Very Nice and Comfortable with a Great View of the Gulf on the Resort, A3724A

Located at Palm Island Resort on Florida’s Southwest Gulf Coast. No bridges or causeways to the island exist, which ensures a relaxed, tropical vacation setting.
The island resort encompasses a two-mile portion of private, pristine beaches on the northern end of Palm Island.
Guests travel to the island via car ferry and park their car in our island parking area. Transportation is provided by our bell staff and golf carts are also available for rent for registered guests.
Enjoy access to one of the 5 heated pools, plus hot tub and gas BBQ grills.
Tennis courts available for play and always complimentary.
Our recreation center, Coconuts, offers a variety of rentals to include golf carts, bicycles, kayaks and beach umbrellas.
A full service concierge can also arrange for everything from massages to fishing charters.

We had an absolutely amazing and relaxing stay. This is just what we both needed. We even had a manatee swim with us!! Thank you for providing a warm atmosphere where you can go to get away from all of the distractions of today. Several times we had the beach or the pool to ourselves. We didn't want it to end.

Won't Be Back

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit we stayed in, while needing updating, was clean and sufficient for our needs. The beaches are beautiful & the staff was friendly (mostly), but there were a couple of issues that will prevent us from returning. First of all, the restaurants (both on and off the island) were not good. The food was edible...that's it. In addition, the restaurants are old, dingy, dirty, & musty. We requested to sit outside b/c the smell made us feel ill. Since these are the only restaurants available (besides some local places w/o good reviews) I would suggest planning to cook all your own meals (not very fun on vacation, though). Also, when we were leaving, there were no golf carts available to get us as the person on duty the night before had forgotten to plug them in. Instead of using the golf carts available for rent, we either had to wait an hour or walk quite a ways w/all our bags in the heat. Not the best management. It all seems like management issues to me. We will go somewhere else next time.

Our first stay at a Resort

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've always avoided anything with Resort in the name, thinking it would resemble a cruise ship with crowds. We happened upon Palm Island Resort while looking for a room for 1 night near Fort Myers. They had a vacancy, we took it, and liked it so much we extended our stay one night, then switched to a 2 bedroom villa when our daughter and son-in-law arrived. We all enjoyed the quiet, the biking and walking, the activities we chose to participate in (beach yoga and aquacize in the pool),shelling, and the delicious food at the reasonably priced restaurant on site. We left for a week to meet the rest of our family at a rented house on Anna Maria, then returned by ourselves for 2 more nights. Plan to come back next February! Still afraid of Resorts- I can't imagine they'll all be as nice as Palm Island Resort!!

Great view for a long weekend!

Reviewer Comments: We first visited Palm Island Resort several years ago for a friend's wedding, and decided it would be the perfect spot for our own anniversary weekend. The one bedroom we rented was on the top floor, and the gulf views from the screened-in balcony were amazing! We found some beautiful shells and dozens of shark's teeth on our walks along Shark's Tooth Beach. Our meals at Rum Bay were excellent, and we took the water taxi across to Leverock's one evening and met up with old friends staying at the marina. My husband really loves tooling around the resort in a golf cart. We definitely recommend Palm Island if you need a relaxing place to spend a long weekend! Any longer, and you would just run out of things to do.

Always a good time

We stayed in a one bedroom villa for the first time, which was okay. The villla was clean and had a great view of the Gulf. I wish the bedroom had a Gulf view also but it didn't. The villa was clean but I was taken back a bit by the little roach "motels" in the kitchen as I have never seen them in any other villa I've stayed in over the years; however, never saw a bug in the villa of any kind :-). We ate at Rum Bay restaurant, which never disappoints; we love this place. Their food is good and their signature drink - the Rum Bay Smash - is so delicious; I highly recommend giving it a try. I love Palm Island and cannot wait for our next visit.

I will be booking for 2016 now we are back in INdiana. The unit we stayed in our second week was a little worn/outdated but clean. Our first week condo was nice. We stayed in Beach Villas both times. I recommend it regardless of the condition of the Villas!

Palm Island Weekend

From the time that we boarded the ferry, thru check-in we felt very welcomed. Our Villa was very clean, fully stocked with all the amenities of home and decorated in a cute beachy theme. The view was spectacular and the restaurant was a stone throws away from the Villa. GREAT Food!!! I strongly urge you to rent a Golf Cart so you can explore the entire Island! Absolutely Heaven. The entire staff was very nice and more than accommodating. The only thing I can think of that was negative was that the Caulking between the bathroom tub and wall tile needed to be scraped off and replaced. Most of it had come away from the wall which could cause leaking in the unit below if not repaired eventually. Not what we are used to but a minor cosmetic issue. We will be back!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We've been coming to PI/DPI for 20 years beginning with the Resort. We had a couple of issues taken care in the unit after reporting them in about 48 hours. All staff members are very professional and helpful. The golf carts are another story! Bald tires on all three we were assigned;no rearview mirror, and tail lights not working. Very unsafe. We had a blow out on the 2nd cart. The third cart would not take a charge. Carts were being driven by under age kids without parents and overloaded. Even saw one cart with someone riding on the hood in front. Resort patrol never seemed to be around on roads just sitting in the shade watching who knows what? Rum Bay is awesome as always. Dustin has been waiting on us for over 7 years and is very accommodating, professional, pleasant and attentive. Merry at the front desk is pleasant and professional as were the others at desk. We will be back!!
