Loved the location and communication we had with owner/staff. We would recommend having a TV in the apartment and a microwave. Other then that it was perfect.
The location was perfect, everything was within walking distance, never had to touch the car. The lighting inside was about as bright as candle light (no exaggeration), this is apparently the vibe the owner wants. It's like being in the late 18th early 19th century. Older people (like myself) may find it difficult to prepare meals or do things requiring the use of the mirror in the bathroom. The place was clean and ckeck in was effortless. All considered the location makes up for any criticisms I might have. Would definitely stay again.
We love everything about the place and how close it was to everything we wanted to do in Mystic. Very comfortable, clean and we loved the fact that we could walk everywhere. I would definitely stay here again.
We had an amazing time in Mystic. The Blue Shepherdess really set the mood with its eclectic decor, outdoor firepit, that dressing room OMG. The location is unbeatable. So central to everything this gorgeous town has to offer. I will absolutely look to book here again the next time we come to town.

This place was great. Right in the heart of downtown Mystic, an easy walk to main street and tons of dining options. Property itself was really cool and we liked the feeling of our own little hide-away right in the midst of things. There are two other properties in the same building that look just as nice if this one is booked.
Everything was as advertised with this rental and we enjoyed our time. However, one thing not mentioned in the provided info was the restaurant and bar downstairs that also has live music. Ear plugs and white noise machine were provided and sleeping wasn’t too difficult but the music and people noise does carry on till late hours.
Fun and eclectic decorating style, perfectly located for walking distance for the Mystic Art show this weekend. Spotless and inviting, great place to unwind. Plan ahead, no tv or microwave, but we actually did not miss them! We enjoyed the music coming from the Port of Call, and it was long over before bed time. Lovely seating area on the deck for morning coffee within view of the river. Reccommended!
Would I return to the "Shepherdess"? Absolutely! The unit is ideally located in downtown Mystic ... exactly what I wanted. Alden was very responsive and quickly replaced an older chair that had broken. The unit had an elegantly tasteful decor and the backyard area overlooking the river was restful and pictureque. My only recommendation would be the addition of a small chest of drawers to accommodate clothing. I lived out of my suitcase the entire month long stay. Not a big problem, but an easily correctable one. Thank you Alden for your attentiveness.
Absolutely exceptional space! Alden has pulled out all the stops with amenities, design, and comfort - as pictured! The location is great and very walkable. Note: the nature of the building lends itself to a decent amount of noise. I do not feel it warrants a negative review.
The walls are thin; you can hear footsteps from upstairs guests and you can hear the next door neighbors movements. The bar downstairs is open late ~1am and people linger; we could clearly hear conversations/quarrels. If you can't hear the bar music, you can certainly feel it laying in bed.
Our neighbors were incredibly noisy with a child and there was a drag show on the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend - surprise! As it was our second night, we knew the drill and decided to stay up and not try to fight sleep. It ended up being the quietest night once the show was over ~1am ish and thankfully we did not have to leave super early Monday.
My husband and I spent 4 nights at "Shepherdess" at the beginning of July. The location is fantastic. Everything in Downtown Mystic is walkable from this 2nd floor apartment. A parking pass comes with the booking, so you always have a place to park.
The kitchen is well stocked with all plates, pots, glassware, utensils. The King size bed is comfy and firm, the walk-in shower is great. We spent a lot of time with family who live in the area, but we could have easily spent a lot more time here. It was truly charming. The restaurants all around town are fantastic, and we appreciated the gift card (which came with our stay) for cocktails at the Port O Call. (Bartenders were professional and cocktails were top-notch!) As indicated in the listing, there is music that can be heard at night since this apartment is above a restaurant and a bar. It was neither loud nor bothersome to us. As another reviewer wrote, you could feel the bass more then hear the music, but we did not mind it.
Alden, the host of the property, was easy to work with and she was quick to reply to all of our questions.
We are happy that we found this place and look forward to staying again.
