Happy 30th Birthday!

A beautiful stay at Irish Beach. A favorite place for the family. This house is so easy and comfortable. We love the local shop and easy access to Fort Bragg as well!

Great, quiet seaside retreat

Great Vacation

We had a great stay at Karagatan. The house was clean and organized, great views and close to the private beach. The beach was practically empty so we had it mostly to ourselves. Absolutely no complaints, would recommend it to future guests.

The house is very cozy and has a beautiful view. When there was an issue with the hot tub, Miriam took care of it right away which was appreciated.If you plan to cook a lot, you may want to bring your own knives.

Relaxing place for time away

We enjoyed our 3 night stay in Manchester. Lots to do in the area, and this home is in a central location close to it all. Daily walks on the beach, hiking amongst the redwoods, wine tasting, climbing lighthouse stairs, all within an hour. Good communications with the host, a lovely view, and a quiet neighborhood.

Just wanted to add a quick note saying that we are in the process of updating the screens (a couple of them are a tiny bit frayed). The doors and windows all work just fine, so potential renters needn't be concerned. The house was built in the 80's and we like to maintain the rustic theme, so folks who are looking for a more contemporary feel might not be quite as impressed as those who like the woodsy atmosphere with the cedar walls and the large windows overlooking the ocean and the forest. Fantastic Weekend on the Mendocino Coast

Booked a last minute weekend getaway with my wife and two young children. The house was perfect... spacious and cozy at the same time. We were looking for something quiet - and this place really fit the bill. We enjoyed all the amenities, especially the hot tub. The owner was fantastic and easy to get in contact with. Really could not ask for more in a weekend escape. We look forward to coming back again!

A great trip!

Renting this comfortable house was a great experience. The house was a represented in the listing. Clean and fully furnished. It was a great home base while checking out the north coast of California. We made use of the kitchen cooking breakfasts, packing picnic lunches and multi course dinners. The hot tub was a hit every evening to soak our tired bodies after a day of hiking. The weather was great and Montgomery Woods is well worth the trip to see Old Growth Redwoods! I definitely recommend this house and hope to return for another stay!

Nice house, great view

Nice house, great location, wonderful deck. Everything was as advertised. Really enjoyed our stay. Only complaint is that we had run ins with ants despite keeping all our food in plastic bags in the cupboards, they were aggressive. This isn't uncommon for the area, but it was unfortunate. The BBQ was hard to use as the gas pipes were rusted to the point that they had large holes so that most the flame came out in one location.

Amazing weekend getaway!

Checked in on a rainy Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend. Drove up Irish Beach and pulled up on this private driveway that led to a wooden walkway to the cottage. Right from the offset, I knew it was going to be an extremely pleasant experience! The house is cozy and has really thoughtful arrangements of things you would need to make your stay pleasurable. The hot tub is a huge bonus! You also get your own private beach access, which is a 6 min drive from the house. All in all, it turned out to be one of the best weekends of my life and I will be definitely coming back here again!

Great views, relaxing ambiance

My fiancé, friends and I had a lovely stay at Miriam’s home celebrating my 30th birthday. We relaxed in the hot tub, had yummy meals and took in all the views from the deck and master bedroom. The kitchen had everything we needed and the barbecue worked perfectly! Although we spent a day adventuring in Point Arena and Fort Bragg, we left the weekend wishing we had spent even more time soaking in the comfort of the home. Irish beach was lovely and we also were able to horseback ride on the beach below the home. We already have plans to come back! Miriam was also very responsive when we had questions and check in was easy. Thank you Miriam.

Cold house

The house is super cute…warm wood construction, cool rustic design, and great deck. Entertainment choices also appreciated. Access to the private beach was very nice! And the neighborhood was great to walk around with plenty of views along the way. We loved it all except for one thing…it was very cold on some nights. Our first 2 days were rainy and cold and the 2 space heaters were not enough to keep us comfortable. After the weather became sunnier, the house warmed up.

Quiet and cozy and just perfect!

After searching on VRBO for the perfect place to take our 21 year anniversary trip, we came across this lovely gem nestled up on a hill overlooking Manchester beach. The owners were kind enough to let us bring our dog and even had a crate (medium sized, not large) and bowls in case. We brought everything we needed but noticed it as a nice touch. The deck is absolutely charming with a hot tub around the corner affording privacy and shelter. The kitchen was decently stocked enough that i made homemade soup with no problems. The beach is either a steep hike or short drive winding down to the ocean. This area has really become a favorite for us, and Lunasky was a fabulous home base. My husband lost his phone on the beach on our second day there, but we gained excellent memories to cherish forever!

Amazing Spot

If you are looking for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle, this is it. Tremendous setting and cozy cabin with just enough space for three people and a small dog. It is an old build, so there are some quirks to electrical and hot water systems. Regardless of that, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Relaxing retreat within walking distance of the beach

We really enjoyed our stay here. The property feels very homey. The beds were very comfortable with firm mattresses and soft sheets. The views were spectacular. The kitchen has just about every appliance you could ever need, sometimes more than one of each. Cabinet space is a little limited as a result, but there’s a lot of counter space to store your food. The dining area has spectacular views and a large table with plenty of seating. The living room has one large couch and a chair. The couch is a super comfy West Elm couch that seats 3-4 people. The only inconvenience we found in the living room is all the plugs are far from the furniture and there’s only 1 side table, but that’s pretty minor. The bathrooms are nice, clean, and have plenty of storage space. The showers are nice, though the drain was a little slow. Access to the beach is great- it’s three blocks away, the beach is beautiful and secluded. The store that’s near by has just about anything you could ever want. The prices are high, but they have everything. We found a coffee infused maple syrup there that’s life changing. We felt very relaxed the whole time. WiFi is strong. I attended a three hour zoom meeting and my sister attended a 2 hour class via zoom with no issues. We stargazed in the hot tub and watched sunsets on the porch. We enjoyed the movies provided. Overall well worth the price. We drove up to Jug Handle Preserve for a spectacular hike and a white sandy beach. We drove to Mendocino and had candy cap mushroom ice cream. It’s a lovely house and a convenient location.

Manchester Lunasky House

The photo in the listing makes the house look nicer than it really was. It was a little run down and who ever does the housekeeping needs to clean the spider webs throughout the house use something to get rid of the ants in the bathroom, master bedroom, and kitchen. There was ripped up chairs in the deck outside. Not sure why because we had no desire to sit on ripped up chairs. The jacuzzi was nice although it was really hard to get in once it was dark. The lights were burned out on the deck and it was pitched dark at night. Also, it stated in the rules of the house not to use the heating system and to use the fireplace. There was no wood to use other than the old branches outside. If the owner wants you to use the fireplace there should be wood for us to use. There was a video spot light outside the front of the house. Not sure why they were recording who was coming and going inside the house but found it inappropriate. You pay a significant amount to stay in the house and we found that we were being watched coming and going. Other then that, we enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your review Richard, I am sorry to hear your experience was not what you had expected. My home, as showcased in the photos, is a rustic wooden, cabin style home. It is not modern or new although there are many houses in the area that are. It has a special style to it that is unique and not for everyone, yet most of my guests enjoy it and choose the rental for the wooden cabin feel. I have tried to represent the rustic feel of the home honestly with the photos. My check in and welcome guide are very clear and straightforward regarding bringing your own firewood if you plan on using the fireplace. Unfortunately it would cost me thousands of dollars a year to provide renters with firewood, especially longer stays, and it is common practice to have renters bring there own wood, or purchase in town at several locations within 5 minutes from home. Although we don't use the old baseboard heaters for fire safety reasons, each bedroom and the living room are also equipped with electric mini "fireplace" heaters that guests are welcome to use. This is all in our manual and I apologize if you didn't see that when reading through the check in instructions and recommendations. Irish beach community has a dark sky CCR (Codes, Covenants and Restrictions (“CC&Rs”) ) that does not allow for any bright lights outside homes at night. Therefore we have installed approved solar lamps that don't shine too bright around the hot tub to be in accordance with the guidelines and respect the neighbors sky and stargazing abilities. It is great for stargazing! We do have a security camera installed at the entrance to the home, as it is a second home and empty at times we feel it is needed to help prevent burglary and vandalism. I hope you find a rental home that is more your style and can meet your needs better next time you visit the area.
