Experience quiet serenity at Hemlock Lodge on the shore of Spider Lake! 25 minutes out of Hayward, this property offers the best of all worlds. If you want the feel of a true Northwoods getaway, you can get it here! Bring your snow shoes or your Cross Country Skis to enjoy the world class American Birkebiener trails or your bike to enjoy the CAMBA trails!

Wake up to lake views from each of the bedrooms. Relax in front of 3 Fireplaces, big screen tv's or in multiple sitting areas. Take in stunning lake views with the home sitting just 100 feet off the lake, sit back around the fire on Adirondack chairs or grill on the deck. This home has plenty of space and maintains a cozy Northwoods feel as well!

Spider Lake is well known for it's wildlife (especially an eagle's nest on one of the islands as well as loons) and for it's amazing Musky fishing! Rental guests especially enjoy swimming in other areas of the lake from a boat, (ask about our pontoon rental options!) especially since the natural lakefront does not lend itself to swimming right there at the dock.

*In the summer, June-August, minimum stays are 7 nights and turnover days are SATURDAYS; click on the BOLD Saturday dates to see availability.*

Big Spider Vacation

We had a wonderful vacation. The location is great with beautiful views for all windows. It worked well for our family. Loved the small family of deer that visited several times a day! Our grandson loved that!

Beautiful Lake Setting, Lots of Room

This place is beautiful scenery, and the cabin is very roomy and well accommodated. The A/C was strong. Good place to stay. To be better (5 star), fishing and swimming at the dock would be necessary - it's not possible now due to shallow water and sediment/vegetation.

We’re so glad to hear your group enjoyed your stay this summer at Hemlock Lodge, as it is well-appointed, and very comfortable! We do our best to strive for a 5 star stay for all our guests. To clarify, the fishing can be great off our dock, and it is actually plenty deep (10+ feet.) Guests have reported catching very large fish there, which is one of the highlights of Spider Lake. It is true, too, and stated in our listing, that our water front is not swimmable, as it is a natural bog there. We highly recommend guests rent a boat in the summer months, to enjoy the lake access for all the fishing and swimming as well as views Spider Lake has to offer, as well as to use the Maui Mat provided.

A perfect Cabin with all the perks

Amazing spaces to enjoy all different environments and moods. Beds were fantastic. Nicely appointed kitchen. Had great options for paddle boarding, kayaking and canoeing. Only suggestion for property owners is there is a furnace noise that is prominent in the beautiful lower sleeping area that is quite disruptive while sleeping. Hoping that could be resolved. Just a wonderful Cabin and location. .

As advertised it was peaceful on Spider Lake. But, they failed to mention that it was on a bog. No swimming near pier (had to take our boat out almost 200 yards and swim off the boat. No fishing from the pier for the same reason. We couldn't even sit on the pier during the week because of the abundance of mosquitoes and horseflies. Everyone in our family felt that it was deceptively advertised. Not worth what it cost.

Family vacation

The house was perfect for our family. The kitchen was well-stocked, great to have 2 laundry rooms and 4 bathrooms, the kids loved having their own space, and the adults appreciated having some private areas. Lots of outdoor space, too. Our host was attentive and helpful, too! Location was good--not too far from Hayward and golfing. Had to drive to other parking to ride our UTVs--would have liked to have been able to start driving where we stayed, but the County had rules that needed to be be followed. The lake was perfect for the kids to kayak, paddle board, and swim off the provided lily pad. Since we had a 4 year old with us, I'm glad we were not able to swim off the shore---it would have made it even harder to keep an eye on her! It wasn't an issue not being able to have a wake outside of 11:00 am to 3:00 pm for us--we loved the peace and quiet without the constant whine of boats and jet skis! We were also able to take day trips to Duluth and the Apostle Islands. WiFi was reliable on the property, too. Great place where we made lots of wonderful memories!
