We had an amazing time in Castine! The cottage is beautiful and very spacious. The host was very responsive and had a great recommendations for the area.
This property is incredible! Perfect coastal home with plenty of space for family. Clean, updated amenities, our favorite room was the covered porch.
We really enjoyed our week here.

Thanks Madison, very happy the house worked out for you - and you enjoyed the porch, it's one of my favorite features also!
Very nice property in an outstanding location. If you are a history buff you will love Castine.
Property is just as described and has plenty of room for your group.
Castine is a cute, small coastal town. The house is extremely comfortable, beautiful architecture and details. Very quiet and peaceful, and a short walk into town for a bite to eat and a view of the sea.
Several classmates and I met for homecoming with our spouses and loved this place. Morning coffee looking out toward the mouth of the harbor/Penobscot Bay were the perfect way to start our days.
Daniel was a gracious and accommodating host and we will definitely keep this house on our list for future homecoming events.
I cannot praise the host enough for his excellent communication, collaboration, and attention to detail. The house is lovely, airy, well equipped, and comfortable. Our family enjoyed it so much we wanted to stay on...maybe next year. I highly recommend this property!
Beautiful home and yard with lots of light and space and books, well stocked. Communication with the owner was a breeze. View of the ocean and just a walk or bike ride into town. We took a tour of the Penobscot Bay on Little Toot and saw seals and other sea life. A vacation to remember.

Almost wonderful
I felt the advertising was a little misleading when the house was advertised as 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms when 2 of the bathrooms had original claw foot tubs and no shower possibility while one with a shower was on the first floor and all bedrooms were on the 2nd floor. The location was prime, the house was delightful, but could use a deep cleaning

I'm glad this guest enjoyed the area and the house. With respect to their concerns, the listing states that there are 4.5 bathrooms and that two have showers (master bedroom and a downstairs bath) and two have claw foot tubs. There are shower and tub icons under each bathroom description. The photos also show this so its difficult to see how the listing is misleading. This information was provided in messages with this guest when they were inquiring about the house before their arrival. Prior guests have described it as "squeaky clean" so I'm sorry if this guest did not find it so; the owner makes himself fully available during the rental and would have responded as needed to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
This was our first time staying in Castine and the Blue Hill peninsula, but we are veteran Maine summer guests and this property is exceptional. What a wonderful house in a special village.... quiet with the harbor bell ringing and Dice Head and the light house a half block away. Lots of yard and living space in a great neighborhood location. The breezes and open windows are so comfortable. Penobscot Bay, Stonington, Deer Isle and Acadia are close and Castine village has some very good food or you can get groceries and be very content at the house. What a great place.... so happy that Daniel chose to share it. Thanks.
Our family traveled to Castine to visit our daughter at Maine Maritime Academy, and we were so fortunate to be able to secure this home for our stay. The home is quiet and serene and fully stocked with all the amenities that we needed to have a fantastic stay.
We cooked all our meals at the property and the kitchen was well stocked. We found everything we needed easily and were very happy with the amenities provided. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with beautiful views. There is a den, living room and enclosed porch as well as a large breakfast area and formal dining room.
Every room was warm and inviting with its own unique charm.
If you are a fan of star gazing, then this property is definitely a star gazer delight as we were able to see the milky way and other constellations while we were there.
We would be remiss if we did not mention that there is a book collection in this home that we were in awe of. We only wish that we had the time to pour through them all.
Our host Dan communicated with us before our arrival and was so easy to work with. We appreciated his hospitality and how promptly he responded to our reservation request as well as the few questions we had.
We highly recommend this VRBO as we would happily rent it again.
This is a residence and not an investment property that we offer when away from the beautiful Maine coast. We've spent 30 years on both sides of beautiful Penobscot Bay and love the ocean setting, history, preserves, trails, food and people of Castine and the Blue Hill peninsula.
Why they chose this property
The house is located on quiet side of one of Maine's most interesting and charming coastal villages. USA Today Readers Choice just voted Castine #1 Best Small Town in the Northeast, #3 Best Coastal Town and #8 Best Historic Small Town. https://10best.usatoday.com/awards/castine-maine/ town.
What makes this property unique
The house was spaciously designed in 1912, has a large yard and sun porch and is conveniently located in walking distance to Dyce's Head Lighthouse, Witherle Woods trail preserve, Ft. Madison (a lovely park on the waterfront) and downtown.
