About this property
Historic Stockbridge Villa on 25 acres sleeps 23
At the end of a tree-lined driveway, this huge private eleven bedroom villa sits by the edge of a field with garden and blackberry patch surrounded by 25 acres of woods. Walking paths reveal rocky knolls and paths circling through pine and maple trees. The private estate has ample space for a retreat, a workshop, a grand party or just family togetherness in a beautiful place, far from the madding crowd but close to highways, shopping, spas and everything you might need.
Villa Favorita is ideal for a large extended family, with 6 bedrooms that can comfortably sleep couples with multiple children, and 5 bedrooms comfortable for couples or individuals.
Five large rooms on the first floor are homey and rich in historic detail. The dining room with large French doors is joined to the modern kitchen through the butler’s pantry. The utility room has a new washer and dryer and a half bath. The living room with built-in bookshelves opens into a spacious front hall with a grand piano and a harpsichord. The first floor also has a comfortable wheelchair-accessible bedroom with handicap shower.
The second floor has five enormous bedrooms overlooking fields and forests; three of these are master bedrooms with en suite baths, and the dimensions of all but one are over 220 square feet.
The third floor, originally servants' quarters, has one shared bath and five more bedrooms, two approaching the size of the master bedrooms, and one that can double as a quiet study with desk and flat-panel monitor.

Great home, warm and welcoming!! Hosts were great! Very attentive, enjoyed meeting Lisa. Plenty of room for our gathering, accommodations were excellent!
The house is extremely well supplied. We are a cooking family, and the kitchen had everything. Beyond the kitchen there were toy boxes, toy musical instruments, games for adults and kids - everything you could want. It feels like a real home, not a ski lodge.
This was a perfect stay for our group. The house and area were lovely and our hosts were courteous. Loved and and will be looking to book again for future events.
This home is comfortable, extremely well-equipped and in a beautiful location. It's handy to both Stockbridge and Lenox. Communication with the host was excellent. Wish we could have stayed longer!
We fell in love with Villa Favorite the second we drove onto the property, and that was just the beginning. Everything was perfect for our big, eclectic group -- the bedrooms, the many bathrooms, the kitchen, the eating spaces, the little pool, the swings, the tether ball, the porches.... The hosts were wonderful as well. We will be back for sure!
16 of us had an incredible long weekend at Villa Favorita. Dan and his family were responsive, generous and friendly hosts, and we felt at home the moment we stepped inside. The house itself is a marvel of history and ambiance, and the grounds are picturesque and extensive. We never felt compelled to even leave the premises, everything we came to New England for was right there at our fingertips.

Having such a great group appreciating our place makes us doing this really worth it.
This experience was the best we could have asked for to have our family all together to celebrate my mom's 60th birthday! Dan, Lisa and Ben were all extremely kind, considerate and helpful. The house was absolutely gorgeous with so much space for all of us and our activities! I certainly hope we have another opportunity to stay at this beautiful Villa!
We were 19 people - five families having a reunion. The property was really perfect for such a large group. Plenty of well furnished bedrooms. Multiple large tables for communal meals. We cooked all our meals at the house and the kitchen was well stocked. The house is in a beautiful secluded location.
My friends and I were looking for big, cozy, family friendly home to catch up and Villa Favorita delivered! The house was exactly as advertised, clean and cozy, with a fully supplied kitchen that allowed us to make some great family dinners. The hosts are wonderful, very friendly people who communicate well and made getting in and out of the house very easy. 10/10 would go back again!
We stayed in Villa Favorita for a large 40th birthday celebration. We comfortably fit 15 adults for a multi-night stay as well as hosting the chef and team we brought in for a catered dinner. The house is well equipped for large celebrations with plenty of sleeping space and plenty of communal space and seating. Ben and Lisa on site were helpful with any needs we had while we were there and Dan was extremely communicative and helpful via chat during the planning stages. If you and your friends or family are looking for a cozy Berkshires retreat this is a great option.
This is a home that loves to be filled with family. There is ample space for hanging out, recreation, and conversation. The kitchen is welcoming and well stocked for cooking for many or just a few. There are spacious bedrooms and many with their own or a shared bathroom which makes accomodations comfortable. There are also sleeping spaces on the ground floor for those who may have difficulty with stairs. With a well stocked library, a small pool, a most excellent ping pong table and many musical instruments, it is a home where any groups can enjoy time together, and still have beautiful spaces for solitude and quiet contemplation. The grounds are lovely and worthy of exploration. Not modern, the house has the gracious air of a home that was built well, and meant to give space to create happy memories for ages. Grateful for our stay and to the hosts for sharing this home with us and others.
Villa Favorita (named by the wife of an earlier owner) is an elegant, 11-BR turn-of-the-20th-century Victorian mansion on 25 wooded acres. It was perfect for our remembrance family reunion, with 16 of us staying in the house. The capstone of the reunion was an outdoor lunch for 33 of us. The house has plenty of character and a bit of funk. All appliances worked well, kitchen is updated and extremely well equipped, there is a spare refrigerator/freezer in the basement, which proved most helpful. We rented tables, chairs, dishes, and created an outdoor setting that wowed and pleased everyone. Excellent photo backdrops abound. And there were no flying insects at all!All involved were wonderful, efficient, accommodating - the two owner-brothers (one living in another house on the property and managing the site), and the caretaker - from whom we bought fresh laid eggs. There were toys galore for the younger set, and a music room with a well-tuned piano and guitars. Our only regret: we did not have time to enjoy the above ground pool and hike the paths through the property. And oh, very convenient to Stockbridge, Lee, and Great Barrington for all our grocery, baked needs - with excellent quality. We could not imagine finding a better - and well priced - location for a family reunion.
Between children and adults we were close to 30 for our annual Thanksgiving reunion. We are a group that enjoys cooking and catching up while doing meal prep. We usually bring a lot of our own kitchen equipment, plates and silverware. This year we could have left most of it home. This kitchen was the best equipped and supplied of any we have ever rented on VRBO by far. But it was more than just the kitchen that was well supplied. It was the whole house! Ben, the host’s brother, grew up in the house and lives next door. Ben answered any questions and shared family lore. The Northrup family still gets together in the house for Christmas holidays. From the artwork on the walls (painted by the Northrup family matriarch) to the many objects on the shelves and in the drawers, one has the warm feeling of sharing the residence of an old family friend. While the website photos are accurate, we were surprised at how large the rooms actually are. In fact the whole house exceeded our expectations.
The house is a great old gal! Spacious and lovely. Our family is quite large and we all felt like there was enough privacy and rooms where we could comfortably congregate. The hosts were super responsive and I highly recommend staying here!
We gathered four generations under one roof and everyone was happy! This well loved and cared for property enchanted all of us. We spent hours playing indoors and out. There are ample activities in the region for everyone, but we just enjoyed our time together. We hope to return in the future.
We are a close partnership of 5 siblings who spent a great part of our lives growing up in this idyllic place, and are on a mission to have it remain a central gathering place for ourselves as well as others. We and our partners, children and now grandchildren are up to about 28 last count, and none of us can bear the thought of not continuing to reunite here on Memorial Day, Christmas and the occasional wedding. https://youtu.be/1CIvfWclEKc
Why they chose this property
This is a real home, just on a big scale! It is *not* a good-housekeeping model home with everything new or museum-perfect, but rather an interesting mix of formal and casual, with much of the house's history retained.
What makes this property unique
The size and scale of the whole property is quite unique - from the grand piano and oversize bedrooms spread across 3 floors to the many acres of forest and fields with blackberries, raspberries, blueberries and lilacs, all free for the picking in season.
The property is very open, with many walking paths going down into pine woods, and a natural glade surrounded by lilacs that's perfect for outdoor gatherings and ceremonies; children love the rope swings under the maple trees off the screen porch; quiet time can be spent in the lovely little greenhouse that's been restored with natural cedar.
Villa Favorita is uniquely located within 10 minutes of Lenox (Tanglewood, Kripalu Yoga Center, Shakespeare & Co., Canyon Ranch), downtown Stockbridge (Berkshire Theater Festival, Norman Rockwell Museum, Red Lion Inn), downtown Lee (Mass Turnpike, Lee Outlets, supermarkets, salons), and within 20 minutes of Great Barrington (Mahaiwe Theater, Butternut Ski Area, international cuisine), Pittsfield (Colonial Theater, Bousquet's Ski Area), Becket (Jacob's Pillow Dance Theater), and Hancock (Shaker Village).
