Take a moment to breathe at Surface Creek Sanctuary located right on Surface Creek in Cedaredge. Listen to the water flowing while you sit quietly on the patio, taking in the sky, deer, chipmunks, and the occasional fox that may visit. Or go visit any of the numerous nearby attractions - Grand Mesa, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, our quaint local small towns, ski slopes - there is so much to explore!
This is our primary home. Expect that it will not be sterile and bare. We welcome you to any pantry and refrigerator items you may need, and you have full access to all our kitchenware, as well as soap, shampoo, conditioner and hairdryers in the bathrooms. Use our laundry as you need. Play our piano. Use any herbs growing in the boxes on either side of the house. Think of the home as yours while you are there. We do want to let you know that when not being rented, 2 cats and a dog live in this home (fair warning for those with pet allergies).
This home is noted for its cozy living room and open living space. It is a comfortable layout with privacy for all if desired. But this home's real draw is its outdoor living spaces. There is a hot tub for those who wish to use it, and there is a cozy outdoor living area surrounding a warm and inviting fire in our fire table, either down below on the big patio, or near the house on our covered patio. If so inclined, eat a meal at the dining table under the trees and stars.
We are utilizing the upstairs room as our "owner's lock-off" so you won't have access to that room. The master bedroom closet is also locked but there is a portable wardrobe in the bedroom that can be used to unpack your clothing items and stay a while!
There is a Walking trail (2 miles out and back) out the back door following Surface creek. Frequently we see deer and fox, and some have even spotted bear. The trail is well-used so don't worry about those bear too much!
This home is set in a developing and growing neighborhood. There is a golf course in the area, and the home is located next to the Surface Creek Trail. We are a short walk from the small town of Cedaredge and only a 20-minute drive to the top of the Grand Mesa, where there are more than 500 square miles of forest and mountain to explore. The neighborhood is safe and quiet.
Guests will have access to the garage and there is parking for three vehicles in the driveway. Street parking may be allowed for short periods (<48 hours).
You will need a car to get to the surrounding area - Colorado is big and this area is considered rural so there are no taxis or Ubers. You can take a short 15 minute walk to Main Street in Cedaredge and visit our local restaurants. The golf course is less than 3 minutes away by car.
Wine taste and dine at our local classy wine cafe, Sips, or at many local wineries. There is a hip vibe and often live music at Snowcapped Cider. Meet David Starr, the legendary guitarist who opened for Hall and Oates, in his Main Street store, or throw back a beer with the locals at the town bar, Pondy's. If you are feeling the need for a little culture, visit the Grand Mesa Arts and Events Center on Main street as well. Or book a service with Skin by Aspen or a massage at the Mind Body Collective. There are many local small mountain towns to explore, and Telluride, Crested Butte, and Ouray are within a few hours drive. And if the outdoors is your desire, just head north on 65 to the top of Grand Mesa where there are hundreds of hiking and off-roading miles to enjoy and lakes to swim, fish, and paddle board in.
Enjoy your stay!
