The Faerie House Idyllwild, Enchanted Luxury Cabin • Hot Tub • Sauna • Fire Pits
The Faerie House is a one-of-a-kind, artist-built luxury retreat in the cedar and pine forest of Idyllwild — with a private hot tub in the tree canopy, a wood-burning sauna with a secret outdoor shower passageway, a projector theatre suite, a library loft, a game room with vintage pinball, and three outdoor fire pits. Sleeps up to 16 across eight distinctive named sleeping spaces. About 90 minutes to 2 hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego — and worlds away from everything else.
THE SPACE
The Faerie House was not built to a formula. The bones of this place — the stained glass, the spiral staircase, decades of artistic intention in its walls — were already here. What came next was years of layering: design, atmosphere, and beauty added with care until the space became something genuinely unlike anything else in Southern California.
Large enough for a full group. Intimate enough that everyone ends up in the same room at midnight. Distinctive enough that guests arrive expecting something special and leave saying it was more than they imagined.
THE SLEEPING SPACES — sleeps up to 16 overnight guests across eight named spaces:
• The SkyReach Suite — the primary bedroom: spacious, beautifully appointed, crisp white linens and warm layered lighting beneath vaulted cedar ceilings. The room that sets the tone. Sleeps 2.
• The Enchanted Treehouse Theatre Suite — an immersive cinematic room with full projector theatre setup, a cozy ground-level sleeping space for 2, and — up a spiral staircase art installation — a hidden loft bed for 2 more.
• The Librarian's Loft — an intimate sleeping nook perched above a soaring wall of books. Quietly magical and completely its own thing. Sleeps 1–2.
• The Whisper Room — a wood-nested bedroom with TV, its own gentle atmosphere, and privacy from the rest of the house. Sleeps 2.
• The Woodland Suite — a serene sage-green bedroom with a crisp white bed, gentle light, and a calm that guests settle into quickly and leave reluctantly. Sleeps 2.
• The Revel Room Flex Studio — the moody "everything is possible" space: vintage pinball, dance pole, bar, yoga mats, dedicated sound system, TV, fireplace heater, and a Murphy bed. Included for whole-house group bookings; available as an add-on for smaller groups — just ask.
• The Ammonite Den — a fireside common-area lounge zone that converts to a cozy sleeping space with the provided memory-foam topper and bedding.
Flexible arrangements mean every group of up to 16 finds its perfect configuration — couples claim the suites, kids race for the lofts, and someone always falls in love with the room they didn't expect.
AMENITIES
• Private hot tub — heated year-round, tucked high in the tree canopy for privacy under the forest sky • Wood-burning sauna — firewood staged on arrival; the ritual of lighting it is part of the experience (about 45–60 minutes to full temperature) • Outdoor shower — through the sauna's secret passageway, straight into nature • Three outdoor fire pits on the decks, two indoor wood-burning fireplaces, plus cozy fireplace heaters • Chef's kitchen — large, fully equipped, with quite possibly the best speakers in the house: cooking here is a celebration • Four full bathrooms — including the infinity-mirror Moonrise Bath and the forest-view Sunset Bath, both of which stop guests mid-sentence • Projector theatre suite + multiple TVs • Game room with vintage Star Wars pinball • Multiple decks and outdoor gathering spaces facing the forest — good at every hour • High-speed WiFi throughout • Dedicated workspaces with forest views • Parking for multiple vehicles on the property

THE LOCATION
Idyllwild is a small mountain arts community in the San Jacinto Mountains — one of Southern California's best-kept secrets. Elevation 5,400+ feet, cool -ish in summer, known for its artists, its hiking trails, and the particular quality of its quiet. About 90 minutes to 2 hours from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego; about an hour from Palm Springs. The kind of place that feels like it was always there, waiting.
## Other Things to Note
You'll have full private access to the entire Faerie House and its forest surroundings — every room, every deck, every fire pit, the private hot tub in the tree canopy, the wood-burning sauna and its secret outdoor shower passageway, and all gathering spaces throughout the property. The Revel Room Flex Studio is included for whole-house group bookings and available as an optional add-on for smaller groups — just ask when you book.
NAVIGATING THE FAERIE HOUSE: This is a multi-level, artistic, open-concept property that rewards a youthful spirit and a sense of adventure. The house features open staircases, loft sleeping areas reached by stairs and a spiral staircase art installation, varying floor levels, and an eclectic collection of art pieces, crystal geodes, and sculptural objects throughout. Two sleeping areas are loft-style — one above the library wall of books, one above the Theatre Suite — offering separation and their own sense of privacy by virtue of being on different levels, though they are open-concept within their rooms rather than fully enclosed. We're happy to answer any layout questions before you book — it's a genuinely unique, enchanted design and we want you to feel fully comfortable with the flow of the space.
FAMILIES & YOUNG CHILDREN: The Faerie House warmly welcomes families and has been the setting for many incredible family memories. Guests traveling with toddlers and very young children should be aware the property includes open-style staircases with wide baluster spacing, loft areas, crystal geodes and sculptural art with sharp edges, and uneven terrain on the outdoor decks and grounds. Parents and guardians assume full responsibility for supervision of young children at all times. Guests with mobility considerations are encouraged to reach out before booking so we can help assess whether the layout is the right fit.
PETS: Welcome with prior approval, subject to an additional fee. Please reach out before booking.
FILMING & PRODUCTION: The Faerie House is available for photoshoots, filming, and productions with advance approval — please inquire before booking.
ADDITIONAL GUESTS: The rate is set for the reserved number of guests. Additional overnight or daytime guests beyond the reserved count require advance approval and may be subject to a per-person fee.
POWER & UTILITIES: Idyllwild is a small mountain community, and — very rarely — the utility company may preemptively reduce or shut off power or WiFi for fire safety or maintenance. In the unlikely event this occurs, it is outside our control and not refundable, but we'll do everything we can to support your experience and help turn it into an adventure. We appreciate your understanding of sweet mountain-town life.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT: By booking, guests acknowledge that the property is an artistic, multi-level, open-concept space with inherent characteristics including open staircases, loft areas, uneven terrain, decorative objects with sharp edges, a wood-burning sauna, and outdoor fire features, and that guests assume responsibility for their own safety and the supervision and safety of all members of their party, including minors, as further detailed in the Rental Agreement.

Host was great and very friendly and attentive. House was nicely tucked into the woods but also just a 5 minute drive into heart of Idylwild. Enjoyed the privacy and serenity of location. While we know neighbors are around, the trees, topography, and design of house provided a private getaway.
The town is so cute, lots to explore. Many little nooks and crannies to explore in the house and lots of open space to spend time together. The outdoor area is epic, perfect for big family dinners and dance parties.
You won’t want to leave! Kate truly is your Faerie Godmother, going out of her way to make guests feel warmly welcomed, looked after, and instantly at home. The whimsy and magick in every corner is done little justice by the listing photos. The cabin is spacious and sprawling, yet cozy and warm. The beds are comfortable and the amenities luxurious and generous. Our eyes were enthralled, our hearts were touched, our souls restored, and our laughter echoed throughout this enchanted home. We left glowing, and looking forward to our next stay!
This is my second time back here and it was just as amazing as last time. There truly is a special energy here and Kate really does go out of here way to make sure you're taken care of. I've recommended the Fairie House to everyone I know, will definitely be back again soon!
This is hands down one of the most amazing homes we've ever stayed at! So many thoughtful touches throughout the entire space and tons of fun things to explore. Kate is an incredible host as well and made every effort to ensure we were taken care of during out stay. Would HIGHLY recommend to anyone thinking about staying here and will definitely be back soon!
This is my 2nd stay with my partner and i just love this home so deeply. This home feels lile it is alive & breathing with creativity!
If you come to idyllwild, this is the place to be!
Words fail to conjure the beauty and playfulness of Faerie House. Kate was absolutely wonderful from the start. My family decided last minute to escape to the mountains, and Kate was so generous and accommodating. My children loved exploring every unique room, and the expansive decks. Our only regret was we didn’t stay longer. We can’t wait to come back and enjoy the serenity and solitude of Faerie House and make more memories. Thank you Kate!
First, Kate was a gracious and accommodating host throughout the entire booking and stay. The home itself is really wonderful; we had 3 families with 6 adults and 5 kids, and there was plenty of space for everyone. The kids loved the unique layout, as well as the loft beds in two of the rooms. Location was perfect, only about a 3 minute drive into town. Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed for multiple large dinners. Would highly recommend staying here!
Can’t believe how magical this land/home is…
My partner & I continue to come to this property due to the magic that breathes from this home.
Kate is the sweetest host & loves to make your stay feel exceptional!!
My friends and I loved being on this property! Everything we wanted it was there! We absolutely loved the audio system that connected to all parts of the house, indoor and outdoors! Everything was so simple too! Thank you so much Kate!
Perfect setting to unplug and connect with nature all around. Away from the traffic and hustle. Charming and unique. Felt quite welcome all snuggled inside and surrounded by interesting art.
A beautiful property and secluded getaway. Check in / out was smooth, cabin was exceptionally clean. It's an exciting, twisty drive to get up to the cabin, I don't know if I could do it in alone , but well worth it if you're looking to relax. We will definitely recommend to friends. Just beautiful overall. All the rooms have a theme, huge kitchen, fit pits, hot tub, swing, and my favorite is the Yoga Studio with 2 Poles.
The Faerie House absolutely lives up to its name in every way and more! Being there feels like escaping into a mystical faerie tale! Kate is just the coolest, supportive, and super chill hostess, and she clearly loves sharing her special space with new people. We felt so at home and welcomed, And we are hoping to come back for a women’s retreat there soon! This is a MUST SEE cabin and photographers dream!
One of the best and most unique vacation rentals I’ve ever stayed at!! Pictures and words can’t describe how awesome this place is. 100 percent would recommend anyone to stay here. This place is a hidden gem and we definitely will be planning to come back here with a bigger group! Kate was communicative and available from weeks ahead and even while we were there to help us with anything we had questions about.
Faerie House gave us what we needed for a long weekend away hosting many of our friends and family. It was truly beautiful and full of thoughtful, magical details. The multilevel deck was what originally drew us to it and it did not disappoint. This home was perfect for entertaining and connecting with our group. The sauna was also a huge hit! Gorgeous space for our retreat in the woods. Would highly recommend.
Incredible house and property. Very eclectic and cozy space. So much love and attention was given in the curation of the space. Super easy trip from LA. Kate set up private axe throwing for our group. Be sure to ask her what other experience might be available that aren’t listed!
Kate is a wonderful, communicative host who genuinely cares about your experience. She communicates very clearly and leaves very detailed and accurate directions on how to use every amenity in the Faerie House so your stay can reach its full potential. This magical cabin offered me and my girlfriends an escape from LA life to enjoy endless moments of relaxation and peacefulness. We most enjoyed spending time outside on the wrap-around deck and in the hot tub and sauna which offered complete relaxation.
The pictures do not do this place justice. I doubt any pictures ever could. Do yourself a favor and stay here. You really feel like you're stepping into a new, private world, like something out of your favorite novel. We will be coming back.
Just wow! This home is an experience of it’s own! The movie room was great to escape to after a day of hiking. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed to cook our meals. The hot tub with views of the trees and stars was incredibly relaxing. The sauna with an outdoor shower (stars for days!) topped off our experience. I feel rejuvenated and relaxed. This stay was perfect for my family. I would highly recommend! The host is helpful and responds in a timely manner.

About the host
Hosted by Kate
I'm Katie — the heart and curator of the Faerie House, known by guests as the Faerie Godmother.
I found this house before it was ever available — walked in as someone else's guest, felt something shift the moment I stepped through the door, and knew immediately this was where I was meant to be. Years later, after a profound period of personal reinvention, I made it happen.
Before the Faerie House I founded wellness and movement studios in Los Angeles at the intersection of atmosphere, design, and human connection. I've spent years learning what happens to people when they're placed in environments that are genuinely beautiful and cared for. I love hosting with presence, not hovering. I'm responsive, genuinely invested, and deeply proud of what this space does for the people who stay here and grateful for what all the love and celebration does for the space.
Why they chose this property
Idyllwild chose me. Or maybe I called it in — I'm still not entirely sure.
I walked into the Faerie House as someone else's guest before it was ever available. I stepped through the door and felt something I wasn't expecting — the kind of joy that catches you off guard and tells you something true. I knew immediately this was where my soul was supposed to be.
Idyllwild is a small mountain arts community in the San Jacinto Mountains — 90 to 120 minutes from Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego. Elevation 5,400 feet. Known for its artists, its trails, and a particular quality of quiet that's genuinely hard to find anywhere closer to the city. The kind of place that feels like it was always there waiting.
What makes this property unique
It's the feeling guests describe when they arrive — that inexplicable sense of having come home to a place they've never been before. That gets me every time. I've poured years of love into this space. Not to make it look impressive, but to make it feel like somewhere people can truly exhale. When guests message me after their stay and say things like "I didn't want to leave" or "something shifted for me here" — that's everything. That's why I do this.
The house has its own magic. I just try to honor it.
