About this property
Cute & Cozy! Julian Mt. cabin. Hiking, wineries, brewery. All season getaway.
YOUR STAY: This lovely family cabin is a perfect getaway for those who love nature. It is a beautiful spot, surrounded by trees. Only one mile from town, even less to a wonderful brewery and several great wineries. Enjoy your coffee or glass of delicious local wine from several seating areas. Both have the sound of water for your pleasure. There is a table and chairs and a waterfall pond. There are lights strung in the tree, making this a great place to BBQ on the gas grille, or just to enjoy the evening. There is a café table and the sound of a fountain with views of Vulcan Mountain. We often see birds, wild turkeys and deer on the property.
THE CABIN: Two bedroom, one bath with 1,200 square feet. Inside is a large living room with plenty of seating to enjoy a nice fire, watch Netflix, Prime or play some of the many board games on hand. The hand made coffee table has a built in checkers board. There is a dinning table for six and in the kitchen a table for four. The kitchen is fully stocked. There is a Keurig on the counter and a regular coffee maker in the cupboard. There is a four piece toaster and a small crock pot, as well as the normal pots and pans. We have a limited supply of coffee and tea for your enjoyment. The front bedroom has a King bed with comfy bedding and pillows. There are reading lights, phone charger and a ceiling fan for your convenience. The back bedroom includes a Queen and Double bed with the same comfy bedding. The bathroom has a combo tub/shower, basic toiletries included, and plush towels. The hall closet contains a variety of board and card games. Coloring books and crayons for the kids. There are even books if anyone wants to enjoy reading around the fire or outside under a tree.
WHAT TO DO: There are many wonderful restaurants, wineries, breweries and cideries around Julian. In the Info Book provided in the cabin, you will find lots of info and recommendations about them. There are some really cute coffee shops as well, and please don’t forget the famous apple pie as you are wandering around town enjoying the quaint stores filled with small town treasures. The hiking is amazing around Julian. Nearby, there are the Vulcan Mountain trailhead and Santa Ysabel East Preserve trailhead. A bit further are the hikes near Cuyamaca, including Stonewall Peak, and Laguna including Desert View Trail, and Big Laguna Trailhead. Julian is also a stop for some of the PCT hikers. Gold mining and gold mining tours are available. Julian is famous for their apples. Apple Days usually start in early fall where you can pick your own or buy from bins of all varieties. In early spring there are hills covered with daffodils and a bit later the lilacs fill the air with their beautiful fragrance. Julian is also certified as a Dark Skies Community and you will see plenty of stars in the night sky.
THE HISTORY: Our family has owned this cabin since 1939. Our Grandpa built it with lots of help from friends and family. It has been added on, redone and refurbished many times. It is filled with some of our family treasures for you to enjoy. We lovingly call it “Granny’s Cabin”, but you will find that it is filled with all the modern necessities.

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Downs

My name is Tammy and my husband is Jim. While we are new to the "owner" part of VRBO, we love travelling and love exploring from family rentals. I spent years working in retail while raising three kids. As my children got older and flew the nest I sought out a career as a Post Partum Doula. That turned into a Nanny gig and I absolutely love it. There is nothing I love more than gathering with family. Our extended family is quite large and we all have amazing memories at the cabin. Our family cabin was first build in 1939 by my Grandfather and other family members. We have always loved and cherished our time at what we always called "Gramps and Granny's Cabin" . My husband and I, along with many family and friends have been slowly re-building and re-modeling it over the years. The Cabin is now ready to be enjoyed by others.
Why they chose this property
There are so many things to love about Julian. The beautiful hikes, the surrounding mountains, all the flora and fauna. We love going on one of the many nearby hikes in the morning and then ending at one of the wineries or breweries. Our favorite spot being Vulcan Mountain Winery. We always meet wonderful people there and the wine is pretty delicious as well. Often times we BBQ at the cabin and sit under the trees with the twinkling lights.
What makes this property unique
A family cabin with lots of cozy spaces to enjoy the outdoors and inside.
