Looking for the picture-perfect lakefront cottage that makes you feel like you’re getting away from it all, but still convenient to all Lake Superior’s South Shore has to offer? You’ll find this and more at Corny Cottage!
This two-bedroom, one-bath lakefront cottage perfectly combines modern style (and amenities!) with the cozy charm that makes this area so authentic.
NOTE: During the winter, the three-season porch section of the cottage will very likely be too cold to utilize.
The South Shore is truly a place to get away from it all, but not so far from modern conveniences that getting food and gas feels like a chore. The guest book contains tips on all the incredible outdoor activities around here, as well as local arts, plus places to get groceries, dine out, grab a drink, etc. This is truly a year-round destination, whether you enjoy outdoor adventure, local cuisine, art, or simply the company of friends & family in one of the most beautiful locations in the northern U.S.
The home is just a few minutes from the center of Cornucopia, which has a delightful general store/market, awesome coffee shop, bar/restaurant, and marina. Bayfield is about 25 minutes away, as is Washburn (where you’ll find the largest grocery store in the area). Ashland is about 35 minutes away, with a natural foods co-op, Wal-Mart, and a wider range of shops). Superior & Duluth are an hour and a bit away.
We’re not sure what is the best feature of Corny Cottage: its stunning lakefront setting (not to mention views!) or the incredible combination of indoor-outdoor living the cottage provides.
The cottage interior has an open-plan living/kitchen area that opens up to an amazing three-season porch, all with floor-to-ceiling views out to the lake.
NOTE: During the winter, the three-season porch section of the cottage will very likely be too cold to utilize. We reduce our rates in the winter months accordingly, as we know this cuts down on the amount of space to lounge and dine. If you have any questions about this, please reach out anytime!
The kitchen has been thoughtfully appointed with everything and anything you need, including a wide range of spices, coffee (we feature coffee beans fresh-roasted just a few miles away), key appliances, as well as cookware/bakeware galore! We especially love the kitchen’s island, which provides additional prep space as well as can serve as an informal dining area (with stools for four people).
The living area has a crazy-comfy sofa (that converts to a full-size bed), wide-screen tv, gas fireplace, and a leather recliner that you may never want to leave.
The living/dining area flows into the three-season porch via two glass French doors. Your group will likely want to spend nearly all their time out here! The porch has a sectional, two lovely wood rocker chairs, and a dining table that can seat six comfortably. The porch is enclosed on three sides with floor-to-ceiling windows. You can gaze out at the lake while relaxing or dining. And with not having to deal with pesky summer insects!
A deck connects directly to the porch, which houses another dining table (for four) and gas grill. You can head out to the large back yard from the deck, which has a fire pit, hammock, another dining table, and our favorite, a wood glider swing that’s perched at the edge of the property.
Certainly the most impressive feature of this property is the lake, in particular, the wonderful platform that sits just a few steps above the lakeshore (accessed via a set of stairs from the property’s edge). You can spend the whole day here lounging, reading, or just enjoying the view and the sound of the waves.
The cottage’s two bedrooms both have queen-size beds (both with brand-new plush mattresses), oh-so-cozy bedding, and windows with views into the woods around the cottage.
The property’s owner took extraordinary care to preserve the rustic, lakefront charm of the cottage’s bones, but with updates to provide all the modern comforts one could desire.
Corny Cottage is the *real* South Shore experience: all the attention to detail you’d expect from a high-end Bayfield peninsula rental, but without the stuffiness or lack of character. We want you to kick your shoes off, put your feet up, relax and enjoy the company of friends, family, and your furry four-footed companions.
You'll need a car to reach the cabin as there's no public transit to speak of on the South Shore (on th other hand, we've never even heard of traffic up here!). The nearest airport is in Duluth, about an hour and 15 minutes away.
This home is in a heavily wooded area: seasonal pests/bugs can be expected. Watch children and pets near bluff/water's edge, there is no fencing. This home is dog friendly: While we make a considerable effort to clean up pet hair between guests, there may still be a few stray hairs in the home. The cottage has two bedrooms and then a pull-out couch in the main living area. There is also a sectional in the porch that can pull out to a bed during the summer months. This makes for an ideal set up for two couples or family with young kids who would enjoy sleeping on a couch! - Short drive or stroll to the nearest beach

This place was incredible! So cozy and had everything we needed. The yard was perfect for our dog. It was so quiet and relaxing. The sunsets and sunrises were amazing. We’ll be back!
We had a great time at this cozy cottage in a beautiful setting. The hosts provided everything to make us comfortable, including our four-legged family member, Lily.
My husband and I stayed here as a “baby moon” / birthday trip. The minute I saw the listing, I wanted to stay at this place and it didn’t disappoint. We loved watching the sunrise in the 3 seasons room. The kitchen was stocked with just about everything you need to cook and had high quality pots and pans. The house gave a cozy vibe and it is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We hope to make it back up in the future!
The house was perfect. So many fun and unique items. Loved how clean it was and had all the amenities that we needed. Will definitely stay there again.
Nicely refreshed property very close to the south shore of Lake Superior. Looking for a quick getaway from the metro area. Property included lots of amenities - very well stocked.

So glad you enjoyed your stay, thank you for coming!
Great little cottage on Siskiwit Bay. Wonderful views, quirky little surprises throughout the cottage, well stocked, comfy beds. Host communicates fantastically and even checked to make sure we had every thing we needed after we arrived…first time this had ever happened. Lots to do all around or do nothing. Either would be perfect. Highly recommend staying here.
We loved our stay at the Corny Cottage! Check-in was super easy and Erin did a great job communicating details prior to our arrival. The home was comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. We really appreciated Erin’s offer to have local food items delivered prior to our arrival…the smoked fish was a real treat! The only negative was the lake access was a little daunting, but the view was amazing! We loved spending time on the porch. We would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a more rural, natural setting.
First, Cornucopia, WI is a fantastic place to visit and explore. The cottage enhanced our experience with beautiful water views, great porch to relax and recharge, and very well set up. Plan to return again.
This property is so wonderful! Very thoughtfully stocked, amenities as advertised, with lots of extra touches! The artwork and decor is warm, earthy and varied. I will stay again! Dec 2024.

Robin, we are glad you enjoyed your time at the rental property, and we hope our efforts to keep the communication going with you helped out. It can be tricky when we have to communicate through any of the platforms, lots of things can create interference. thank you for choosing to stay with a Bark Point Ventures property.
Perfection! My dogs and I loved it here! My son and his wife dropped by and we enjoyed a cruise to the Apostle Islands, exploring Bayfield, and kayaking the caves. Beautiful location above Lake Superior, magnificent sunrises, and immaculate. Everything anyone could wish! I’m so appreciative of the dog friendly policy and they were on best behavior! We will be back!
