About the host
Hosted by Keith Tucker, Suzanne Tucker
Keith Tucker, a retired storyboard artist and director, and his wife, Suzanne, a retired magazine publisher, relocated from Maui to Milwaukie in 2007 to preserve this unique property and keep it in the family when it became too much for Suzanne's parents to manage. Although retired, Keith and Suzanne, keep very busy with Keith's frequent guest appearances at Comic Cons across the country while juggling Suzanne's passion for gardening, guitar, and decorating the house and cottage with her growing collection of colored glass. Grandparents of seven, they strive to create a very relaxing and comfortable environment for their guests and are especially pleased to have so many other grandparents return year after year while visiting their children and grandchildren who live in our area! When we are traveling our adult daughter, Jennica, will be available to handle any needs our guests might have.
Why they chose this property
Keith and Suzanne chose this neighborhood because they loved the house, the history, and the location. They are located in a triangle of land at the crossroads of rural and urban Portland adjacent to the Milwaukie bypass 224. Shopping centers and the historic town of Milwaukie are minutes away. The city of Portland is a short 7-mile drive and accessible by bus or light rail. The 1930's farmhouse, cottage and garden are the last remnants of a time gone by and what was once a small family farm on the outskirts of Milwaukie, a small historical town. The property was subdivided in 1960 leaving the farmhouse and about half an acre of land. The Caretaker's Cottage, where you will be staying, was moved to this half acre and set down at the far end of a brand new 3 car garage. A new roof was put over all the buildings joining them, well, under one roof!
Although attached, the cottage is completely separate from the house and private with its own parking space, fenced yard, garden, fountain/pond, BBQ, and solar lit outdoor umbrella and picnic table.
What makes this property unique
Keith and Suzanne enjoy highlighting the historical aspects of their property! When you walk through the private gate leading to the cottage, you might feel you have stepped through a portal into another time. Everything about the cottage is secluded, peaceful and private. The cottage is decorated with treasures from a bygone era with all the comforts and amenities our current time demands. They've got your high speed Wifi Covered!
Keith has fenced the yard and built a lovely pond and waterfall mitigating some of the traffic sound. That said, the cottage is very centrally located and easy to access because of its location. Depending on traffic the cottage is about 20 minutes from Portland, PDX, Oregon City, and Beaverton.
The cottage itself has one bedroom, a fully stocked kitchen, living room with large TV, loveseat recliner, and counter work area as well as a laundry room with washer/dryer and ironing board. Guests will be contacted prior to their arrival for suggested breakfast items to make their stay as comfortable as possible! During the winter season, the cottage has been a favorite for traveling medical professionals and Holiday family visits. We can be booked for consecutive 28 day stays. So, whether you are traveling for work, family, or just want to discover all that the Portland area has to offer, we invite you to check into Crossroads Country Cottage! You will be glad you did!
