Cameras recording everywhere
There are a couple of things about this place that were not mentioned in the ad that would have changed my decision to book this place at Long Island Village.
First- The listing is not for the entire house. There is an upstairs and a downstairs, accessible by different doors, and the downstairs is not part of the listing. It does list this in the description, but it also lists a second common area that was nowhere to be found. Read the description, don’t rely on the pictures.
Second- Cameras were recording the entire time we were on the patio. That was not detailed in the listing. VRBO policies allow cameras in areas covering pools and hot tubs. I guess a canal could fall into that category. Either way, they are required to be disclosed both in the listing and in an informational packet located in the home. Cameras we’re not disclosed in either.
Third- The email from the owner was on the verge of ridiculous with the rules (take the trash out when it’s full- who wouldn’t do that?) and all the CAPS LOCKS other rules. The owner is super proud of their ‘brand new very expensive’ (exact wording) house. And while I didn’t anticipate a problem because our family consistently earns 5 star reviews from Owners on VRBO, it made me uncomfortable knowing how uptight the owners were.
Fourth- Our name was supposed to be on the list at the security gate if we checked in after 4pm. It was not
There was a paddle boat that was a ton for fun.
