Cancellations made 30 days prior to arrival will receive 100% of refund of all monies minus $ 39 Processing Fee and Any Credit Card Convenience Fees Paid.  If less, then 30 days: the advanced rent is only refundable subject to the following: The property is re-rented for the same period. Re-rental of less than a full week will be refunded on a pro-rated basis. The Agent will retain a $39.00 processing charge, and any convenience fees charged. *Deposits are not refunded for ANY reason (including bad weather).

Nice location

Overall the house was very comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. The location was great for walking to stores, restaurants, and ice cream! We travel quite a distance and wish this house offered more amenities.The listing was very clear/accurate about what amenities it had and did not have. Great house for the price!

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We needed a last-minute get-away and were happy to find that Rhinos Retreat was available for rent. We loved being within walking distance of Amarin for coffee and croissants the Island Creamery for their fabulous ice cream! We loved having our meals on the back porch, but we found the house to be musty and in need of some cleaning.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wonderful place to stay. Close to the beach and a dollar store for anything you need. Plenty of room for everyone, even some extra beds. It said there would be no linens but there were some of the majority of the beds. The outdoor shower smelled so bad so we didn’t use it at all. There were ants in the kitchen and the tv was way older than expected so that was surprising for the people that staid home more often. Otherwise awesome place to stay the stained glass in the living room was so pretty.

Reviewer Comments: our group of 4 was very satisfied with rhinos retreat as it offered plenty of space for a small house. the layout was comfortable and didn't feel small. While the house had everything we needed, the house could have used some "freshening up". how about a new shower curtain liner? fresh paint? we loved the location. it was close enough to bike to the beach daily and to walk to restaurants and shops. it's nice that there are still (for now) some small affordable houses that you can rent in chincoteague. thank you!

House serves its purpose

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Over-all the house served its purpose. A queen bed downstairs, 2 twin beds downstairs and a whole large loft with extra beds upstairs and 2 bathrooms. Upon arrival we noticed the yard/lawn care was over due for a trim. Further into our stay we realized there was NO DVD player. The the bathroom off the kitchen is extremely small, even the shower and the hot/cold water is reversed. The washer and dryer are extremely small as well. There was mold on the bottom of the shower curtain in the other bathroom. The sink in the kitchen was leaking on the second night and after looking into it, we realized it was loosed by the trap and never retightend. I took the liberty of washing the dirty bathroom rugs that were left for us and sweeping under the couches. I noticed the couches and ottomans needed a good scrubbing upon arrival as well. There was no dustpan, so I used the vaccume which I thought had a weak suction but figured out the tank was just full. The steps are not kid friendly, or even adult friendly. They are very short and steep. There is a a shower/plumming access pannel in the downstairs bedroom right next to a bed that was just taped on and kept falling off. Over all if your a group of adults who need a vacation house then this is the house for you. However I will not be returning with my small/younger children.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Size wise it was good but it wasn’t very clean. Underneath the couches and in the corners we found lots of sand and dust. The dishwasher didn’t work properly so washing dishes by hand wasn’t great. The small bathroom shower didn’t get hot. The beds had crinkly mattress protectors on them and were very uncomfortable. The screened porch was ripped so mosquitoes got in. No hose to rinse things before leaving. Soft spots in the yard . Washer was super tiny. Toaster had to be pushed down three times before it would work. On a busy corner as well.

Reviewer Comments: The description of rhinos retreat was that it was newly renovated. it was very old and run down but the kitchen. the house was dirty, even a bathrug was dirty. the porch was not even swept. you did come get the tv working. the ac worked great. no outside hose.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This house has a nice living room. But the floors are soft in multiple areas and the beds are very uncomfortable to say the least. We had to plunge the toilets several times a day. We let them know when we checked out but all that was said was that no one else has complained.". I will take partial responsibility as there were no pics of the bathrooms and I trusted that it would be ok. One bathroom is so small, you could hardly sit down on toilet and the other had a questionable shower system.

It's just close enough to things to walk to but far enough off the main road to enjoy some peace and quiet. I would have no problem using this place again if we come back. The loft was good for the kids to give them a place away from the parents to relax.

Good location, but needs upgrades

Two bedrooms downstairs, a Master with a queen bed and a room with 2 twins (not a full bed as advertised). Four twins in the attic for kids. At the end of the week I really missed my nice mattress. Bathroom next to Master needs refurbishment and it was too small for me to use comfortably. Other bathroom was larger and is acceptable, it has a stacked washer/dryer. Galley kitchen is ok, it does have a dishwasher. Original porch was enclosed to create the dining room and the larger bathroom. Screened-in back porch added with entrance to kitchen, and this now is the primary entrance to the cottage. It was a convenient place for wet beach stuff. If you aren't picky about your lodgings, and need space for kids, it will do. The price reflects the age of the place and basic interior design, but some investment in the house is needed (particularly the small bathroom).

Good location, a bit rundown

We enjoyed our weekend in Chincoteague. The house is spacious for how small it is. It has two bedrooms and a whole loft upstairs, so plenty of room for our small family. The location is close to Main Street and shops and restaurants. The house could be updated and cleaned a little bit better. It is a little run down and was kind of dirty when we arrived. It is on a busy corner too, so lots of cars going by made it a little worrisome with having my toddler outside, but fine with older children. The neighbors are quiet and friendly. When we arrived I attempted to contact the property owners or managers about getting in the house and parking questions and was unable to, which I found frustrating. The office was closed all weekend, which is seems they often are and they do not respond to emails or calls. Could be a problem if you needed something or had a problem. Maybe I missed something, but I could not contact anyone. Nice house and nothing wrong with it aside from being a bit run down, but maybe it’s the property management that is the issue.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After not having vacationed on the island in almost 20 years, we decided to come back! Just the two of us this time, kids are all grown. It was a lovely get-away week of leisurely coffee morrnings and cocktail afternoons on the screened porch and days filled with beach, biking, kayaking, bird watching and dining out. The cottage was just perfect for us! Though we didn't need all the rooms, it was nice to be able to spread out. Very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. Great location-short walk to the main streets. Unique and lovely decor.
