About this property

Beautiful Historic Property in Normandale--2 Min. Walk to Beach!

Built in 1840 as Normandale's post office, this 1,700 sf building has been fully modernized but retains classic details like hand-hewn beams and original pine floors. The interior features a new kitchen, 2 new bathrooms, central AC, water filtration system, and a blend of new and vintage furnishings. A large cedar deck in back offers plenty of seating with views to a wooded hillside. The yard features a six-person hot tub, professional grade BBQ, charming potting shed, numerous perennial gardens, raised vegetable gardens, a back patio with fireplace and cooker--all on just under one acre. Normandale's charming main beach is a 2-minute walk down the hill. The popular Tacos N Tequila in The Century Inn is a short stroll away. You are also centrally located to discover all that Ontario's South Coast has to offer--award-winning vineyards, farmer's markets, eco-adventure tours, shopping for collectibles and local crafts, farm-to-table dining choices, numerous stunning beaches...all are within a 15-minute drive. Or just stay in and enjoy the beauty of the day and countless stars at night. As my daughter always says, "Normandale is a slice of heaven."

Host profile image
I am a media professional and author of a few as-yet-unpublished novels. I love to travel and restore and decorate older homes. I run a side business selling vintage collectibles, some of which you'll get to enjoy during your stay.

Why they chose this property

My husband, daughter and I bought the post office over five years ago as a vacation getaway, and we consider it as much our home as our primary residence. We've poured countless hours into developing the perennial and raised veggie gardens on the outside and decorating the interior spaces just so. The building and garage were painted in 2021 and all the fencing has been replaced or repaired in 2022. All hot tub components are new as well. Like we do, I think you will love this area and the post office makes an ideal home base. We have only started to rent the property out this summer, so we wish to invite you to share some time at our wonderful home away from home while you get to know the magic of Norfolk County.

What makes this property unique

The PO is a designated historical property filled with lovingly selected furnishings and collectibles. The PO also boasts a fully stocked large kitchen, kitchen island with seating, as well as a generous great room with dining and plenty of seating space, loads of outdoor space for relaxing or exploring. Close proximity to two beaches is a plus, but the privacy of such a large and charming property is unique. I will provide an extensive guidebook for your stay that includes many insider tips and advice for enjoying the area.
