About the host
Hosted by Jan
Family owned cottage near our childhood home. We looked after this cottage on behalf of other owners for many years and later bought it.
Why they chose this property
This area is close to amenities, and well serviced, yet has a truly removed-from-it-all feel. Lots of great boating right at the dock. Sparrow Lake is only five minutes down stream. Georgian Bay, Lake Couchiching, and all the other great places on the Trent-Severn are close by. The Torrance Barrens is a 20-minute drive. The cottage is over 100 years old and was originally one of several built along the river by a group of friends who all worked at Simpsons-Sears in downtown Toronto.
What makes this property unique
It's so wonderful to wake up in the morning and sit out on the porch and enjoy breakfast while looking over the river and the birds and wildlife. Later in the day we have a choice to go biking, hiking, or boating right from the cottage.
