We enjoyed being on the water and the size of the colorful unit. Plenty of dishes, glasses, cookware and silverware. Note there are issues with the electrical outlets where some didn’t work at all and others wouldn’t hold plugs securely. Cabinet doors in kitchen loose.
The property was pretty much as advertised. Nice large shaded yard leading down to a beautiful beach. Enjoyed the sunset views. We would definitely stay here again.
This beach house was the perfect “chill” vacation location. We enjoyed being right on the water and the private beach. We also enjoyed the backyard space and the fire pit. One of the days we were there was rainy and the house was perfect for playing games and hanging out. We loved that the layout of the bedrooms gave each of us our own space. It’s right between Caseville and Port Austin so we were able to go into these small towns and check out the little shops, grab some ice cream at Blue Moon, check out Thumb Brewery and get some good eats at Beachy’s.
We have been coming to Port Austin for years. We love these cottages, but they have always been a bit dirty. We were excited about the new owners, but the dirtiness hasn't changed. They have made some nice upgrades, but they aren't very personable and the doors / locks in 2 of the units are a huge issue.
Customer service used to be a thing (pre-pandemic), and it used to matter. I just feel like it's completely lost anymore in the way people communicate. I got locked out of the unit (they don't have keys for all their locks). They gave no instruction of this whatsoever, and seemed very irritated with me and my family as I communicated with them.
We will be checking out some other places next year.

Family vacation
House was plenty big enough for 11 of us. Loved the game room. Beach was beautiful and yard. A lot of very close neighbors so no privacy outside. Really enjoyed our time rho and neighbors were great so it worked out well.
The house was perfect for a getaway with friends. Plenty of room in house, a large beach with lots of beach chairs, and a beautiful view of Lake Huron. Would love to come back with the family! Also, the property owner was friendly and helpful.
We had an amazing time at the bungalow! The house was decorated so cute. I stayed here about ; years ago with my family and the transformation was amazing! The grounds of the property were well kept and the beach was beautiful.
The lake was beautiful. The cottage was clean and comfortable. Our group preferred a closer city or town but it was great to decompress enjoy the beach and each other.
The shared common area outside was not ideal but we made it work.
Celebrated my 30th birthday at this amazing cottage on the water! My family has had cottages in Caseville/Port Austin since the 60’s, and this place made us feel at home. The location is amazing, right on the water. It has all of the amenities you could need, and if not, the stores aren’t far at all! Highly recommended for family and friends.
We really enjoyed our stay. The water and sunsets were wonderful. Great time to spend with friends and family. Although the road construction and traffic back up was awful that was outside of the control of the cottage rentals. More communication needs to be made about communal properties outside because some other guests occupied a lot of the things that we couldn’t access. We really enjoyed our time very much though and look forward to coming back again sometime. Thank you for everything
Clean and spacious! Great for a family. The only thing that came as a surprise is that the outdoor “stuff” (picnic table, fire pits, etc) is communal so it’s either share, or first come first serve. There were plenty of beach chairs. Grill is charcoal. Wifi was spotty but it was a busy time to be there. Would stay there again.

Great outdoor/beach but not clean
I traveled with my family and another family. We had six kids under 5 between the two families. Overall, we had a positive stay, mostly attributed to the exterior of the property. It is not clear from the listing but this is a group of cottages that all kind of share a backyard / beach hosted by the same individual(s) which could be a problem for some but we enjoyed our neighbors so it was a plus. The location, beach, and outdoor areas were great. Beach was clean and shallow for the kids. The backyard had some nice picnic tables and fire pits for meals and hanging out.
The house itself was not clean. The dishes / utensils were dirty. We ran everything we wanted to use through a dishwasher when we got there. Surfaces were sticky so we wiped them down. Several outlets did not work and the Keurig machine did not work. The TV channel could not be changed from Nickelodeon. There were minimal amenities in terms of dish soap, toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towel etc.
The communication from the host was terrible. A week or so before our I had reached out to the host with a few questions and received no response. Then a few days before our trip I still had not received any check in information so I messaged the host with again no response. I then called and texted the host at the number provided and they had a voicemail box that was not yet set up. When we still hadn’t received information or responses two days before our trip I called Vrbo and they tried contacting the Host at another number where the voicemail box was full. So neither myself nor VRBO could reach the host or leave a message and I was sure we would have to cancel our trip. Finally the day before our trip, the host messaged me. This poor communication continued through our stay. Our first night there the water stopped working. Us and several of the other units staying at the neighboring cottages tried unsuccessfully to reach the host. One of the neighbors finally reached the host very late that night and they did send a plumber out promptly to fix the well pump. We had running water by mid morning the following day and the host did refund one night of our stay due to the issue. I would definitely visit this area again but would not stay at these cottages due to the lack of cleanliness and poor communication from the host.
