It suited us fine but we found it certainly less than “deluxe.” The downstairs bedroom bathroom shower was particularly frustrating and disappointing - not easy to find water temp and pressure and the containers of soap, conditioner and shampoo were not labeled and filled with fluids that were had strangely congealed. The whole bathroom needs some updating and care. And it was difficult to use the nice front room to meet together given how far apart the chairs were. It wasn’t at all cozy or hospitable.
House has lots of historic charm. Had a group of 7 adults to celebrate OTS graduation at Maxwell. Plenty of space and easy drive to base. Owner was responsive to a couple questions. Would stay here again.

Good Visit.
Although, the house is old, it was very big which helped in accommodating our family. We had a good visit.

Works very well for a large group. Plenty of rooms, beds and bathrooms. Plenty of seating space for large groups to gather. Location not good. When we told local people where we were staying they all said watch our backs. Don’t go out at night. It is highly probable you’ll hear gunshots. We did not hear gunshots but lots of sirens. And we found cockroaches.
Eight of us stayed at this home for five nights as part of our Civil Rights trip. What a comfortable place to come back to at the end of the day. There were a few things we needed along the way and the managers got them to us quickly. The home is about 5-10 minutes from the major sites in Montgomery. What a fine place to stay!
The home was beautiful! We came to the area for the Air Force graduation. It was close to town and the base. There was more than enough room for all 6 of us. The Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of towels, wash rags, tissues for the bathrooms. It was a little musty smelling the first day but then it went away. Overall a Beautiful older home! We would recommend this place if you have a large group coming to the area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. The home is super spacious, still has the charm of older home. The landlord was accommodating and very quick when we had an issue come up. They sent us messages throughout our stay to make sure everything was ok and see if we needed anything. I would gladly stay there again. Thanks so much for your hospitality!

Stayed in late February 2024 with a group of nine for a week. We previously stayed in the house for a similar trip in 2023 and knew it was a great location with easy access to downtown and other areas of Montgomery. The house is comfortable and roomy. Highly recommend as a place to stay; especially for a group. We hope to have a similar group return in 2025.
This house is in a quiet neighborhood and is close to Maxwell AFB. There is sufficient room in the home for SOOOO many people! And, plenty of bathrooms-no lines here!
The only recommendation I have is to add some blackout curtains to the front upstairs windows. We were there in early May and those front rooms got very hot.
Our group of 11 adults arrived from Wisconsin (with one from Florida) to spend a week exploring the history of Civil Rights and connections to our lives today. This property allowed us to gather easily in the morning for devotions, return mid-afternoon for rest and reflection, eat together and engage in card games, thoughtful discussion and just plain relaxation. It was well stocked with all the basics and the property manager was quick to respond with any concerns or questions. An overall wonderful place for large groups that want to be close to downtown Montgomery .
Property is very large and absolutely beautiful. Railings are needed on the stairs out front. Had a couple of people that had difficulty navigating the steep stairs upon entrance at the front door. Please add railings at least one in accordance with ADA.

Not Acceptable
Nothing about this home is restored. The staging posted in the pictures are not accurate. This home has lots of insects (big, small, inside and outside). Rooms were not cleaned before entering the home and stored dishes were caked with food. This house has so much potential to be absolutely fabulous. But unfortunately additional work needs to be done to achieve that.

Not What We Expected!!
Property needs attention! It's large & have beautiful features but need more upkeep. Ceiling lighting was inadequate during the evening and night, especially in the kitchen. Blown bulbs reported but not addressed. Several light switches didn't work. Flys, wasps and lady bugs inside with dead flys on window sillsion window silldeitche
We were welcomed by a musty smell each time we entered the house. Bedding was musty also Two cockroaches also made an appearance. Lighting was minimal
NO HOT WATER for showers for 48 hours for 6 people. Tried to contact Josh about this with no response all week.
Over all,a C-/D+ house
Would like the cleaning fee waived for these inconveniences

Response from VrboOwner on 30 Oct, 2022
We certainly appreciated having Sheryl and her friends staying with us. Was sorry to hear about her experience. Had she reached out to us during the stay, we've would've responded within a matter of minutes to any issue, but we received no such feedback. She later mentioned that she did not know where her emails had gotten to. Our responsiveness
is a point of pride for us and evidenced clearly in other reviews as well. We work hard to ensure everyone has a positive experience at our properties. We did have the water temperature addressed which ended up being a simple switch on the water heater that had been tripped during a storm. Our plumber had the issue diagnosed and was there a total of 10 minutes. The house is very old although it's updated and our housekeepers do a great job of cleanliness. Disappointed by the review as we didn't have an opportunity to address, but again appreciate the stay and would love the opportunity to host again to prove our service.
This property was very well-located in the garden district near a lot of beautiful homes, near restaurants, and near Alabama State University. Two things were negative. There was not sufficient hot water for all seven people, no matter how we staggered the showers. Second, the lighting was quite dim in some of the rooms. The house has great potential, but I would suggest the property management company make a punch list of things that need attention and fix them. For instance, showers had conditioner, shampoo and body wash (I think), but nothing was marked so determining which was which was a trial-and-error process. There was no facial tissue, not enough mugs for the number of guests in such a large house, and, there was no railing for the steps to the front porch. There was nothing wrong that we couldn’t deal with, but many little disappointments. The management company was somewhat responsive, good for a few questions and concerns, but not so good for others, like getting more towels out to us quickly (we were staying for five days) or addressing the lack of sufficient hot water. I would advise people to overlook the negatives if they need the room and location, but know that the house comes with some minor annoyances.
