The view cannot be beat at this house! Perfectly positioned to watch the sunset on Crystal Lake. We even got to see a firework show on Valentines Day!This was our second time staying here and first time with kids. We felt at home the whole time with plenty of space to unwind and stretch out, on the sectional, after a day of skiing. Only a 15 minute drive to Crystal mountain and less then 5 minutes to downtown Beulah. We’ll definitely be back!
We had a small gathering of family to celebrate my dad’s life after his recent passing . We loved the lake view and the weather was perfect. The cottage was well equipped & very comfortable!
I can't say enough about the hosts, Erica and John. We had a family emergency while staying and they were very accommodating and available if we needed anything. Even though we weren't able to enjoy the property and area as we had intended it was a beautiful place to be able to return to after daily trips to Munson Hospital in TC each day. Thanks again Erica and John

We would love to have you back for a more enjoyable vacation! Hope all is well.
This is our annual Beulah/Frankfort family vacation, with extended family across multiple rental homes. This was a perfect location with easy access to Beulah, Frankfort, Point Betsie, and Sleeping Bear Dunes. The house was perfect for 4 adults and 2 teens. The deck allowed for a pretty view of Crystal Lake. The sweet hosts left us a welcome basket with s'mores ingredients, which were put to good use at the fire pit. We had a wonderful stay! Thanks!
We enjoyed our stay very much. The home had great views of the lake and was an excellent location to ski. Close to Beulah and Frankfort as well. We would recommend the cottage for summer and winter visits.
Perfect little house for our stay in Michigan. Loved how open the main area was and took advantage of deck over looking the lake every chance we could.
We didn’t get a chance to fire up the s’mores but appreciate the little welcome gift (and chocolate bars did not go to waste).
Would stay again if a chance arrives.
We rented this home because of the proximity to Crystal Mountain. It was an easy 10 minute drive and we were on the slopes. The house is beautiful and you can watch the sunset over Crystal Lake. Lots of nearby trails for hiking. The house has a great layout and we were 8 people and had plenty of space. We will return!
This was a great little spot for our Adult Ski trip and I wouldn’t hesitate bringing our kids to this spot.
Nice open concept with lots of natural lighting. Perfect for lounging after skiing all day. Only 15 minutes from Crystal Mountain and less than 5 minutes from downtown Beulah.
I would highly recommend this house for winter or summer trips! I’m sure it is awesome in the summer since the lake view is 👌
Overall the property was great for the price. Good location and got the job done. The heat in the property was a bit all over the place. Some rooms were hot, some cold. Could definately use more bathroom towels. The driveway could have used a proper plow. Plenty of spaces but mostly covered by ice that you couldnt drive over.
Great Lakehouse that comfortably fit 7 of us. Great location to Frankfort and Sleeping Bear Dunes. Host left us a nice welcoming card and fixings for S’mores. The only reason for 4 stars on accuracy of listing was because I was unable to find public beach access to Crystal lake within walking distance. However, public access to lake was a quick 1-2 mile drive into town of Beulah. I highly recommend this location for any family!
We had a great long weekend here. The property is very newly remodeled and everything is modern and sleek. Our multigenerational group had plenty of space to eat and sit together in the upstairs common area and enough bedrooms for everyone to have some privacy. We were there in the winter so we did not use any of the outdoor things, but inside was great. It was a quick drive to Crystal Mountain to ski and an easy drive up to Traverse City to shop and have dinner. Erica was easy to work with and everything went well. We would stay here again.
The property is beautiful & spacious & comfortably fit our group of 10. However, only 4 stars because it was EMPTY. Traveling from across the country I was disappointed there was no: Iron/Steamer, Kcups for the coffee machine, Shampoo or Conditioner, Hair Dryer, Salt & Pepper, dish soap & only 3 trashbags for a 3 night stay. Again, absolutely stunning property, just bring everything you may need.
The home was perfect for our family. We loved the space and cleanliness of the house. The deck had a great view, comfortable chairs and dog gates were nice for our dogs. It was nice to have comfortable beds and pillows. The area is perfect for quiet evenings watching the sunset and exploring Frankfort and Lake Michigan area. The town has great restaurants and the little beach in town is really nice. It would be nice to have a number to call for firewood delivery and some spices or salt and pepper in the kitchen, and perhaps a regular coffee maker but all very minor just suggestions. We enjoyed the house and will be back for sure. Thank you!
We enjoyed our stay. Here are a few suggestions: 1. The basement rooms were very damp. A dehumidifier might be helpful. 2. The igniters on the stove need to be repaired. 3. We would have appreciated a booklet of information like we’ve seen in other rentals. Information such as when to put out the trash (we figured it out by looking at neighbors), where to shop for groceries, sightseeing places, nearest hospital, how much we were expected to clean up before we left, etc.
We spent the weekend inside because of the massive snow storm, low temps and terrific strong winds. So, no skiing. But a lot of time in the house, and it was comfortable. Although there was an assortment of pans and dinnerware there are no extras one might find in other rental houses (puzzles, games, brochures about local activities, pantry staples including salt & pepper), so bring anything you need. The bedrooms were nice, and perfect for 3 couples with 2Q and 1K beds. I was a little surprised that the house wasn't as big as it looked in the photos. Short lens camera shots I guess. But it was comfortable

Overall a nice stay with a few notable issues
Our stay was generally really great-- the house was beautiful and the location absolutely stellar!
There were a few issues that bothered us considering the overall cost of the rental. First, we didn't really receive clear check-in instructions or a manual to the house, so we ended up having to ask the host a few questions. They were moderately responsive, but didn't seem to live locally and I was unsure whether there was an local property manager, as there were things that clearly needed to be replaced and repaired in the home.
The trash can outside was completely full and overflowing (with trash bags in the driveway) upon our arrival, so we spent two days requesting a special trash pickup that the host finally took care of. There were several overhead lightbulbs that were burnt out in the downstairs bedrooms, which was problematic because we had older family members staying there who needed the overhead lighting. The host just told us to look for them in the pantry and change them ourselves, but we couldn't find lightbulbs and gave up.
The bunk bed in the bunk room was incredibly rickety and unstable. We had a few handy guys in our group who had allen wrenches, so we took it upon ourselves to tighten it up and make it safer, but this is the kind of thing an owner or property manager should be on top of.
The kitchen also is completely bare-- no salt, pepper, olive oil, etc. Bring all your own cooking supplies!

Thanks for your response. Although we strive for perfection unfortunately not every guest will be happy. That said, the trash was picked up within 24 hours of your call. This is a small town and things don't happen as fast here.
We did check with our cleaning girls, and they say that there were no lights were out and the salt and pepper shakers were in the pantry... my apologies as they should have been on the counter. We do hope that you will give us another chance in the future.
You’ll be hard pressed to find a better property and hosts. Thank you, Erica & John for a great Labor Day weekend!

About the host
Hosted by Erica & John
Hi! Our family fell in love with northern Michigan and the beauty of Crystal Lake. After visiting the area for years, we finally had the opportunity to purchase and remodel this cottage so we could create a place where friends, family, and guests could slow down and enjoy lake life.
We love spending time here boating on the lake, exploring the nearby towns, and relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening.
Hosting allows us to share this special place with others, and we hope our guests enjoy the peaceful setting, beautiful views, and all the adventures northern Michigan has to offer as much as we do.
Why they chose this property
We chose this location because it offers the perfect balance of peaceful lake living and easy access to some of Crystal Lake's best attractions. The area around Crystal Lake is known for its beautiful scenery, quiet atmosphere, and friendly small-town charm.
One of the things we love most is how close the cottage is to the lake. Crystal Lake’s clear blue water and sandy beaches make it a perfect place for swimming, boating, kayaking, and relaxing on warm summer days.
At the same time, you’re just a short drive from the charming nearby towns of Beulah and Frankfort, where you can explore local restaurants, shops, breweries, and Lake Michigan beaches.
For outdoor adventures, the area offers incredible hiking, biking, and scenic drives, including visits to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. In the winter months, skiing and snowboarding at Crystal Mountain Resort are just a short drive away.
What we enjoy most about this neighborhood is the peaceful setting, beautiful lake views, and the chance to slow down and enjoy nature while still being close to great restaurants, beaches, and outdoor activities.
