About this property

Sleeps 14 on a Duck River ranch: 4 en suite bedrooms, patio, fishing, horses

A 4-bedroom house that sleeps 14, with a full bathroom attached to every bedroom, on Riverbend Ranch, a 180-acre working cattle ranch wrapped on three sides by the Duck River in Normandy, Tennessee. Built for groups: family reunions, wedding parties, teams and retreats.

Inside, a vaulted great room with a leather sectional and streaming TV opens to the dining area and a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances. Out back, a patio with an outdoor dining table and grill.

Bedrooms: on the main floor, a king bedroom and a queen bedroom, each with its own bathroom. Upstairs, two bunk rooms, each with its own bathroom: one has a Twin XL over queen bunk plus a Twin XL bunk, the other a Twin XL over queen bunk plus two Twin XL bunks. 12 beds in all, 4.5 bathrooms, walk-in closets, and a laundry room with washer and dryer.

Your stay includes use of the ranch, shared with other guests staying on the property: over a mile of Duck River frontage for fishing, fly fishing, kayaking and floating, a stocked lake and ponds (bass, bluegill and catfish, catch and release, no license needed; the river requires a Tennessee license), a basketball court, BB gun range and fitness center. Meet the horses and cattle over the fence. A riverside bonfire pit is available on request.

Streaming TV over WiFi, no cable. Paved road to the ranch, gravel roads on the property.

Just over an hour from Nashville and BNA. About 30 minutes to Jack Daniel`s in Lynchburg and Nearest Green in Shelbyville. Groceries are about 15 minutes away.

Riverbend Ranch & Retreat is a nonprofit, and every booking funds no-cost retreats for pastors and ministry leaders. We live on the property and are easy to reach.

This is a working ranch, so expect the occasional tractor or mower, and a train passes nearby.

Fantastic property!

I stayed here with some friends for an event nearby as it could house quite a few of us. The property exceeded expectations and we wish we had stayed a little longer. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The land itself is beautiful and well kept. I would definitely stay here again.

We were visiting family in Bell Buckle. The property was beautiful. I wish I had more time to explore it. Each room having its own private bathroom was a life saver. We were able to make some wonderful memories during our time here. We spent most of our time with family and did not get to stay at the property as much as we would have liked. However, the location was beautiful. It was very peaceful. My four year old granddaughter said can we live here?

Our large group stayed at Riverbend Ranch for 6 days, left a day early. Ample comfortable bed space for everyone and appreciated the 4 1/2 bathrooms. Large laundry room & kitchen. Rooms were all clean. The property is beautiful & Darren is very nice to communicate with. The river with the picnic area & fire pit were the absolute highlight of our stay. Lots of potential to be a great VRBO. Downsides for us: 1. No house manual available. Needed passwords and codes for wifi / gym. Guidance for what you can / cannot do on property, where things are, suggestions for local activities, etc. would have been great. 2. Larger pond needs aeration/treatment. Thick black, not so great smelling sludge that is knee deep & very invasive plant that entangles your legs. Our kids will swim in just about anything, they lasted a little over an hour and that was after we re-anchored the floating dock back to the middle where conditions weren’t as bad. Still came out with smelly sludge remnants in hair, crevices & on bathing suits. Other family staying there told us they wouldn’t let their daughter swim in it because of its condition. Pond is good for fishing, especially in the morning. Three smaller ponds completely unsuitable for swimming, guys didn’t try fishing in them. 3. More things to do since multiple rental units are on property & they’re all close together. Swimming in the river and basketball court are only things unless you go fishing or bring your own outdoor games.

I’m sorry your stay didn’t meet your expectations. But I make myself very available if you all needed any help at any time I’m happy to guide you all for anything you need. There is a notebook in the house with information included inside of it. I saw you all swimming in the lake and having a great time! The pond is my biggest battle and I’ve been fighting it for months but we don’t use chemicals to treat it and so I manually go out a rake and work really hard to keep it clean. It’s fed by a well 24/7 and I can tell you it’s probably the most natural clean pond you can find. The black stuff is naturally occurring when grass breaks down. I use beneficial bacterial to help consume it but it’s a natural pond there is no way to remove it. I’m sorry your stay wasn’t at the level of your expectations but I wish you would have reached out before leaving a negative review. We always go above and beyond to help and connect with everyone who stays with us!

Host profile image
Darren is the executive director of Riverbend Ranch and Retreat. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit boys' home and retreat center. Darren and his family moved to the ranch in 2021 to take on the challenge of making Riverbend Ranch a place for the community and a safe and consistent home for the boys that live here.

Why they chose this property

Riverbend Ranch is a very special place. Its rolling grass hills and unbelievable sunsets are all surrounded by the river and ponds. It's a great get-away group of any size and a unique find. It's very quiet, and there is lots of space to wander around and be in nature away from the city.

What makes this property unique

The best river access on The Duck, Ponds filled with bass, blue gill, and catfish. We've got a basketball court and all the animals to create a perfect getaway.
