About this property
Kansas Escapes-Stormont Vail Event Center, I-70, Hummer sports park, World Cup
Kansas theme, windmills, wheat fields, buffaloes, honeybees, art from local artists. Farm like but modern. It is located in central Topeka. The two rooms on the third floor have their very own 42 dB air conditioner to allow you to sleep comfortably without noises coming from unit. It is a very large kitchen great for family gatherings. Just added to the room off the kitchen is a dining room table that can sit up to six. This is our first time trying vacation rentals. We have stayed in them in the past. So we know what we wanted so we put this in to this six bedroom two bath 1918 farmhouse. All brand new appliances, stainless steel and tons of counter space. We are less than 1 mile from the world famous rainforest zoo, and local restaurants featured on dive and dined, Bobo. Electronic locks, self check in. This is probably the tallest house in a five block radius. From the third floor has an awesome view out of the picture window facing east. We are one block from public transportation. And best of all it is less than 1 mile off of I 70, super fast access to the highway. All new features like fast AT&T fiber optic internet, led lighting, all new carpet. We are very excited to share our house with good folks like yourself. Every thing in this house was remodeled to my taste. So come and book with Kansas Escapes and see what world class service feels like. All bedrooms have smoke detectors. Neighborhood Walmart within walking distance. Tennis court park less then 1/2 mile.

I would like to offer you back anytime. The world would be a better place, if we only had people like Mr. Simpson to fill it with. Thank you for allowing me to host you.
Perfect for what we needed. So much better than a hotel
It was great

Thank you Jason for your 5 Star review! I really appreciate you and I try extremely hard to make to make my place very comfortable for my guests. I would love to have you back if your in the area.
We recently stayed at Kansas Escapes in Topeka, KS, hosted by Ed, during an incredibly difficult time for our family as we gathered to say our unexpected final goodbyes to my sister-in-law.The home was truly everything we could have hoped for and more. It became so much more than just a place to sleep—it was a space where our family could come together, support one another, and find moments of comfort during a very emotional time. When our plans unexpectedly changed and we needed to extend our stay, Ed responded with genuine kindness and compassion, graciously helping us make the necessary arrangements without added stress. That level of understanding meant more to us than words can express. We are deeply grateful for both the home and the care shown by our host. I would absolutely stay here again should the need arise, and I highly recommend Kansas Escapes to anyone looking for a welcoming and supportive place to stay.Thank you Ed from the bottom of our Hearts!
We enjoyed the spooky decoration Ed had set up for us. A few minor issues that were quickly resolved by the host. Overall a fantastic stay with comfortable beds and couches for the whole friend group to stay at.
Thanks for a great stay! The house has lots of dishes and towels - a great touch to make life easier. Games and coloring are also thoughtful inclusions. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We enjoyed our stay in Topeka. The house was only 2 minutes from the pool where the swim meet was located which made it super convenient! Definitely will look at this Vrbo again on our next trip to Topeka!

I’m glad you joined your stay other than the beds, we will work on this in the future. Were they too soft, too hard, in what way were they uncomfortable so we can try to correct this for a future guest. This is the first that we have heard of this we definitely want our guests to be comfortable during their stay. I hope you did enjoy all of the free amenities during your stay, and thank you so much for staying at Kansas escapes and your feedback is truly appreciated.
We were in town for a baseball tournament. A couple of families stayed at the property and it was perfect for us! Great location between the fields we played at and plenty of room at the house for comfort after the games. Thank you!!

This home is EXACTLY as listed! It’s conveniently located it’s VERY SPACIOUS and it’s just relaxing! I did have a little hiccup on checkin with the main door, but the others worked perfectly and we were able to get in. The patio was spacious and we enjoyed Our stay! My family LOVED it and we look forward to booking in the future at the KE! Definitely recommend this home to everyone

Very clean and spacious property! Convenient location. Great outdoor lighting and very easy to find.
Our group of 5 enjoyed cooking breakfast in the spacious kitchen. Many wonderful amenities throughout the home and decorated to make anyone feel welcomed.
The beds and baths were also very clean. Most of our group preferred softer beds but we were able to sleep comfortably.
The host had a great welcome package for our group. We REALLY enjoyed our stay and will return if our travels bring us back to the area.
Thank you!

Thank you so much! I am so glad you enjoyed all your amazing amenities I truly work hard to make my place so welcoming. I am in the process of getting more softer beds for the property, I do appreciate your feed back. This helps me make future guests stays more comfortable and enjoyable. Thank you again for the opportunity to host you and your group! Thank you again Kelly and safe travels! Come back anytime my friends.
5 stars!! My family and I stayed at Kansas Escapes and it was perfect for our stay. The hosts have thought of everything and we were very comfortable. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax without feeling crowded. The kitchen was fully stocked with anything you could possibly need - new appliances, plenty of dishes, etc. One bedroom has a pack and play, rocking chair and toys for the little ones, along with family games /coloring books downstairs (many still in the original wrapping). They really have thought of everything. I loved the vintage decorations around the home.
We enjoyed sitting on the front porch to have our morning coffee or after it started to cool off in the evening. The smart TV has all of the apps for streaming and we were able to log into our accounts to watch movies.
All of the bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors so keep that in mind if you have someone older traveling with you like we did. :)
Thanks, Ed! We will stay here again when we're in town next.

Thank you Kathlene for your stay at Kansas Escapes. Plenty of room for family is a great thing to hear, I was trying to accomplish this. So this is very good to hear. The kitchen is very big and plenty of cabinetry to stock up for your long stay. Toys, I put them in there to keep the kiddos busy while you cook. LOL I was pressed for time to get this new Kansas Escapes ready, this is the reason for the unwrapped toys. The smart TV is paired with blazing fast internet with 634Mbps download speed, for steaming on the smart TV or at the office, on the road. I glad you and the family enjoyed your stay. I will see you soon again!
About the host
Hosted by Edward Whitlock
Hello! I’m so glad you’re considering staying at my place. A little about me — I enjoy gardening, spending time outdoors, and traveling whenever I can.
I was born in Canadian, Texas, but my family moved to Topeka, Kansas when I was three, and I’ve called Topeka home ever since. I’ve worked in customer service for over 30 years, so I understand what guests are looking for — comfort, care, and a welcoming experience. I always strive to provide that because, at heart, I’m also a traveler and a guest myself. So I treat people how I would like to be treated.
I look forward to hosting you!
Why they chose this property
When I decided to open my Vrbo, I didn’t have to look far for the perfect spot — I chose my own neighborhood. I’ve lived here for over 30 years, and it’s truly a place that feels like home in every way.
What I love most about this neighborhood is its charm and history. It’s an older, established area with beautiful mature trees, quiet streets, and a real sense of community. We’re just one mile off I-70, so it’s easy to get anywhere you need to go, but it still feels tucked away and peaceful.
Over the years, I’ve watched this neighborhood grow and change, and I’ve built so many wonderful memories here. I’m excited to share a little piece of that with my guests — it’s a special place, and I think you’ll love it just as much as I do.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property truly special is the story behind it. When I bought this house, it was an old farmhouse that had seen better days. I decided to take on the challenge — and, well, I pretty much started from scratch.
Over time, I poured my heart, soul, and countless hours (and yes, even a few tears) into rebuilding it from its original foundation. I wanted to honor the home’s history, so I kept it as original as possible — preserving its character and charm while giving it new life.
Every part of this home has a piece of my effort and love in it. It’s more than just a place to stay — it’s a labor of love, built with care and respect for its past. That’s what makes this property unique, and I’m proud to share it with guests who can appreciate the story behind it.
