A wonderful, atmospheric place with a real sense of history yet everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Responsive host, quiet location within easy reach of the lovely city of Valetta.
This property was exactly as advertised. We loved staying in a local neighbourhood and off the tourist track a bit. This historical property still had the modern conveniences we needed, so our stay was very comfortable. The location allowed us to walk most places and use the ferry to get over to Valetta. The host provided very detailed instructions to find the property and get in. No glitches. We had a great vacation soaking up the history, having perfect weather, and finding awesome food.
Most excellent property everything it was advertised as and more . Alfred was incredibly helpful with detailed instructions and helpful advice replied promptly to every request would very strongly recommend this house . Cheers Sarah
Quirky and characterful! The kitchen was good, well equipped, plenty of room, though we brought down the fan from the top bedroom as there wasn’t one in the kitchen. The living room is on a mezzanine above the kitchen with a tv with Netflix etc. There’s a shower room on the ground floor. One floor up is a spacious characterful double bedroom with window out onto the lane at the front. Up another floor is the spacious second bedroom with an en suite - which doesn’t have a door! This was ok for us as our daughter ended up staying in that room. There is also a roof terrace, up some steep steps.Very good location, though bear in mind you are up a hill from the harbour, if that’s an issue. The ferry stop for Valletta is a 10 min walk away. A small general shop is on the corner and another, a little further away, also did baked goods. There is a Tuesday street market nearby, handy for such things as laundry detergent, veg etc.We had a hire car and parking in the vicinity was always possible.
The Most Breath Taking and Historic Holiday Home Ever
The house is absolutely fantastic. It is over 400 years old and has been modified in a very caring way to provide a sumptuous holiday home for adults.
Alfred, the owner - has thought of everything - I have never stayed in a holiday home where culinary extras - spices, oils are included together with all cleaning and washing, toiletries everything is provided.
There is what we called the cinema room. Where you can sit in the living area - settees and watch TV as if you were in the cinema.
Alfred even ensured that there was food in the fridge as we arrived late on a Saturday and shops closed on a Sunday.
Alfred arranged taxis to and from accommodation and
provided us with so much guidance and advice.
The aim of Alfred, is to ensure that his guests have a wonderful holiday.
He truly exceeded all our expectations, never before have I come across a host who wants to ensure that their guests have a great time rather than just taking the payment.
Being outside of Valletta but within a 10 minute ferry ride, the cost of accommodation, food and drink is about half the price.
Not sure, what else I can say, truly fantastic.
Großartiges Haus in perfekter Lage. Bushaltestellen und Fährhafen für Überfahrt nach Valletta innerhalb weniger Minuten erreichbar. Die Menschen auf Malta sind freundlich und hilfsbereit, wir werden sicher wiederkommen.
I have been occupied in the travel trade since 1980, working as a representative, tour operator and guide in Malta. I am acquainted with the assets the island and our heritage offers and with the specific requirements of a diverse clientele.
Why they chose this property
It is in a very quite location, in a pedestrian street, void of cars. The town folks can be heard off and on, but this is welcome so-called white noise, which adds to the flair of this ancient town and the fanfare of its people. It is situated on relatively high ground, close to the encircling fortification walls of the Knights, nevertheless only 10 minutes away from the scenic waterfront and Grand Harbor Marina, with ferries to Valletta and connecting fast ferries to our sister island of Gozo.
What makes this property unique
The property is fully equipped and offers 3 levels and a roof.
Each of these levels, one with an appealing hall and side bathroom, a fully- equipped kitchen/dining with an overlapping living room, the other 2 with each a bedroom (the upper bedroom with an en-suite bathroom) and the roof with sun beds and sofas, offers a high measure of relaxation.
