About this property
Smuggs Mountain House w/Hot Tub, Sauna & River
Welcome to The Mountain House at Uncommon Accommodations at Smugglers’ Notch, our boutique riverside resort featuring luxury mirror cabins, shared spa amenities and beautiful natural surroundings in Vermont’s Green Mountains.
The Mountain House is a spacious, three-bedroom Vermont retreat overlooking the Brewster River, with mountain views, a cozy fireplace, full kitchen and your own private outdoor hot tub. It offers the comfort of a traditional vacation home with access to the amenities and outdoor experiences of an intimate mountain resort.
IMPORTANT: The Mountain House occupies the main floor of a two-unit building. A separate, independently rented two-bedroom basement apartment is located directly beneath the house and may be occupied by other guests during your stay. Both accommodations have their own private entrances and completely separate indoor living spaces, but normal household sounds may occasionally travel between floors.
YOUR PRIVATE MOUNTAIN HOME
The Mountain House offers three comfortable bedrooms with flexible sleeping arrangements for families and groups.
The spacious primary bedroom features a king-size memory foam bed and dedicated workspace. The second bedroom has a full-size bed, while the third includes a full-over-queen bunk bed and a fold-out twin chair.
After a day exploring the mountains, settle into the living room with its plush leather couch, electric fireplace and 64-inch Roku TV.
The fully equipped kitchen includes a gas range, full oven, dishwasher, cookware, dishes and an expandable dining table with seating for up to eight. The home also features a full bathroom with a tub and shower, along with private in-home laundry.
Outside, unwind in your own private hot tub, reserved exclusively for Mountain House guests.
The entire three-bedroom main floor and its private entrance are yours to enjoy. The basement apartment below is a separate rental and is not included in your reservation.
THE UNCOMMON ACCOMMODATIONS EXPERIENCE
The Mountain House is part of Uncommon Accommodations at Smugglers’ Notch, a small collection of distinctive accommodations sharing beautiful grounds along the Brewster River.
Beyond your private home and hot tub, you'll have access to the property's shared riverside hot tub, barrel sauna, cold plunge, outdoor shower, firepit, stargazing lounge, hammock grove and nature trails.
Explore the Brewster River, relax beside the water or cross our suspension footbridge to discover the other side of the property and access the neighboring Smugglers’ Notch Resort trail system.
Guests also have access to The Outpost, our central guest hub with complimentary laundry facilities and adventure-planning resources, and The Gear Shed, offering ski and bike storage and a premium gear dryer for boots, gloves and other outdoor equipment.
Together, these amenities create the experience of a boutique mountain resort while preserving the comfort and privacy of your own spacious vacation home.
EXPLORE SMUGGLERS’ NOTCH
Uncommon Accommodations is conveniently located just off Notch Road, minutes from Smugglers’ Notch Resort and the charming village of Jeffersonville.
Smugglers’ Notch Resort offers skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and year-round recreation. Our suspension footbridge connects the property to the neighboring resort trail system, allowing guests to set out for hiking and biking adventures without getting in the car.
In summer, enjoy hiking, mountain biking, swimming holes, waterfalls and long Vermont evenings outdoors. Fall brings spectacular foliage throughout the Green Mountains, while winter transforms the area into a snowy mountain playground.
Lot 6 Brewing and Full Send Pizza are right next door and within easy walking distance, making it easy to enjoy local craft beer and pizza without getting back in the car.
Jeffersonville is just a few minutes away for cafés, restaurants, shops and everyday essentials. Stowe and Mount Mansfield offer even more opportunities for mountain adventures, scenic drives, dining and shopping.
Whether you're planning a family vacation, ski weekend, foliage getaway or relaxing mountain retreat, The Mountain House makes a comfortable home base for experiencing northern Vermont.
GOOD TO KNOW
The Mountain House is the main floor of a two-unit building, not an entire detached home. A separately rented two-bedroom basement apartment is located directly underneath and may be occupied throughout your stay.
Both units have separate private entrances and independent indoor living spaces. There are no shared interior rooms, but you may hear footsteps, voices and other normal household sounds between floors. Please be considerate of the guests staying below.
The Mountain House and its private hot tub are exclusively yours. The riverside sauna, additional hot tub, outdoor shower, trails and other resort amenities are shared with guests staying in the basement apartment and neighboring mirror cabins.
You may encounter other guests enjoying the grounds, walking the trails or using the shared spa facilities. Please respect neighboring accommodations, private decks and areas designated for other guests.
Our property is surrounded by forest and the Brewster River. Wildlife, insects, mud, snow, ice and changing river conditions are part of the natural setting. Please supervise children near the river, suspension bridge, hot tubs and other outdoor amenities.
A car is recommended for exploring the area, as public transportation and rideshare services are limited. During winter, snow tires are strongly recommended. Route 108 through Smugglers’ Notch toward Stowe closes seasonally, requiring an alternate route around the mountain that can take approximately an hour.
Quiet hours begin at 11:00 PM. Parties, events and unauthorized guests are not permitted. Please be especially mindful of guests staying in the apartment directly below.
YOUR STAY, YOUR PACE
Our local team is nearby and available by message or phone whenever you need assistance, recommendations or help with the shared amenities. Otherwise, we'll respect your privacy and leave you to enjoy the property at your own pace.
Spend your days exploring the mountains, soak in your private hot tub, gather around the fireplace and enjoy everything that makes Vermont special.

Overall great experience and beautiful place to stay with convenient places to hike and explore with family. I’m sad to see development for multi units on site since my ideal getaway doesn’t involve talking to others but as an investor it is a great spot to do what their developing on site.

Thank you so much! We’re glad you loved the location, the trails right from the backyard, and our truly dog-friendly approach. And yes—vacation should feel like vacation, so no checkout chore list here! We’d love to have you back anytime.
We had a great stay at the mountain house. The house and accomodations were very comfortable. The sauna was fantastic after a day of skiing, and the view over the stream was perfect. Just minutes from Smugglers Notch we didn't need to rush to get on the mountain, and quickly back at the end of a full day. We'd definitely stay again on another trip.
Absolutely unreal location particularly for a great weekend of skiing. The spot is fab and the host could not be a kinder, more on-top-of-his-game guy. We loved it and would be back in a heartbeat!
Great place to stay 2 minutes to mountain we had snow every day everything you need very clean and always responded immediately would definitely stay there again 5 year old grandson didn't want to leave
My family stayed here for the kids’ winter break. House was very clean and wonderfully decorated. Location is excellent for trips to Smuggler’s Notch - resort is just a 2 minute drive. Tyler was an excellent host - great communication and very responsive. Would definitely book here again!
Place was very clean and comfortable. There’s a large couch in the living room that’s is very comfortable and big enough for 2 adults to sleep comfortable on need be. The hot tub and sauna were both very clean and easy to use. You have to walk about 50 yards to access them, and they are shared with 3-4 other units on the property so just be aware they might not always be available and having crocks or some type of slip on boot is ideally needed to get to them from the house since the driveway gets a bit muddy or snow covered depending on the weather. All in all very comfortable place. Beds were all very comfortable.

We’re Vermont-based hosts who love creating unique places for people to unplug, explore, and enjoy the outdoors. Our properties are designed to be memorable stays — cozy, thoughtfully built, and connected to nature — whether you’re visiting for adventure, relaxation, or a little of both. We enjoy hiking, skiing, traveling, and discovering special places ourselves, and we try to bring that same sense of care and attention to every guest experience. Our goal is simple: provide clean, comfortable, one-of-a-kind spaces and be responsive, friendly hosts so you can focus on enjoying your trip.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it offers the perfect combination of natural beauty, outdoor adventure, and small-town Vermont charm. The property sits along the Brewster River with private river access, giving guests peaceful spots to relax, walk, or enjoy the water. Being right next to Smugglers’ Notch Resort means you’re steps away from hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, and mountain biking, while still enjoying a quiet, private setting.
We love this area because it feels like a true Vermont escape—towering Green Mountains, seasonal foliage, birdsong, and the sound of the river create a serene backdrop for every stay. At the same time, Johnson and nearby Stowe offer local restaurants, craft breweries, and charming shops, so you can explore Vermont culture without traveling far. It’s a neighborhood that perfectly blends adventure, relaxation, and authentic Vermont scenery.
