We enjoyed our over night stay. The school house was clean, comfortable, and stocked with all the necessities. The 2 trains that went by were not loud and we were happily surprised how quiet it was considering it is sort of close to a busy road. Would recommend this location if staying in the Lafayette area.
Appreciate the quick response on getting a few items fixed. Couch was comfy and the place had character. Seemed like a cool place for summer or spring with the outdoor fireplace. Easily able to get anywhere in town with-in minutes. Everything was provided so it made it really easy.
The home was super comfy and unique and we had an amazing time celebrating our 20th anniversary! Previous reviews mentioned the trains. Yes, there are some tracks that run along the back property line behind a fence but the home is brick, and while the train horn can be heard, it is not overly disruptive or super noisy as the trains are going through. Yes, there is an old cemetery next door and they didn’t bother us at all. They were very quiet and considerate and excellent neighbors overall. We would definitely stay again and I have already recommended to friends who would love the uniqueness!
Only stayed one night but would love to come back again and stay longer. Comfortable, open concept space, perfect amount of amenities for a short or longer stay.
We really enjoyed the decor and history of the building.
very private, huge backyard with fire pit, cool train stop over the fence, slick renovation, super comfortable, nice beds, cozy, vaulted ceilings, well equipped.
We enjoyed our stay at the Historic Industrial School House. The renovation design and decor used to modernize this historic building was very clever. Our teenagers enjoyed the loft bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped to cook in, and we especially enjoyed the selection of K-cups.
The Historic Schoolhouse worked perfectly for my brother and I to stay and visit my family. It was very cool from a historic standpoint. it was very clean and comfortable. It was cheaper than a hotel and more convenient! It is located close to the road and a train tracks, but the bricks were a good noise insulator. We were very happy with the stay and will come back.
Stayed here with my boyfriend for a night. We were pleasantly surprised! Super cute ambiance within the house. Very very clean. TV, Air, water, all worked great. Definitely was skeptical since it is next to a cemetery but honestly didn’t feel like it at all once you were inside. Great stay and great communication from the host. Would definitely stay again!
This house was perfect for our stay while we were in town for a Purdue basketball game. The house was clean, very well stocked, and beautifully updated. Our two boys stayed upstairs in the loft area, and we took the downstairs master bedroom. The beds were very comfortable as was all the furniture. We watched a football game on the large screen smart TV in the living room, which was perfect. We made a pizza in the oven, put some groceries in the fridge, did some dishes, and did a load of laundry. All the appliances worked great. The water pressure was a little low & the water took a while to get hot, but that didn’t really bother us. The bathroom was really nicely refinished. There is a cemetery by the house, which we found to be quaint. The fire pit & furniture outside were perfect for the yard surrounded by a privacy fence. As some other reviews have said, it is close to the main road, and there are train tracks right behind the house, but it honestly didn’t bother us at all. It was the best night’s sleep any of us have gotten in weeks. We had a great stay and would definitely stay here again.
Clean place. Good communication. Very unique with lots of character. Agree with other reviews of the “Halloween factor” but other than that, good place to sleep after a Purdue game.

Amazing vibe however….
The home has an amazing vibe, however do be aware of a few things….1, it is adjacent to a busy highway/ a cemetery and a train track2. The loft area is exceptionally warm…you will have to use the provided fan3. A lot of stink bugs were present in the house…they affect the stay
This schoolhouse is so cute and only a few miles from campus. It was well-equipped with bedding and soft towels. The kitchen was great, as was the outside fire pit. Plenty of parking. Now I-fi issues. The only issue we had was that there is a train track literally behind the house, so it was a little difficult to sleep with passing by. The owner was responsive. I would return in the future.

Charming place but location was issue
The place had charm but it wasn’t enough to make up for the location. The fact the the train tracks are around 40 ft from the back door was challenging. The noise level and vibrations were quite unsettling and a train came by around 10 times in 24 hour period. The road noise is also very loud. Also it was a bit unsettling to be next to a cemetery and across the street from a corrections facility. I didn’t realize it wasn’t near a neighborhood at all.
My educated guess is that this converted one-room schoolhouse was actually also a small church as the property butts up to a cemetery. The "house" is pretty unique, and we definitely enjoyed our stay. There were several dead flies near all of the windows, and we did see a few spiders and other crawly creatures inside during our stay. But aside from that, the place was neat and clean. The bathroom and kitchen were basically spotless, and the bathroom had plenty of extra toilet paper and shampoo and conditioner. The house is decorated tastefully and the television worked great. The loft was cool! The only reason I didn't choose 5 stars all around is because of what I'd call the Halloween factor.... Not only is an active railroad track only 10 yards behind the house, the aforementioned cemetery is a bit spooky, and the front door has three windows built in it which give an unwelcomed view of the correctional facility almost directly across the street! EEK! It wouldn't take much for a criminally-minded person to break the window in the door nearest the deadbolt, reach through and unlock the door, and come on in. Believe me, I slept with one eye open! I want to come back again with my husband and some friends and embrace the scare. But, I was a bit surprised by the "bonus" Halloween atmosphere on this visit! We attended a Purdue football game on the visit, and that was a ton of fall fun!
