As a trauma surgeon for the special forces, my life was dedicated to providing critical care in high-stress environments. Living in Birmingham, Alabama, I often found solace and rejuvenation in the serene embrace of the Smokies after intense deployments, grueling training, and long months of trauma call at the University of Alabama. When my tenure in Alabama came to an end, I felt a profound loss, as if I had lost my connection to the area that had provided me with so much solace and tranquility. However, with the acquisition of Robin's View, everything changed. This cabin became more than just a place to retreat; it became a symbol of rekindled ties and secured bonds with the territory and its people. As I continue to create new memories and forge deeper connections with the Smoky Mountains, I am grateful for the opportunity to call this place my own. It is a privilege to have a refuge that allows me to return to the mountains, once again finding peace, rest, and a sense of belonging.
