The house is over 100 years old. Has many modern amenities including central air in the summer and radiant heat in the winter. The beds are so comfortable guest have asked the name of the manufacture.

My family was in town for a dance event and we missed out on booking the hotel where the convention was held. I’m so glad we did, because staying at the urban farmhouse was a treat. Everyone had their own space and it was clean, cozy and comfortable. The listed pics didn’t really do it justice; it was a great find.
We loved having dedicated parking and the old farmhouse worked perfect for our group. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the house but it was easy to get to the sightseeing we wanted to do, the house was clean, check in and out were super easy, host was VERY easy to communicate with and provided great information very quickly! Everything was clean and we had all we needed and beds were comfortable. Really great for our group!
My only complaint would be the amount of traffic in front of the house. The house was wonderful. Easy access, lots of space, comfortable beds, and so much more. Only a 17 mile drive to downtown Chicago. Lots of shopping and eating within walking distance.
We had a great stay at the Urban Farmhouse! Owner was very quick to communicate when i had a question! We’ve stayed here before and some nice upgrades were made to the property, both stays have been excellent! Will book again!
This antique house with updated amenities is highly enjoyable. Outside the city and suburban setting felt good. Lots of inside space to hang around. Thanks to the owner for cooperation.
This was an adorable oasis for our weekend, close to a cute Main Street downtown with some great dining. We needed laundry done and it was easy. Convenient to everywhere we needed to go around the northern suburbs. Owner promptly responded to inquiries and was helpful with suggestions.
Thomas was amazing and incredibly helpful. The house is adorable, and the beds were comfortable. Just don't sleep in the front bedroom if you are a light sleeper. The traffic starts very early. Will stay here if we go to Chicago again.
Highly recommended if you need to be in the Des Plaines area. Walkable to the downtown area, clean, big, easy. We will return next time we are home to visit relatives. The whole-house AC system is a nice new touch, the beds are nice, the house is super cute. Book it!
Everything was as advertised. Very clean. Beds were very comfortable. The host was communicative and responsive, would definitely recommend if you're needing a place in that surrounding area.
The house had everything we needed for our family of 6. Our favorite spot was the big porch on the front. We mainly used the house just for sleeping and spent majority of our time sight seeing. The beds are comfortable, just a little squeaky and the living room tv could be updated but it was fine for us. Would definitely use this property again in the future.
Fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, floor and baseboards, doors, fan in bathrooms all dirty. I had to fix the toilet 2xs. Had a basket of used bar soap with hair on it left for us to use. Food and trash between the fridge & cabinets. When i contacted the owner, he is refusing to refund me. Called vrbo direct and reported him with photo/videos. Owner said if i gave him a bad review, he would give me one. SMH
This place was FILTHY! I question the validity of previous reviews.
This property screams "neglect". It is unfortunate that no cleaning standards are being implemented since some of the updates (mainly fixtures) to the house are fairly high end. We were appalled at the conditions we encountered. There were hairs EVERYWHERE (on walls, floors, towels, blankets, furniture), cobwebs behind every blind and in most corners, dirt/debris on floors and rugs, missing slats for blinds, stains on towels and rugs, months or years of dust/dirt buildup on woodwork, drips and splatters on walls, fridge and closet doors, a dirty robe hanging on the bathroom door. If we had not prepaid or had ANYWHERE else to stay, we definitely would have turned this place down at first sight. I don't feel it is in ANY way fair to pay a large cleaning fee ($85) and be given filthy accommodations. Definitely cannot recommend!

Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness
Very tired and out dated.
While I didn't feel this was a bad house, just needs a really good cleaning and update mostly. I wore flip flops to shower. Every corner had dust, food waste and layers of dust and dirt behind all radiators, and appliances need updated. Refrigerator door does not close easily and stove is way out of calibration. No tvs in bedrooms, although there were cables for them hanging from walls. Poor lighting in all rooms. No light for dining table area. Literally lit a candle to be able to see better. Floor heating units were a hazard for walking by side of bed due to falling apart and metal edges protruding from unit in back small bedroom. Windows were filthy not only on the outside but enough layer on inside that I could leave a finger mark and write my name. If Urban farmhouse only requires one barn style door in the back entryway then I guess this is it. It's cheap, and it shows. No bugs at least.
