I first want to say, the communication with the property manager was very quick and helpful. That being said, I've traveled extensively since retiring and found this place not suitable. Maybe i booked in haste since it was a last minute trip. This place was extremely small. If you are 6'0" or over , good luck using the shower. I had bend my knees to wash my face and shampoo my head, which by the way no shampoo was provided along with a small bar of soap and when i inquired about more soap, I was told to go and buy more myself. Two people for 7 days , not a chance it would last. No kleenex provided either. The walls are thin so hopefully you dont have loud neighbors. No dishwasher . Upon leaving I was requested to do the laundry for the used towels and sheets which you have to carry that load downstairs to a laundromat that you have to pay to use ( bring quarters) that in itself is unheard of. Needless to say ,I didn’t do that. Why do I pay a cleaning fee ??? I did wash and put away the dishes, but without a dishwasher its just not right, again , cleaning fee !!!. I would NOT recommend this place.
We really enjoyed our stay! The unit had everything needed for us to be comfortable. Great location and fun tiki bar on site. This was our first visit to Marathon and would definitely come back and stay here again.
Having the pool, tiki bar, and restaurant available was a plus. Nice location, close to Sombrero Beach, 7 mile bridge, grocery stores and multiple restaurants. Air conditioning unit was a little loud, cozy unit for two people, had a futon, advertised to sleep 4, but that would be crowded, unless you’re a family with younger kids, no kitchen table or dishwasher

The owner has thoughtfully updated the unit with brand new pots & pans, updated cooking utensils, a new bistro patio set, fresh kitchen rug and many other touches to enhance your stay!
The property was comfortable and stocked with all the necessities. It is about a 1.25 hour drive to Key West. There were many stores and restaurants nearby, including a full grocery store. We did not take advantage of the pool next door, but it was nice to know it was available. Nearby Sombrero Beach was very nice. We would recommend this property for a Keys vacation.
clean one bedroom place. Nice welcome basket with the essentials. Perfect for one guy who was gone fishing all day. I did not try any of the resort amenities
Skipjacks is a good resort that has been upgrading each year. This unit is as described. The furnishings and appliances are all good. The bed is comfortable. Overall, it is a good property. Where it misses an excellent rating is in the details. For example, no screen on the sliding door and a broken screen on the window. Subpar kitchenware, worn and stained rugs, and plastic, faded chairs in the balcony.

We traveled to the Keys for spring break. Myself, husband and 18 year old kid. The apartment was clean. Bed was a tad firm for me but my husband slept great. Kitchen had all the items you'd need to cook on site. Bathroom was clean. Hosts were very easy to reach.
Resort amenities were great. Pool and bar area are really nice for hanging out. Food at the resort restaurant was also really good.
Vacation Rentals of the Florida Keys is a fantastic company to rent from. They promptly addressed and resolved all the issues that arose during our stay. It was easy to get in touch with them at any hour, day or night. When I encountered problems with my credit card, they worked with me seamlessly. The rental was a bit more outdated than I had anticipated, but it was clean. The resort where the rental is located has a wonderful little bar by the pool, and we were fortunate to meet incredibly friendly people there. All in all we had a great time on our little runaway. Thank you very much VROTFK!!
While the place we stayed was very clean and well stocked, the pictures did not show the correct property. Pictures made us think we were actually staying at Skipjacks resort, but instead stayed at the less appealing, initially stetchy looking building next door. The room we stayed in was privately owned and nice inside, but the outside was a little deceiving. The hosts were easy to contact and talk to. There are conveniently located stores around so you really don’t have to travel far for everyday needs/wants. Plus the local food was delicious everywhere we went

We are sorry about the confusion, all of the photos shown in the listing are of the outside of the unit, inside of the unit, or of amenities included with the unit. There aren't any photos that meant to be deceptive, most of the units in the building you stayed in are Skipjack units not a separate private building. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to host you again in the future!

Just took us a bit to figure out lockbox...age??? Should let people know that it is a remodeled resort room. Use of pool and bar/restaurant at resort very nice. Close to Sombero Beach and close to Walgreens and Publix. No ocean view. Not able to sit on deck in afternoon...sunny and hot, no shade.
The prop mgmt team does a great job. Loved the extensive welcome basket. Quick to respond when needed a light bulb. Beach chairs were a great surprise and much needed. Extremely convenient to the beach which has facilities. Didn't dine at the restaurant or pool only because so many local places to try. Close to the amazing, and highly recommended, Turtle Rescue facility which gives tours. Others on tour came from far away to visit. We were only 5 min drive. Close this apt because full kitchen which came in super handy. Other units on the floor only had mini bar. Didn't use the community washing machines but were available. GREAT place !
The condo building is hanging the rebar replaced in the support walls. This is mandatory per Florida codes. They use Jack hammers to knock out sections of the support wall directly under the unit we rented. Needless to say the noise, dust, and vibration was unbearable and unacceptable. The place was dirty, smelled bad (human oil and BO and musty moldy smell). The couch smelled bad. The AC United are incredible noisy and loud. The place needs updating. The owner offered a discount for the time we had to spend away from the unit due to noise.which was nice, but it should not have been on the market.

Between the owner and rental agency, we tried to reach out to this guest for a reasonable solution after this ridiculous review was posted. First and foremost, this was a last minute repair of a project that was scheduled to finish in November 2024. The “CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IS COMPLETE” and all that’s left is painting. This guest reached out about 8 hours of noisy construction that we were unaware was taking place, we promptly offered a complete refund of all the time they were
working on 1 out of the 4 days of their stay. The guest even texted the owner with “You da man”. The guests never complained about anything but the noise to the owner or agency. We were unaware of the other issues raised in this review until it was posted. WE CAN’T FIX A PROBLEM IF YOU
DON’T ASK. We haven’t had anyone complain about cleanliness, look at all the other reviews, however, if needed we would have sent a cleaning crew to address any concerns. To this guest and any future guests, always reach out if anything is a problem, we will always do our best to make things right. This guest thought complaining was a better option than addressing the issues they may or may not have had. We’ll never know because we were not given the chance to address anything besides the construction noise.

The unit we rented was clean and very nicely decorated. The pool and pool bar was also nice. We ordered a huge pizza from the pool bar that was delicious!
Our first day at the property we inadvertently left our key on the table by the door and locked ourselves out. Luckily there was a contact number in case of an emergency. It was the 3rd of July and we were worried we wouldn't be able to reach anyone to let us back in. Luckily we were able to contact the property manager, Bonnie, and she was gracious to drive to our unit which allowed us to re-enter. Our deepest gratitude to her for that.
As far as a critique of the unit there was only 2 very minor things that should be attended to. The closet has no hangers and a dozen or so would be great. Also there are no comfortable pillows so I ended up putting a pillow case on one of the shams which was more comfortable than any pillow.
All in all it was a wonderful stay and we would be happy to stay here again in the future.

Sadly, Piece of Paradise was not a comfortable stay! Furnishings were dirty and in poor condition. Room smelled of mildew which was due to shower curtain, spongy bath rugs, I cleaned with bleach to be able to breathe in unit and unplugged all air fresheners to disguise odor. Bed linens and pillows are rags. Air conditioners drowned out any conversation. Toaster is from the 50’s with dishes collected from a Goodwill! Outdated! Can rent thru resort same price for updated unit Lesson learned. Pool was great only bonus!
