*We have small children ourselves, so have tried to make our place family-friendly. There is a pack-n-play, high chair, a basket of kids toys, puzzles and books and a few pre-teen chapter books for your convenience.
This area is generally very peaceful and quiet. However, as it is an aviation-centered community, there is the potential for airplane noise—planes coming and going sometimes as late as 10 pm. Please let me know if for some reason you need quiet earlier than this on any certain night and I will try to let my husband know to not go flying on that night
Unsanctioned parties will result in an additional $500 penalty fee. If the apartment is left extremely dirty and needs deep cleaning, there will be an additional $200 charged.
Late check out- we have a 10 minute grace period, after 10 minutes we charge $50 per half an hour until check out or double the nightly rate after one hour. Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?
*We ask a $50/dog/visit pet fee for service animals. Guest remains liable for any and all damage caused by people or dog. Fantastic stay with lots of space and fully stocked kitchen. Location was ideal for exploring Fairbanks and surrounding areas. One of our favorite vacation rentals ever!
We had a great stay at Ruth's place! Very unique experience especially during the winter. For flying enthusiasts, I can't imaging the summer experience with planes coming and going. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Host had really good communication. Place was clean and warm. Nice beds. Furnished well. Lots of parking and a place to plug in for the extra cold times. Also off the road, so mostly quiet, with the occasional airplane noise...so perfect.
The hangar home was a cozy spot to stay during some cold nights. The kids appreciated the toys and adults enjoyed relaxing together and doing puzzles. Everything was clean and as the pictures showed.
We enjoyed our stay at the airplane hangar home. My little boy enjoyed seeing the planes. Property was very clean and stocked well with condiments, cooking supplies, etc.
I was visiting my mother and sister and needed a place to stay for the week. I found Bushplane Hangar a nice fit. They have everything you need: I was able to make my mom some of her favorite meals in a well accessorized kitchen. My 13 year old son also enjoyed the planes.
Great hangar home in a quiet section of the airport on a side taxi way. The view from the back porch is to trees and hillsides. The house is very nicely furnished with nice details.
This property is exactly as it is described and more! Anything you need is provided and any questions answered promptly. We found it to be the perfect base of operations for our visit to Fairbanks. It is easy to get everywhere and road conditions were good even when it snowed. Can’t say enough good things. It’s cozy, warm and perfect!
Our family of 4 loved the hangar and the location was great for getting around Fairbanks. It was a quiet location also! It was so nice to come to a place that was stocked with a few kitchen food items, especially after our flight landed in the middle of the night. Ruth adds some extra special touches to her rental! She was extra kind and accommodating to us! I definitely recommend this rental!
Made a last minute reservation for my family visiting from the interior. The place was very clean and had all the amenities. The owners provided clear instructions for access and followed up to make sure we were able to find what we needed. I will always check there first for future rental availability.
My family and I stayed summer of 2022. The house is very clean and unique with the airplane hanger down stairs. Don’t let the location bother you cuz once you’re inside it feel like home. You can cook which is my favorite. I have a big family that loves to eat and cooking can save us money and eating healthy at the same time.
Will definitely stay here again if available in our next fairbanks adventure.

I am so glad you had a nice stay at our home. Yes, the location is surrounded by a bush-plane community, making this a unique and fun place to stay. The kitchen is fully stocked, along with spices and all the tools/ gadgets needed to make it home away from home. We look forward to hosting you again in the near future. I hope on your next visit we can achieve a 5 star review. I always strive for perfection,
~Ruth
We were able to see the lights from the balcony every single night we were there! I wanted something that didn’t have too much light pollution but also wasn’t too far from downtown. I did wish it had a second bathroom but I booked it knowing there was only going to be one, so I can’t really knock them for that. Just something to consider
The property is as pictured and we enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Snow for the season started the day we arrived and continued through our weeks stay, making it a winter wonderland for Texans escaping the triple didgets. Loved looking out the window to the airplane in the yard that was surrounded by snow. Nice walk to where float planes take off and land. Like the single coffee capsules since I don't drink a lot of coffee. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Bedding was super cozy. Some issues with the circuit breaker tripping while using the washing machine. Finally figured out that u plugging the dehumidifier did the trick. A little odd to have such bright lights coming front the hangar with no shades on our side when we were accessing the laundry room.

So glad you had a nice stay! Glad you figured out that the breaker was overloaded. If you stay with us again and would like the lights off around the hangar at night -please reach out and I would be happy to turn them off for you.
Originally I booked this place for 2 nights until I realized I made a mistake and was suppose to be for 3 nights. I reached out to Ruth and made that change for me without a hassle! This home was amazing! Everything was so easy here! Checking in and checking out were a piece of cake! It has everything in the kitchen and it’s just so beautiful and cozy! This place is located in a nice quiet neighborhood and the views for the windows and porch are beautiful!

I have lived in Fairbanks for past 17 years, and I love everything Alaska has to offer. I enjoy all of the outdoors, nature, hiking, skiing, horses and traveling. I am very blessed to be a stay at home Mother of four. I live at another location in Fairbanks and you will most likely not see me.
Why they chose this property
This Unique home is a little different from the norm and is right in the middle of bushplane central. Guides and local pilots taking off and landing in sight makes this home just a little different. We store our own personal airplanes in the hangar and you will see them parked on the grass or out the upstairs window of the laundry room inside our hangar. You will occasionally see my husband pulling his SuperCub out of the hangar for some relaxation or a airplane mechanic working on a plane.
What makes this property unique
The hangar/home is located on the west side of Fairbanks in the Chena Marina subdivision. It is 5 min from grocery stores, the University of Alaska Museum and other local attractions like the Riverboat Discovery and the Georgeson Botanical Gardens. 10 min from the airport, downtown and the World Ice Art Championships, and walking distance from the Chena River. UAF (5 mins drive) boasts a sledding hill popular with the locals, an indoor public pool and indoor ice/hockey arena. It also has a x-country ski trail system, which makes for very nice hiking/walking in the summer (our favorites are the ones to/from Smith Lake).
Chena Hot Springs is 1.5 hours away and Denali National Park is about 2 hours away.
There is a paved bike path 1/2 mile from the hangar that goes into town— viewpoints of the Chena and Tanana Rivers, and right past the Pumphouse Restaurant (a national historic site). It is also an interesting walk or bike ride on the gravel roads around the neighborhood. With the many aircraft, a dog musher, and of course the occasional moose, you’re bound to have a memorable experience.
In summer, you can even fish for northern pike in the lake (don’t forget to buy a fishing license first). The area is a rustic, eclectic mix of industrial and residential—gold miners, pilots, hunting outfitters, helicopter charters and adventurers, you are surrounded by the “real” Alaska.
In winter there are views of the northern lights right from your deck or bedroom window, and if you’re lucky you’ll get to see a nearby dog musher exercise his dogteam across the frozen lake or through the neighborhood. Hide
