The Space One of my favorite things about Kansas City are its old glorious buildings - which is why I fell in love with this 1900 Victorian charmer. This home has seen a lot in it's 100+ years, including being converted into 4 separate apartments. Your Cozy Midcentury 2 bedroom is on the 3rd floor. Once you enter the space, you get to smile and settle in - you're in your home away from home. Welcome & relax.
I've scoured every antique store in the state to create an authentic mid-century space - focused on peace & comfort. Enjoy high end bedding & towels. You'll find a fully equipped kitchen to meet your cooking & entertaining needs. Coffee (& sugar & creamer) is provided, or take a short walk to Starbucks just 2 blocks away, or our local favorite - the Roasterie.
We have a smart tv allowing you to login to your favorite apps & continue where you left off. There are also DVDs & board games under the tv for your entertainment. G. Fiber Internet available - the fastest in town.
If you're here for work - there's a desk in the second bedroom for your use - right under the skylight so you can brainstorm with the clouds :)
For ideas on restaurants, night life & KC attractions while you're in town, I will share a link to my favorites!
Parking: There is plenty of off-street parking in the side lot - able to accommodate a moving van and more than one car if you have it.
Stairs: This is a 3rd floor apartment, accessed through the old butlers stairwell on the side of the home.
Pets: Unfortunately we cannot accommodate pets in this space.
Looking forward to your stay! Welcome & enjoy.

Perfect place to stay and get a taste of Westport. Clean and roomy with well equipped kitchen! You do have to negotiate couple-3 flights of stairs, but it is worth it!

Super nice full 2 bedroom apartment. Top floor of a 100 year old house (steps) that is totally decorated with vintage and mid-century modern decor. Everything including price was excellent. Walking distance to free streetcar and excellent restaurants. Lots of great architect and museums around the area. Short drive to the Harry S Truman Presidential Library and Museum and tour of the Truman’s home. Easy communication with hostess and extremely clean. I Kansas City, MO

Even on the top floor of an old house, this space was perfectly cooled during hot summer days. The hosts quickly answered any questions and were able to get us into the space early since our flight came in earlier than the normal check-in time. This was great!

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this wonderful review Kari! Thank you for being a great guest - I'm glad you enjoyed the space & we look forward to having you back! :)
We loved our stay at this property! The location was very convenient and neighborhood felt very safe. Plenty of parking spaces off the road. Jaymi was very helpful and sent us a very detailed list on recommendations of where to eat and what to do in Kansas City. She checked in during our stay to make sure everything was going well and nothing needed her attention. Kitchen was very well stocked and even had spices, olive oil, coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer. There are a few flights of stairs to climb to the apartment that I could see being a problem if you have mobility issues. I would definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great space to stay for the Chiefs/Colts game.
The place was in a quiet neighborhood close to the street car for ease of travel. You could easily walk to places in the neighborhood. It was clean and an easy check out. The host was very helpful and communicative. If you’re looking for a place in KC to relax this is it. P.S. the beds were very comfortable.

We had a great time. We used this place as our base during the world cup, but would recommend for any Kansas City visit. The place is located in Westport, in a quiet street but close to plenty of bars, restaurants, and places of interest (eg museum). Jaymi ensured our checkin process to be smoothless, provided recommendations, and made sure all our questions were answered. I will definetrly stay again when I come back to the city and would recommend to everyone!

Great place to stay in Kansas City. It is located in a safe quiet neighborhood. We loved being able to walk to restaurants, coffee shops and bars. The street car is only a few blocks away if you don’t like the walk very far. The off street park was a bonus. The apartment was clean and the bed was comfy after a long day of exploring. The hostess was quick to respond to any questions. We would definitely stay here again.

It's a beautiful and charming place to stay, The linens are soft and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen has a lot of pots and pans and is laid out well. Bathroom is also super clean and tidy. The neighborhood is pretty and it's next to the street car. Also has free parking, which is nice for a place so close to everything. I will stay here again.

I am sorry you felt your stay only deserved 2 stars. Unfortunately that is highly damaging to me. I know you didn't appreciate the fact that VRBO flagged you as a party risk - but that was out of our hands & naturally I had to follow up with you to ensure you were not hosting a party - a risk, you can understand, that no host wants to take as is could potentially cost us our license.
I wish you the best, but please in the future, do not take it out on the messenger who truly is doing her best to provide a safe & comfortable stay.
About the host
Hosted by Jaymi Zehms
The journey life takes us on can truly be wonderful. After years traveling the world - both through Peace Corps, living in Nicaragua for 2 years and later creating educational children's activities on Carnival Cruise Line on 26 ships over 3 years - life eventually brought me to Kansas City. I've been here for over 15 years now and it's the perfect mid-sized city for me.
My hosting story starts 10 years ago when the gal in the apartment below me moved out. I had recently finished renovating & designing my 3rd floor midcentury space & I thought - I need to renovate that one next! I LOVE good design. I LOVE creating eclectic spaces people want to be in. I've flipped a few houses to do just that, and ultimately that lead me to creating Fountain City Stays where I now manage several apartments & homes in Kansas City as well as Branson.
I love all things design, good food and great fun! I'll be sure to send you my favorites when you book! And even if you decide to stay somewhere else - I'd be happy to share my list of recommendations with you :)
Why they chose this property
Southmoreland is such a great neighborhood - I love living here & hosting here! I walk to the Nelson-Atkins museum most mornings & sometimes over to the beautiful Kauffmann Gardens. Southmoreland is centrally located & walking distance to great restaurants, Westport (10 min), the Plaza (20 min walk or 5 min drive), the new Streetcar is 3 blocks away (Oct 2025)! There's a school soccer field across the street; people walking their dogs; people working on their homes & lawns. You can't beat the neighborhood vibe combined with the convenience of walkability.
What makes this property unique
Built in 1900, this charming Victorian Home was converted to apartments & has been thoughtfully renovated to showcase its historic bones. After years of scouring antique stores, the space has been decked out in authentic midcentury elements (though a few are new). It's been fun to create a cozy space in what was an attic and redefine it as a cozy & welcoming space which I loved for years while living there.
