Perfect Home Away from Home

This was our second stay. we chose this location as it was pet friendly. Everything was comfortable, especially the memory foam bed. The patio area was welcoming during the warmer days of our month long stay. The hosts were accommodating and the use of the driveway was a perk. We cooked most of our evening meals, and the gas stove performed well. We hope this cottage will be available for future visits.

A month on Charlotte

We loved our stay in this little carriage house. The landlords were gracious and helpful and the location is perfect and in walking distance to just about every part of the city one would want to discover.

Home Away from Home in Heart of Charleston

The Ansonborough Carriage House is a charming, cozy and clean property in the heart of Charleston. The cottage has everything you need to stay a day or a month. Whether you desire to walk the bridge into Mt. Pleasant; shop and dine on Kings Street; view the amazing Architecture of The Battery or spend a day with the family at the parks and aquarium, this property is in the perfect location for any or all of it! It is extremely important to Victoria, David and family that your stay is as comfortable as possible. They go far and beyond to ensure your visit is a good one. I highly recommend this property and plan to stay again on my next visit to the beautiful, historic city of Charleston.

Quaint, comfortable, convenient downtown cottage

I would highly recommend staying at David and Victoria's downtown Charleston cottage - they're fantastic hosts, the location can't be beat, and the cottage is comfortable and well-equipped.

Loved this Cottage

Charming cottage in great location. Cottage was spotless and well furnished. Victoria was very nice to work with. Kitchen was very well stocked and Victoria told us to ask her for anything else we may need. We had several meals at the cottage. We also loved the private, beautifully landscaped patio. Off street parking was very nice. Only slight negative is the bathroom is very small and you have to step down to get in to it.

PERFECT!!!!!

It was just PERFECT! David and Victoria were the consumate hosts. The location is ideal, quiet and the property is just so adorable and cozy; located on the back of their property with lots of privacy and outdoor space. The kitchen is stocked with more than you would ever need as you will likely eat out more often than you expect. The restaurant scene is quite wonderful...the problem is finding which places to go! One of our favorites is Sorghum & Salt- the owner/chef is so creative. If the opportunity ever arises, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

My wife and I stayed in the Cottage for our 4 day visit to Charleston and we loved it! Thanks again!

The Cottage was great! Cozy, quiet and convenient to everything. David and Victoria were great also. My only complaint would be that the bathroom is a little small but it really didn't bother me at all. We really enjoyed everything!

A great month in Charleston

First, the carriage house is charming, but don’t expect luxury accommodations. What you do get is a very warm, comfortable and inviting space - with plenty of room to sit around and chat with guests or watch TV while relaxing after a fantastic day of exploring! A functional galley kitchen where you can prepare a meal – although, for a 30-day stay, the refrigerator is small. The kitchen table is perfectly sized for the space, and the HUGE windows above the table let in beautiful light. Oh, and if you have to do laundry, the washer/dryer unit was nicely hidden away in a large closet. The HVAC system was easy to use, and adjustable to your specific heating and cooling needs, with separate units upstairs and downstairs. The second floor requires walking up a slim stairway with two turns in it, so those who are less mobile may find it a bit of a nuisance - but it also possesses a charm of its own. The bedroom is spacious with slanted walls, a nice, big window above the bed. And the king-sized memory foam mattress was very comfortable and a joy to sleep in. And the tin roof provided a wonderful sound when the occasional rains of February came down. There's also a bureau and a rustic closest for your clothing. Now we get to the bathroom, and the only reason we didn't rate our stay as FIVE stars; it is small and requires two steps down to get into it. The sink is quite little, which makes it difficult to wash your face without also getting your feet wet. The shower has a full-size tub with excellent water pressure and temperature controls. Since we spent thirty days there, the bathroom was a pain, but for a long weekend, it may be less of an issue. However, for us, if the shower wasn’t so good, it would have been a hardship. Outside you have a nice private parking space. You then have to go through two gates; the first through the owner’s yard, and the second lets you into your own private outdoor space. There you have a table and chairs, brick patio, electric grill and a nice little water feature. This private space is a nice bonus. Of course, I have to mention the city of Charleston, we had a great, great time. Everything was within walking distance, and the neighborhood felt very safe! Lastly, the owners, Victoria and David, are a delight. We liked them both very much, and they seemed genuinely concerned that we were enjoying our stay - which we were! I would be happy to go back just to see them both again.

Charleston Cottage Oasis

My husband and I experienced our wedding anniversary in the bankshia cottage and it was pretty perfect. Beautiful clean cottage with all the southern charm that you can imagine. Owners were very friendly. Only downfall is the motion scensor light to the cottage’s path needed to be adjusted to turn on sooner before your’e out of the lights path. It would turn on after we walked down the main house’s path to the cottage, making it difficult to see where we were going. I would highly recommend staying in this location for it’s accessible to everything downtown by foot!!

Great location, Very charming & cozy cottage!

Everything about this about this small cottage is adorable, comfortable, especially the king size bed & the location was perfect. The decor was unique & charming, the water feature on patio was very soothing, the plants, trees, vines were beautiful. I really loved the front split barn door & the antique hardware! The only cons were... As property is a at prime, the cottage is position behind the owners main home, On a small property. So, I did not feel we had any privacy at all, the owners were working on & around home all day & evening, which made us feel, we were in their way. My only other concern was, the pathways to the cottage to the back of the property was very uneven, with a couple of steps, consisting of different materials, I would Not recommend Ladies wearing heals... Flats only... Also, bring a flash light when coming home at night. As they did have a motion light, it did not light up the area where the steps are or the uneven walkway. Overall, we pleased with carriage house cottage!

Location, location, location!

This cottage is in a great location for exploring Charleston and the owner is lovely and very helpful. The cottage itself is spacious, except for the bathroom, and as my husband s 6'3" and I'm not exactly short is was a bit of a problem. The highlight though is the wonderful, quiet and secluded patio complete with a lovely fountain.

Charming, private stay, perfect for two...

Charleston is our home away from home and we return often. This cottage was perfect for us. A private courtyard and peaceful setting. Our hosts were warm and accommodating. Location was excellent as well --we rode our bikes and walked everywhere we needed to be. We cannot wait to return for another stay. Thank you so very much to our hosts. We look forward to staying with you again asap! Renee & Brendan

Bankshia Cottage is a quaint little home adjacent to the owners property

Victoria and David are very gracious owners of this cute little cottage located right in the heart of Charleston SC. My husband and I stayed at the Cottage for about a month so that we can get away from the cold Midwest & experience warmth in the historic town of Charleston SC. Charleston is a diverse cultural town with lots of activity & so much history. The roots of Charleston go back as far as the 1700's. There was no limit in the things we can do. We took a Harbor Tour, Carriage Ride, ran the Art Ravenal Bridge, walked King, Calhoun & Meeting Street. We are at many restaurants & even grilled on the charming patio. The Aquarium & Fort Sumter Memorial are with in close proximity to the property. If you like parks, Water Front (where the Pineapple Fountain is located) and White Point Garden are amazing parks. Marion Square is also another park located a couple of blocks away & they have a Farmers Market from 9-1 on Saturdays. Locals come from all over to prepare unique meals, a host of art & produce. The City Market is located between East Bay & Meeting & runs pretty much every day where you can experience even more local art, jewelry & the customs of Charleston. Overall, we had an amazing time in Charleston & this Cottage suited our needs perfectly. I am sure that we will be coming back in the future.

Cozy Cottage

We rented this cottage for an anniversary get away. It's very small and cozy. Probably would not be good for more than two people. Within walking distance of downtown and all the good restaurants.
