Sunset Escape: Tranquil Island Living with Panoramic Views
With sweeping west-facing views of the Salish Sea, Orcas Island, and the distant Canadian Gulf Islands, Sunset Escape more than lives up to its name. This comfortable, professionally managed two-bedroom home is designed for easy living —offering peace, feeling of privacy, and panoramic beauty no matter the weather.
Five Reasons to Stay at Sunset Escape This Season:
**Unmatched Views: Wide-open vistas of water, islands, and ever-changing skies set the scene for stunning sunsets and quiet mornings alike.
**Relaxed Outdoor Living: A large west-facing deck—partially covered—lets you enjoy fresh air and salt breezes whether you`re wrapped in a blanket or sipping a warm drink.
**Hot Tub with a View: Take in the stillness of the bay and stars above from your private hot tub perch.
**Kid-Friendly Loft: A cozy hideaway above the great room (accessed by ladder), perfect for books, games, or mid-afternoon dreaming.
**Thoughtfully Designed: The home’s single-level layout (plus loft), open-concept living area, and casual, coastal vibe make it easy to settle in and feel at home.
Life Slows Down at Sunset Escape
Step through the French doors and out to the deck, where the water is always in view—whether glowing gold in the late afternoon light or calm and still in the quiet hours of the morning. Indoors, vaulted ceilings and wide windows flood the great room with natural light. A propane fireplace offers cozy warmth for quiet evenings spent reading, chatting, or watching a movie together.
The open kitchen and dining space are well-equipped for everything from simple snacks to leisurely home-cooked meals. The flow between kitchen, dining, and living makes it easy to stay connected whether you’re cooking, playing a board game, or curled up with a good book.
Two restful bedrooms—each with plush bedding and soft lighting—plus a full bath with a walk-in shower and the bonus loft space, make this home ideal for couples, small families, or friends traveling together.
Things to Do on Lummi Island This Time of Year:
~Watch ferries and fishing boats drift by—you’ll have the best seat in the house.
~Stroll local beaches or wander inland trails like the Baker Preserve for forested serenity and high-elevation views.
~Visit artist studios and galleries for a glimpse into the island’s creative community.
~Stop by the Islander store for essentials and local flavor, or bring provisions to cook and stay tucked in.
~Bring a kayak or paddleboard to explore the bay on calmer days—just be mindful of weather, tides, and your own comfort level.

There is a separate garage space at the end of the driveway which is not available at this time.
As a professionally managed property you will receive top notch service and communication. Lummi Island Concierge has a team ready to assist you before and during your stay.

Lummi Island is a special place - time seems to slow down when you cross from the mainland on the Whatcom Chief. Expect relaxation and rejuvenation.
The North End of the island has a loop road that is open to vistas of the mainland, the Salish Sea, and the islands beyond. You can travel the loop by foot, bike or by car - take your time and enjoy every turn.
There are a number of preserves on the island which offer short nature hikes, or a hike up the side of the mountain to reach a vista point that has amazing views to the south of the San Juan Islands - a must do!
Lummi Island boasts the Beach Store Cafe, usually open Wednesday through Sunday, and the Islander Store which is the hub of the island, a general store with a collection of artists items next door and the Saturday market from Memorial Day through Labor Day. There are also farm and flower stands around the island and you can usually buy fresh eggs along the roadside.
Lummi Island is home to a variety of artists who are happy to open their studios, mostly by appointment. Check out our island guide prior to your arrival.
A trip on the Whatcom Chief Ferry is required to get to the Sunset Escape. The ferry is operated by Whatcom County, and runs at least every hour between 6.40am and midnight on weekdays, a little less on weekends. Round trip fare is $15 for the vehicle and driver and $8 per passenger or for walk-ons. Fare is collected during the run to the island by the purser who will come to your vehicle to collect - credit or debit card only, no cash is accepted.
Walk, bike or drive to the house from the ferry dock and `downtown` Lummi Island. We are approximately 3.5 miles from this area of the island. `Downtown Lummi Island` consists of The Islander - general store, coffee and pastries, wine, beer and alcohol. Also attached is Sisters Gallery which highlights Island Crafters and Artisans.
The Island Library has books and movies, of course but also an island history section. The Island Post Office is a full service post office with limited hours, and the Beach Store Cafe has great pizza and specials every weekend.
There are few services on the island so we suggest picking up groceries in Bellingham or Ferndale prior to coming out to the island. If you prefer to have your groceries or something special in the house upon your arrival. Guests may order concierge service as a separate amenity from this booking by going to Whatcom Concierge on the web. Other services and amenities are available as well, including during stay housekeeping, and a personal chef service!
Once you book the Sunset Escape, we will send you all the information you need to plan and have a great stay.
If you have any questions about the house or the area prior to booking please contact us, we will happily answer any questions you have.
A Rental Agreement regarding the home is required to be signed by the guest on the booking before the cancellation period ends. The agreement will be sent to you through the booking platform upon booking.
The home is not child-proofed - there are no covers on the outlets, or locks on cabinets containing cleaning products, etc. You are responsible for taking precautions to keep your children safe.
The property is near a (quiet) road and is not fenced, please keep your children within sight distance.
