Beautiful 5,000 square foot Home on quiet lake in Alexandria

Welcome to the McCabe Cabin on Lake Henry. We call it a cabin, but with 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and over 5000 square feet it really is more of a lake home. Whether you are looking for a place large enough to have a family reunion or someplace intimate enough for a small gathering the McCabe Cabin is the perfect choice.

We started renting it out to friends and family in the summer of 2008 and had such a positive response that we decided to expand it to off season and more specialized rentals such as scrap booking. Plenty of room for all 12 of us. Lots of afternoon napping options, locations, and shade. Thankful for two refrigerators! We brought our own dorm fridge as a bait fridge to keep outside. Great fishing from the dock or the surrounding area. Don’t miss Up North Ice Cream or the Bakery in town. If you need groceries, support local at Eldon’s and the meat market.

Our group (ranging in age from 12-76) had a lovely stay. This was our second year staying here, and we continue to enjoy everything the home has to offer. The home is exactly as pictured in the listing. We especially love the outdoor spaces—gathering on the back patio each morning and spending time later in the day on the lakeside patio. The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed. The sauna is also a fun feature in the evenings. Our only concern was the air conditioning. The temperature was not distributed evenly throughout the house. The two smaller upstairs bedrooms became quite hot, even with all the fans running. Meanwhile, the main floor stayed comfortable, and the basement was very cold.Overall, we had another wonderful stay and would gladly return.

Perfect setting with beautiful views of the lake. Plenty of places to sit and visit outside. The free pontoon was a big plus. Great fishing, nice swimming, fantastically relaxing sauna, well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, and plenty of space for everyone.

Family Vacation

House was great for a big group of all ages. They had a lot to offer, games, toys, large lawn, great patio for fires or sitting outside, and the pontoon was great! The lake was also great for bass fishing or just trolling around! We will for sure stay again!

Great place lots of room pontoon was excellent for fishing caught walleye and bass. Kids loved the paddle boards and swim platform. Great kitchen and grilling. Beautiful Cabin on the Lake!

This property is huge and was extremely clean in every room. The bedrooms are all spread out so you don't hear other people. The cabin was very well stocked in the kitchen as well as in the bathrooms. We all enjoyed staying here and are sure to come back!

Perfect vacation

We stayed at this VRBO last year about the same time which is proof that we enjoyed our stay here. The weather was perfect! Fishing was good enough for a good meal. Location is perfect. Absolutely no complaints. Planning for next year! next year already!

Great Getaway

We had a great time here even though we got snowed in a majority of the weekend. Plenty of games and movies to watch in your down time. Town is not far away either if you want to go check out any local shops. Would love to come again!

Family Reunion

The house was clean and exactly as described. There was ample room for everyone to have their own space and be together. The pontoon worked great and was comfortable for many of us to be on at the same time. We really enjoyed our stay and have already booked for next summer!
