About this property
Rare 2 King Bedrooms, INSIDE Yosemite Gates, No Stairs to Enter
Planning a visit to Yosemite? Adventure Awaits! With its majestic vistas, powerful waterfalls, outstanding recreation and connections to history, few places refresh the spirit like the treasured Yosemite National Park.
Of course you’ll want a perfect home base, and our Royal Retreat offers something very rare - a two-bedroom modern mountain home inside Yosemite gates, that is peaceful and avoids crowds and lines. Boasting two king bedrooms, Royal Retreat is perfect for two couples. Located at 5,500 feet, it provides an escape from the heat on the Valley floor in the summer and proximity to fun at Badger Pass in the winter.
Located inside the park gates, in the Yosemite West neighborhood, Royal Retreat is approximately 20-30 minutes from popular attractions, including the Valley floor and its breathtaking waterfalls, Glacier Point, and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia Trees. It sure beats long drives from outside the gates or sitting in lines for hours! Even lodging just a few miles outside the gates can mean over 1-hour waits or being forced to start vacation days before 7 am to beat the crowds. Not very easy for most families to manage! Not so at Royal Retreat; Start each day on your own schedule.
Royal Retreat is a modern home. You can feel the care that went into each detail, from the rustic Shaker-style cabinets and doors to the handmade wooden staircase. One of the unique features is you do not climb stairs to access the front door. This is rare in our area; most rentals are on a hill, and you haul your bags up flights of stairs to enter. Also unique is central air conditioning for your comfort, more functional than mini-splits and not common in our area. Royal Retreat's guest bedroom, which offers a king-size bed, is on the first floor with a bathroom right across the hall, making it perfect for guests who are less mobile.
In terms of amenities, Royal Retreat offers luxury upon luxury. The home is fully equipped - towels, linens, dishes, cookware. You only need to bring yourself, your food/drink, and a good time!
Royal Retreat offers beautiful views of the forest from its rooms. The living room and loft are especially relaxing; both receive ample sunlight and showcase peaceful views of the trees surrounding the property. If you want to grill, the covered deck gives you the luxury of being outside, while still providing shelter from the sun or rain.
We have another unit on site-Serenity Suite, directly below Royal Retreat. All of your space is separate and private including your parking area, entrance and deck. You will not need to interact with other guests, but consideration for those living below you is appreciated.

We had a great stay here for our Yosemite trip. The home was extremely clean and very well organized — everything in the kitchen and throughout the house was clearly labeled, even the light switches, which made settling in really easy. What stood out most was how thoughtful the setup was for families. We traveled with a baby and brought most of our own gear, but the house already had things like a crib, high chair, and kid-friendly items available, which was a really nice touch. The home also felt very safe and well-prepared, with everything you’d want in case of an emergency, and it had a quiet, comfortable atmosphere overall. The layout of the house is great — it flows well and works perfectly for a family stay. We also appreciated the variety of games available, which made for some fun downtime.Even though we didn’t end up getting snow, it was awesome to see they had multiple sets of snowshoes available, which just shows how well-equipped the property is.Overall, a very comfortable, thoughtful, and well-run place to stay. We’d definitely come back.
Beautiful, clean & comfortable home away from home! Well appointed with everything you need for a great vacation. We slept well in comfortable beds and enjoyed relaxing at the end of our days of exploring. One of the nicest homes we have rented. Excellent location for exploring Yosemite (no going back and forth to the park each day). Holly & Jeff were very responsive & helpful, and communication was excellent!
Wonderful stay. Central location and great hosts. House as pictured, rustic shaker style. Very clean, all basic necessities present and well labeled. Holly provided excellent advice, and Jeff called to assist on our first day. Very personable couple. Would not hesitate to book one or both units again if we return with family.Park experience was wonderful. Got to see the ecosystem in sunshine, light rain and a wonderful dusting of snow on our last day. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time at Royal Retreat in Yosemite. The location was perfect! We had all of the amenities we could have wanted. Holly and Jeff were amazingly helpful with lots of suggestions and answers to questions. They even noticed keys we left behind and immediately stepped up to get them shipped back to us. The three deer walking up the road were an added bonus. We would definitely recommend their home!
What a joy to stay in such a beautiful, well stocked and clean home in an ideal Yosemite location. Holly stayed in touch throughout our stay after providing excellent information and recommendations prior to our arrival. If you are looking for a place to stay for a Yosemite visit, look no further.
House is fantastic. Host/owner is responsive. Plenty of towels. Kitchen well equipped. Patio is lovely. The only thing you need to know is that Yosemite Valley where you access all the hiking is a 35 minute drive away on a winding road. Buy your groceries in Fresno before you head out! Otherwise you pay 3x the price at the very small grocery store in the park. There are NO restaurants in the park except 1 pizza joint with a line of 30 people.

Thanks for the nice review! A quick note: Yosemite Valley is only 12 miles away on a 35 mph road, so the drive is quicker than it sounds. And while the pizza place is popular, there are 11 unique dining options in the park — one bar & grill literally shares a wall with the pizza place😄 But if you want to eat pizza every day, its good pizza!
The home was amazing - though we spent most of our time in the park. I would recommend this home to anyone interested staying at Yosemite. It is close to the Yosemite Valley area which made moving in and out various locations was easy. It really makes going down to Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequioas very quick. Secluded setting and never heard any noise from surrounding properties. Saw some bears (momma and 2 babies) moving through the neighborhood which made for great photo opportunity. If we are ever lucky enough to make it back - I would definitely stay at this home again.
The place was great - everything we needed for a memorable few days. Central location for exploring and all the comforts of home at the end of a fun day. Thank you!
Nicely decorated and newly modeled accommodation in Yosemite West with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds & couches, with a quiet deck. Enjoyable and easy to relax after exploring Yosemite!
Holy is amazing at communicating and made the check in process easy. The house is beautiful and clean! We were sad we were only there to spend one night but we are so happy we got to explore Yosemite and looking forward to staying there in the future!

Why they chose this property
Our neighborhood, Yosemite West is special. It sits high above the elevation of Yosemite Valley and provides a quiet and peaceful escape. When its hot below, or jam packed with tourists, we feel great relief when we arrive in Yosemite West. Birds are chirping and we regularly see wildlife in our neighborhood, including deer, coyote and bears. Its peaceful, yet inside the park gates and close to all the best spots to visit.
