We can’t wait to come back!

Bask House is an absolutely lovely get-away. Our family of three had plenty of room to lounge about and enjoy the beautiful green views during rainy days—and it was a perfect distance away from plenty to do between the rains. Easy trips to downtown Sebastopol, Bodega Bay, and Santa Rosa for yummy food, gorgeous hikes, and novel adventures (like Safari West and visiting Patrick Amiot’s art on Florence Ave). And we can’t leave a review without mentioning the fresh eggs from the chickens that call Bask home. So delicious! We’d planned to go out for breakfast during our stay but decided to stay in for eggs everyday! Jess is a warm and welcoming host. We look forward to coming back when the weather forecast has more sun!

Absolutely AMAZING!!!

If you’re looking for real hospitality in its true meaning, the Bask House is where you can find it, without doubt. Having had many experiences, I have to say that this was one of the best places we’ve stayed at. The house was beautifully decorated and maintained, so comfortable and clean; crisp bedding and comfortable mattresses, tastefully decorated and with many thoughtful touches, that show how much the hosts care about their guests’ comfort. Everyone slept comfortably, the beds and bathroom were perfect for our needs, and we utilized the kitchen to cook the best sunny side up eggs for breakfast. Jess was an excellent host, available for any questions, and so generous with the recommendations for places to eat, and things to see, and all of them were spot on! She treated us with the most delicious homemade chocolates, fresh eggs, freshly ground coffee, and tasty peaches. It was the best mix of relaxation and privacy, yet being close to so many activities and areas to enjoy the beauty of Sonoma Valley. The hot tub was very useful too after a full day of exploring the area. So many details were poured into our staying experience that it made it absolutely hard to say goodbye. Beautiful place! Wonderful experience! Thank you Jess for sharing with us your slice of paradise!

About the host

Hosted by Jess Reynolds

Host profile image
I noticed when I started traveling throughout the world in my 20’s people would ask me what it was that I did… I would respond with, “Well, I’m an art teacher.” Ingrained in me was the concept that who I was, was what I did.

It only took a few of these responses to realize most people outside the U.S. didn’t want to know about my occupation, rather the things I did that shaped WHO I am.

So my answers morphed from what I did for a LIVING to what I did to LIVE.

Now don’t get me wrong, I loved teaching, but who I was was shaped by more than just that. I started to share things about myself that included my love of travel, art, creativity, people, nature, design, architecture, learning, discovering layered stories of others and gratitude.

Over my career I spent a decade as a fashion designer and had a twenty year career teaching art to children. I led dozens of art students all over the world in the quest to gain a bigger picture of oneself; to learn to be open, vulnerable and most importantly see the possibility in the things we ‘do.’

Full circle, I’m now on the hosting end. What I ‘do’ is more than just ‘host.’ There’s a creative force in bringing a space to life. Not merely beds and chairs, rather an opportunity to create meaningful spaces for others to connect with loved ones, design, purpose, experiences, a story I invite YOU to finish…

So, what do you do?
