About this property

Welcome to Cayuga Cottage! Nestled on Cayuga Lake, the cottage has sprawling views inside and out. Enjoy your coffee on the dock as the sun rises over the lake. Take the kids to the waterfront playground at Taughannock Falls State Park (5 min), then hike to the waterfall before hitting the Cayuga Wine Trail (10 min). Hungry? Fire up the grill and relax on the welcoming patio. Or check out the local eateries in Trumansburg (5 min) or Ithaca (20 min). Bring the family and make memories!
– THE SPACE –
Three-tier cottage with sprawling views of Cayuga Lake and ample outdoor space. The first floor features a fully stocked modern kitchen, updated full bathroom, and open living room. The second floor has three bedrooms: two with lake views, and a third bedroom including a double bed and bunkbeds. The second floor includes a second full bathroom, and the third floor has a fourth bedroom with separate living room, pull-out sofa bed, kitchenette, and a balcony with spectacular lake views.
ATTENTION: the second-floor bathroom and entire third floor are NOT available between November 1st and May 1st.
Step outside onto the covered patio with overgrown pergola, including dining area, BBQ grill, gas fire pit, and ample seating. Venture around the corner and onto the dock, with a large picnic table with seating for 12. Our favorite spot: happy hour and dinner on the dock as the sun sets.
Two kayaks are included and available for your use.
***** PLEASE READ the entire listing before booking!
– DETAILS –
You have full exclusive access to the entire home and property during your stay, including the dock. You are welcome to bring your boat(s) to tie up at the dock during your stay. Your Host does not stay at the property.
Summer: Enjoy all 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and a second kitchen on the third floor.
Winter: The house features 3 bedrooms and 1 full bathroom, as part of the property is closed for the season. Bedroom #4 (with a double bed) is not available.
The “summer” season is between May 1st and November 1st. If booking outside of this season, be mindful of the reduced number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and the accessibility of the driveway (see below). Feel free to send us a message if anything is not clear.
*** DRIVEWAY ACCESS ***
The cottage is located at the bottom of a steep gravel driveway with a sharp turn.
You MUST have a 4WD vehicle to use the driveway. Otherwise, you can park at the top and walk down 125 steps (skip the gym) to access the house and lakefront. You can comfortably fit one vehicle at the waterfront. Additional parking is available at the top of the driveway.
* Important Notice *
Use of the gravel driveway is weather dependent during the cold winter months. Extremely cold weather and snow can cause the driveway to become very icy and slippery. Use your best judgement. It is okay to use on mild days, but exercise caution on very cold days. If it’s icy, play it safe. Park up top and walk down.
We cannot guarantee that the driveway will be available between November 1st and May 1st.
** FINAL NOTES **
Dogs without a history of biting are welcome ($150 pet fee applies).
A liability waiver is required prior to check-in.
We look forward to welcoming you!
This is a family home—absolutely no smoking indoors. A $500 cleaning fee will be charged if smoking is detected inside. Thank you for respecting our space.

About the host
Hosted by Ross M.
Originally from Pennsylvania, I have a passion for travel and exploring beautiful places. My family and I fell in love with the Finger Lakes region during our first visit, because it perfectly balances our love for nature, wine, and the water.
As long-time fans of booking VRBOs for our own family trips, the natural next step was to VRBO our home as well. It's our chance to give groups of families and friends an incredible experience, and help them forge lifelong memories.
We look forward to welcoming you into our home, the Cayuga Cottage. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out anytime. ☺️
Why they chose this property
The cottage is in the absolute best location (although I'm biased!). It's nestled down right on the lake, surrounded by lush greens. Very private and secluded, with spectacular views. Yet, drive 5 minutes, and you'll be in the quaint village of Trumansburg visiting a brewery, restaurant, or enjoying a scoop of ice cream. Drive 5-10 minutes in the opposite direction, and you'll find several wineries, as well as the Taughannock State Park and numerous hiking trails. If that wasn't enough, Ithaca Downtown is only 20 minutes away, where you'll find virtually anything else your heart desires.
What makes this property unique
The outdoor space. Bask in the sun on the enormous dock, perhaps even go for a swim. Or relax in the shade beneath the overgrown pergola. As the sun sets, fire up the grill and enjoy dinner outside. And of course, a night on the lake wouldn't be complete without some roasted marshmallows.
