The Space: Original in 1868, the Liberty House was the second home on East Liberty Street built for John Hernandez. Listed in Savannah’s city directories as a confectioner from St. Augustine, Florida, Mr. Hernandez is believed to have raised his family of four children in the home before selling the property in retirement. Since its construction, this authentic Savannah townhome has been meticulously cared for boasting original stone fireplaces, stair banisters, hard oak flooring, and incredible custom trim work. Enter the property one of two ways, either from the ascending staircase on Liberty Street or through the private off-street parking at the rear of the property. As you enter the townhome you will be immediately awestruck by the preserved colonial past that is captured throughout the home. In the front of the home, you will find the formal living room with floor-to-ceiling windows, an original fireplace, high ceilings, and William and Mary furniture. Directly off this space is the formal dining room with a large hardwood dining table set for 6, a colonial-inspired chandelier, and stunning built-in bookshelves. Along the main hallway connecting the townhome from front to back find the main floor powder room along with beautiful artwork. Follow the hallway to the rear of the property where a modernized gourmet galley kitchen awaits you. This fully appointed kitchen boasts high-end appliances, stone countertops, custom cabinetry, and a butler’s nook. Find everything you need to cook delicious meals including cooking utensils, pots, pans, and dishware. A microwave and a coffee maker are provided. Directly off the kitchen is the den presenting a comfortable sofa, chairs, and smart TV perfect for all your streaming needs. Step out on the back terrace and follow the staircase down to the shared garden patio. The ample room allows you to spread out and enjoy beautiful Savannah mornings and evenings under the shade of live oak trees, cathedral spires, and high privacy walls. On the third level of the building find the two private bedrooms. In the master suite enjoy a brand-new king mattress, personal fireplace wrapped in granite, closet and dresser storage, and shuttered windows original to the home. The second bedroom features a new queen mattress, fireplace, and closet and dresser storage. Both private bedrooms feature their own bathrooms, well-appointed with everything you need from bath towels, hand towels, shampoo, and body wash. Working remotely during your stay? The townhome has ample desk space and high-speed WIFI perfect for video conferencing and multi-tasking.

The stay at Liberty house was fantastic! It is in a wonderful location, convenient to great restaurants and historical sites. The house was beautiful, and we would definitely book again.
What a fun place to stay in Savannah! Beautiful home with so much character- and an excellent location. The hosts were great at checking in and responding quickly if we had a question. Loved sitting in the parlor and enjoying all the decor!
Very beautiful place to stay. Very clean and had everything you might need for a long weekend stay. The book collection, amazing…could have spent a week just sitting and reading. Traffic noise a little loud at times, but walk out back and you have the peacefulness of the historic cemetery and quite a lovely walk through that. We all had a nice time. Parking for one car was easy and nice to have with the rental.
Very nice and clean. Loved the traditional feel and the ease of walking everywhere. Had breakfast right down the street. Lots of room, bedding was great. Would highly recommend.
Beautiful restored home in a perfect location. Comfortable beds and super clean. Great eating spots close by. Savannah is such a wonderful destination!
The house was the oldest and coolest place I've ever stayed. Close to the trolley stop and short walk everywhere. It was a true Savannah old south experience.
I would highly recommend staying here.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. The location was perfect and was within walking distance to everything and on the trolley stop if you were riding around the city on the trolley. Highly recommend staying here and would stay here again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and greatly appreciated our welcoming hosts. The accommodations were perfect and location was ideal and accessible to the heart of the city. Highly recommend!
This house has everything you need for a great stay. We loved staying here. The beds are super comfy and the bathroom stocked with toiletries. The kitchen is also stocked well including pods for the morning coffee. The house is very clean and its location is perfect for walking around Savannah.Would definitely recommend staying here!
Beautiful, spacious, within walking distance of all historic district points of interest, shops and restaurants. Chase was very accessible if we had any questions.
Great all around stay! House was beautiful and came with everything we needed for our extended weekend stay. So nice coffee, tp, soap/shampoo and all the basic necessities were provided. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this property!
Beautiful and spacious historic property. Great location. Convenient private parking. Safe area. We could walk to most of the places we wanted to visit including theater, restaurants, and shops. Easy acess to highways for out of town visits. The owners did well by balancing preservation, restoration, and renovation for a comfortable living experience steeped in history.
House was as described and we really enjoyed the stay. All supplies we needed were there and check in was simple and easy. We enjoyed and would likely book again if we were in Savannah.
