Friday and had a great time.
