About this property
Rose Cottage by the Bay.
Seaside Greenport Village Historic District, on Long Island’s North Fork, New York.
“Rose Cottage” is within the Greenport Village Historic District with water views of Sterling Harbour’s busy mooring field of classic to modern sailboats, and power. Fish as close as the Village dingy dock, two doors away: rent a boat, or slip, or launch your own, within a local clam’s throw. Bathe in and eat from some of Long Island’s (or the world’s) most pristine water quality maritime environments.
Greenport Village is the gem of Long Island’s few active seaside villages: off the beaten path yet easily accessible from New York City by the LIRR, Hampton Jitney or car, or from Boston by car or Amtrak and the New London-Orient Ferry.
Rose Cottage is an easy stroll from the Village Center and its restaurants, cafes, boutiques, gourmet shops, many art galleries and antique shops, banks (ATMs), bookstore, hardware and marine supplies, farm stand and supermarket.
Greenport Eating is a pleasure from picnics at the many beaches, or harbour front Mitchell Park, with its Carousel and live entertainment, to waterfront clam bars, diner, cheese emporium, and tea shop, and of course more formal fine dining with top chefs and local food.
Day Trips might include the quaint Orient Village, Sag Harbour, Orient Ferry roundtrip, the ‘Peconic Star’ to Block Island, Nature Conservancy's Mashomeck Preserves, Audobon Society’s birding and Town’s trails and woods, walk on the Shelter Island Ferry and stroll among the gingerbread houses and restaurants of the ‘Heights’.
Greenport village is in the heart of the award winning North Shore Wine Country, with tasting rooms and live entertainment.
Green Farm Stands all the time and Saturday morning tag sales and flea markets.
All surrounded by the sea.
“Rose Cottage” is beautifully furnished and styled by its owner, the former decorating editor of a national magazine, with an open floor plan, spacious rooms, gourmet kitchen: very light, and very airy.
A two story Cape, two bedrooms (one queen, one double) and full bath upstairs, main floor master bedroom/front parlor with queen sofa couch and full bath (sleeps 4) kitchen dining room with half bath, large sun filled living room, couch sized reading bay window, and fireplace for cozy fall and winter evenings, “Rose Cottage” is surrounded by beautiful gardens, ideal for outdoor entertainment, fountains, mini ponds, and a pergola.
Other amenities include washer/dryer, dishwasher, central air and heat, fireplace, cable TVs, internet access, personal chef available for shopping, cooking, small dinner parties, lunches, picnics.

This is no cookie cutter home; Christine has a sense of style and you know you’re staying in a home.I think my favorite thing was the water fountain in the yard; it was so soothing.
Rose Cottage is spacious, clean, and in a quiet area, while still walkable to town. A few houses down is the water where you can look at beautiful boats. Shopping and restaurants are also just 5-7 minute walk. Loved our stay, thank you!
Spectacular, spectacular, spectacular. Quaint, quiet, cozy and perfect. It was my wife and my anniversary. My wife is from Ireland, and the cottage was exactly the retreat she needed. Perfect setting, location and easily walkable. Christine made the weekend!
We loved the house. It's extremely quiet, and very close/walkable to Greenport's shopping and dining area. We loved the amenities and the décor of the house, and we would definitely come back again.
We really enjoyed our stay at Rose cottage! The cottage is equipped with everything you need, the garden is beautiful and it is ideally located a short walk from Greenport restaurants and shops. We would definitely come back!
Wonderfully located on a quiet street just a short walk from town, this home provided a perfect space for 4 women to get away for the weekend! Check-in process was a breeze and the fresh flowers in multiple rooms and prosecco were a nice touch!
I surprised my sister with a getaway to this lovely cottage for her birthday. It's perfect for two people, or even two couples, and was homey and comfortable. And the owner, Christine, couldn't have been cuter. All in all a fantastic stay!
This property has it all. Every convenience you need. Easy check in/out. Awesome location to town and to water view. Comfortable beds. Great kitchen. Beautiful outdoor space. Can’t wait to go back.
Beautiful property with tons of plants, trees, statues, ponds, flowers, fresh herbs, etc. Had a phenomenal dinner with friends in the garden. The house is beautiful and walking distance to town.
My wife, Roseanne Critelli, just authored 2 children’s books and she had readings in Bridgehampton. Nonetheless we decided to stay in Greenport because of the Village and restaurants. Loved this place and it was so close to everything. Will definitely come again.
